LOOK IF WE AS THE FANS OR A FAN HAVE TO CONVINCE THE CRITICS THAT WE SHOULD NOT SAY THE RAGNARÖK WAS WORST….THAT IS A CLEAR SIGN THAT IT IS NOT UP TO THE MARK LIKE GOW 2018…..LIKE DO YOU REMEMBER ANY PERSON COMPLAINING OR BEING CONFLICTED ABOUT GOW 2018…..ITS ONE THING ONLY…..EITHER THE GAME WINS OUR HEARTS OR NOT……2018 GOW WON OUR HEARTS LIKE THERE’S NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT AND RAGNARÖK SIMPLY FAILED US BY NOT MATCHING THE HIGH EXPECTATIONS THEY BUILD IN 2018 AND WASTED THE ONE OF THE BEST STORY OF MYTHOLOGICAL WARS….NOTHING BUT RAGNARÖK….RAGNARÖK WAS IT MAN….ALL THE GREAT AND MIND BLOWING STUFFS WERE SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN IN THIS TITLE…… Really…..all the questions they raised in previous game are not answered and seems like we are not getting them in this game…..plus things like time travel….blade of olympus…..mjolnir…..nothing seems like happening…..also facts like which should happen in RAGNARÖK seems to be not going to happen for example measurements of mimir by dwarves….that yes…but what for?!?! Anyone would’ve seen it coming that tyr is not tyr but is odin…..I KNEW…..I mean just in first night you showed us tyr was with us in sindri’s house in the first night of the game….poor story writing…..plus fenrir in just one of the first dialogues was shocking and great too but….there are no explanations…..where is it?! Everything seems stupid….what were they thinking? I or any die hard fans would’ve wrote far better story than this…..why the big sequels goes like this…..and yes they did let us down…..thay said norse will be wrapped up so why the crap you would let the answer to that who blew the horn kept away from this game?! And kept it for god knows which future game and when that future game will be available?! Also remember this I hated playing as Loki or Atreus….it was bullshit…..There were more gameplay of that little shit and was disturbing to the kratos’s gameplay like whenever we would feel like we are warmed up with blades of chaos the game led us to stupid bow and arrow…..also where is JORMUNGANDR in the whole game….(I’m currently in the faye’s dream right before war, so of course he’ll be there at RAGNARÖK)…..I’m just too upset and disappointed with the story…..game overall…music and everything is great….it feels good as a PS5 play through in my PS4 slim and looks awesome….feels smooth great reflections….great shadows….great vibrant environment…..but story is not feeling anywhere near to compelling story telling…..KRATOS is like getting a beat up by everyone who shows up….he’s broke….he was crying at some point…..He feels weak to me……and the most disgusting part when there were enemies I had to kill….I just always had this feeling of fear thanks to the crappy balanced difficulty….what balanced I died a lot…..and whoever said in the reviews that the gameplay feels like you are god of war is the worst person to review this game…..the difficulty on balanced does not let the player feel anywhere near to god of war rather It gives me fear watching enemies ahead and I’m always mashing the L1 and X….AND MORE L1s and more Xs……who told you to have such difficulties…..why the only 4 difficulties were not working great for you……Why give an additional stupid show me no mercy difficulty mode…..I hate the person who took that decision to add that extra difficulty and messing so miserably to the balanced difficulty……..I thought you cared about us….us the players….you said you are fan of us the players……but who disappoints to the community of god of war like this….in game worth of RAGNARÖK itself…..every review they gave which was mostly 10/10 and 94 metacritic ot whatever that score is feeling like the most stupid score ever…..so stupid…..and yes ESRB said correctly back then about the FUCKS you used in this game so stupidly…….the whole game felt like just building the alliances and story and elements like giant marbles and the thing from which we can call surtr and the thing from which we can call skoll and hati….all this were just feeling like we are doing nothing in the story but building the story just for RAGNARÖK war….just for the end. NO ONE CAN ARGUE ON THE DISPUTE THAT WHICH GAME WAS BETTER 2018 OR RAGNARÖK…..AS IT IS UNDISPUTED THAT 2018 WAS CRAZY GREAT AND SO FAR BETTER GREAT GAME THAN RAGNARÖK….THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IN THIS TWO GAME IS THAT 2018 WAS ON TOP OF NINE REALMS AND RAGNARÖK IS FAR DOWN BELOW……YOU GUYS REALLY DESTROYED THAT GREAT STORY THAT WAS BUILT IN GOW 2018 LIKE FART IN THE AIR BY BROK. YOU DESERVE EVERY SINGLE WORD YOU MUST BE RECEIVING OR WILL RECEIVE FROM THAT PLAYERS WHO ARE GETTING SO DISAPPOINTED….JUST WHY THE HAPPY ENDING OR NORMAL OR SPEAK PLAIN LIKE KRATOS KIND OF STORY DON’T WORK FOR THE CREATORS….IF I WAS CRISTOPHER JUDGE I WOULD NEVER LET THE STORY GO LIKE THIS….. I. HATE. LOKI. THIS GAME WAS MORE LIKE GOD OF MISCHIEF : RAGNARÖK THAN GOD OF WAR : RAGNARÖK. AND YES I NEVER COULD USE QUICK TURN THANKS TO THE REMAPPING OF IT….WHICH WAS SOMETHING I USED IN PREVIOUS GAME AND WAS FEELING CRAZY GOOD TO QUICKLY QUICK TURN AND BEAT EVERYONE AFTER QUICK TURNING……YOU COULD’VE LET THE QUICK TURN WITH SAME SWITCH AND HOLD DOWN DPAD FOR WIELDING SPEAR. I WAS NEARLY FEELING STUPID PLAYING THIS ONE. One of the most important plot….let me remind you….remember the statue of thor and his different sized mjolnir and the real mjolnir he got….both the mjolnir are different in look….Back in 2018 I thought the game just teased that while making his hammer something loki must’ve done like in the traditional mythology loki became a bee and stung brok and the handle was made too short than the dwarves planned….so that’s what happened in traditional mythology…..my point is If you as a creator were never going to address this great little incident in RAGNARÖK then why in the world would you make the mjolnir in the statue and the real mjolnir thor finally got look different in the game?!?! I wish I could discuss all this with Mat Sophos….Cory Barlog and of course Eric Williams. They really let us down….everything is great except the STORY! So much to complain when it comes to the story…..IT WAS RAGNARÖK….RAGNARÖK….NOT NORMAL SEQUAL…..TIME TRAVEL….BLADE OF OLYMPUS…..WHO BLEW THE HORN….MJOLNIR…..JORMUNGANDR STORYLINE…..MANY MYSTERIES LIKE THAT THE LIST GOES ON TO SOME POINT…..AT LEAST WHO BLEW THE HORN?! WE REALLY DESERVED TO KNOW THAT…..THEY SAID THEY’LL WRAP UP NORSE SAGA…SO WHY COMING BACK TO ANSWERING WHO BLEW THE HORN? IN SOME OTHER THAN NORSE GAME!!!!!! I’M UPSET AND SO SAD….AND I ACTUALLY FEEL BAD THEY WASTED THE TITLE AND PLACE WHERE MANY GREAT THINGS WERE SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN IN THIS TITLE…..VIZ RAGNARÖK!!!! FOR ME RIGHT NOW HOME OF GOD OF WAR FANDOM IS HANDFUL OF YT CHANNELS TALKING ABOUT THIS FRANCHISE….I FEEL BETRAYED…..HOW SHORT THE RAGNARÖK WAR WAS MAN?! WE DIDN’T GET TO SEE DWARVES ARMY OR HEL ARMY OR JORMUNGANDR FIGHTING THOR CLOSELY……ALL THIS WAS TOO RUSHED IN THE END….ALL THIS THEY DIDN’T PUT IN THE GAME WAS NOTHING BUT THEY ESCAPED FROM SHOWING US ALL THIS GREAT THINGS WHICH WOULD’VE TURNED OUT TO BE GREATLY APPRECIABLE HARD WORK!!! BUT NO….

When Odin said "I didn't want this." he didn't mean he didn't want to kill Thor despite their bad relationship. What he meant is he didn't want Thor to think and act for himself. Since day one of his birth, he never treated him like a son. He treated him as muscle to enforce his rule over the nine realms and slay the giants who didn't share their foresight of the future with Odin. Had he not try everything he had worked for to avoid Ragnarok and gain more knowledge about it, things could have turned out differently for Thor.

From what we've heard about Thor in god of war 2018, we were expecting the god of thunder to be this brutal warrior who attacks without thinking things through, and just enjoys the bloodlust of fighting and killing giants. In short, we expected Thor to be the Norse equivalent to Ares, but there is so much more to his character. For one, Thor has been loyal to Odin, or at the very least trying to get Odin's approval. Despite clearly wanting revenge on Kratos and Atreus for killing Magni and Modi respectively, Thor is able to momentarily put that aside. When he fought Kratos, Thor held his own and chose to end the fight prematurely after catching a glimpse of the god of war that Kratos once was, showing that Thor can respect worthy opponents. However, Thor has a temper that can cloud his reasoning, which resulted in him trying to kill Atreus, and attacking Kratos in their final battle in Asgard. Ultimately, Thor just wants to do right by his family, his deceased sons Magni and Modi, his wife Sif, his daughter Thrud, as well as and especially Odin. It's such a shame that when Thor finally stands up to Odin, the allfather killed his own son. The sad thing is that we never get a clear reason why Odin is so hard on Thor, but I theorize that Thor may have hand in his mother Fjorgyn's death, possibly through childbirth. Odin loved Fjorgyn and was never the same after she died, according to Mimir. It's possible Odin blamed Thor for Fjorgyn's death, took his grief out on Thor, never let Thor forget it, which made Thor believe that he was a destroyer, and made use of Thor's talent to kill as many giants as possible. That's my theory anyway. Can't wait to see the video that explains the second frozen lightning bolt in Vanaheim, since it also has to do with Thor and Laufey the just.

Sounds about right. I think Odin does hate Thor because of what happened to Thor’s mother during child birth. Also I think Thor developed his Giant slayer persona because of what happened to his mother. Think about it. The first thing he did the day he was born was “kill” his mother during the process of child birth. Odin probably abused that thought into poor Thor and created the bane of jotnar we see today.

Having Odin be so heartless and selfish was such a great decision. It really makes his “nice” moments feel so much more deceiving and conniving. There’s no excuse for Thor’s acts and crimes but at least he is a character with compassion and love for something other than himself and his motives. It’s fascinating that the one god, the All-father himself, that is meant be the god that puts his people and his realms above all else is the most selfish and least compassionate being in existence. Brilliant writing and storytelling.

This game has so many interesting details that people gloss over. For one, Odin's crows... Thor didn't make a hole in their roof as an accident. It was a way to let the crows get inside their house. Meanwhile, while Thor was distracting both Kratos and Atreus, Odin's crows get in to take a look. And they're looking for one thing in particular... Mimir... At 4:46, you can see how one of the two crows start hopping around the place where they hid Mimir's head. a while later, you can hear it caw, and a second one joins almost immediatly. Then the second one looks down and probably discovers Mimir and caws again. Then Thor calls the crows to him, and seemingly dismisses them. But then they're off to signal Odin to come in. The dismissal has a seemingly easy signal- meaning the coast is clear. And that Thor was send in by Odin first to "read the room". However, I find that very odd, considering Thor isn't the kind of guy that "reads the room" if you get my drift. Thor isn't a diplomat, he's a brawler. So it's odd to send in the brawler for a diplomatic missions. No, Thor was send in as a distraction, knowing that both would be distracted by the God of Thunder. Meanwhile the crows send for by Odin were digging around the place, finding things Odin was missing. In particular, Mimir. I think it also acted as confirmation that these two really were Kratos and Atreus, after all Odin doesn't waste time visiting seemingly random people's places. Instead sending in his crows instead. Only when they KNEW Kratos was Kratos, he came in.

Reason why Thor came first was to see if Kratos was willing to have a civilized conversation, and if things go south, Thor would be there to do the hard work (which he does by taking Kratos away from Atreus). Also the reason why Thor looks up while inside of the house, was to find a way to strike Kratos out of the house when necessary.

With that in mind I feel that's how he does it. Sometimes if a creature doesn't speak a mortal language, the soul flows through the being so he can hear the emotions that way. like how he could speak to andvari. Thors not exactly stable so it probably is a coping mechanism to keep him from lashing out or drinking. So perhaps it's talking to the soul. Also Ingrid was very close to Freyr belinging to him. Ingrid spoke to atreus as she trusted him And wanted to be far away from odin. Atreus would of heard a voice or emotions in the hammer if there were any so Perhaps it's not enchanted in that way as mimir said but as someone to talk to.

You can tell he's a genuinely nice and cool person and he's like that because of Odin. Lines like "Nice place", "You're an OK kid" and "Wasn't going to let that mask...", caring about his family, following his father's orders despite knowing their wrong and getting drunk because of killing the giants and other bad things that he has done really show that deep down he's a good person Also I like the detail that Thor isn't Odin's son but when Odin wants him to kill Kratos he is Thor's father

@@icysweetness Then you aren't looking at Thor. Just his reputation. Thor isn't the hammer wielding maniac we heard about in the first game. He is a man who hit rock bottom, and is only just starting the journey to climb out of it. His father Odin has been grooming Thor to be little more than his weapon for his whole life. He broke Thor's self esteem and confidence as a child and made it so he wouldn't even question if his father was ever wrong in doing that to him. And in turn, he and his wife Sif raised their children like Odin raised Thor. And we saw how Magni and Modi turned out. And so did Thor and Sif. In this game Thor is trying to be different. Sif as well. They lost their children and Odin just called those same children useless. I believe the game hints at Sif being the first to see it, and convincing Thor later since Odin tells Thor to stop "letting your wife think for you." Thor is a mirror of Kratos. Kratos has had years and years plus a full game detailing the how and why he is able to be better than he was. He wanted to be better, and had the support of a family to do so. Thor is just now deciding that he wants to be different. He wants to be better for his only remaining child. Sif has it a little easier since she isn't the groomed right hand of Odin. But we see this struggle happen in real time with this game. The fact Thor is a drunk isn't just due to how Odin treats him. Its also his guilt over the deaths of his sons, and likely regret for all the other stuff in his life. Much like how Kratos regrets many things from the past. The fact that Thor makes any progress at all in this very short window is very significant. Yes he stumbles back down, but he picks himself up and manages to see Odin for what he is for the first time in his entire life. Thor went from Odin's murder weapon by proxy to a father trying to change for the better on the behalf of his daughter. Ask yourself this. When Baldur and Thor were both given a choice for peace or violence, who chose peace, and who chose violence? When Baldur was given all that he dreamed of with the spell removed, what did he do? He still clung to his hatred. "Why do you even care. You could have walked away" isn't just aimed at Kratos. Baldur could have just left Freya there after he told her he never wanted anything more to do with her. He was free. He could have walked away. But he CHOSE to try and kill her anyway. When Thor was drunk and beaten in the last fight, what did he choose? Kratos offered him peace. A chance to make things better for their children. Something Thor WANTED to do. And what did your "drunk psychopath" do? He lowered the hammer. Stopped clinging to all the guilt and hate, and made a choice to try and do better. Starting with ending the fight with Kratos. And he did something that he never had the guts to do previously. He saw that Odin was using him. What he was doing was wrong. And when Odin told him to pick up the hammer and choose violence again, he dropped the hammer. And said NO. Thor hasn't earned his redemption yet, and sadly, never will. But he did more in the short time we saw him than Baldur did. He made real progress. He made the choice to be better, and that choice will now live on in the daughter who will remember him for what he did there at the end, and not just what he did before she was born.

Like a jaded man that has been poorly abused by his father and turned into what he is in this game. A father that just feels he is a failure as a father but blocks it out with ale (mead) and believes himself to be a lost cause until the end of the game when he hears Kratos say "be better for our children" where he finally shows his change to be better for his own daughter. He reminds me partly of my own father, only he is a perfectionist that wanted more out of me than one can ask, but after 40 years he eventually learned to accept me for who I am and he and I have now eventually rebuilt our lost bond.

something interesting about Thor is that his hatred of giants is most likely a form of self loathing as he is half giant after all and Odin clearly doesn't see them in a good light. believing that all they are good for his attacking and destroying that's why most of Odin's insults to Thor are just calling him a dumb brute. I think that Thor feels that if he were not a half-giant then Odin would think more highly of him and so because he believes that his giant half is standing in the way of Odin seeing him as more than a brute that he started blaming all giants for the lack of care Odin gives to him.

so whos gonna be the main in the next? kratos or atreus? i mean they darn near set it up for two entirely separate games. a stand alone atreus game would be cool but i bet its going to be 1 slightly more kratos centric game with 2 stories. if they went that route i could see plenty of side characters being playable for like a single mission or something, like you flip to thrud's perspective and get to use the hammer or maybe atreus could control beasts with giant souls like that snake. idk
