It never ceases to amaze me, that he was the ONLY opponent that he talked as if theye were on even ground. Not a single god is called "brother" by Kratos, only Hercules. Guess it's because of him honoring only real strenght and a warrior's spirit. Nice detail.

It's an interesting concept, considering that this game did touch on their similarities (though they left out a LOT). I Mean, I believe in one tale of Herakles (Hercules Is the Roman name for those who don't know) tells about how he was driven to a rage by a god (forgot which one) and murdered his wife and Child; similar fate to Kratos. It's like a pattern of inferiority and jealousy that would make for some interesting dynamics if all the Olympians/Titans/Furies/Fates/etc weren't written as just plain dickish. Like there's a fair degree of nuance to a lot of them. Yeah I agree with you on Herk, imagine at least him not siding with Kratos but not getting in the way due to a mutual understanding of each other's pain and suffering at the hands of the Olympians they were brought up to try to respect and worship.. it's got potential

I think out of all of them, Hercules's death is the most tragic. Kratos and Hercules had the most in common, including both being human, both having been turned mad by the gods to kill their own family, and both being admirable warriors and heroes who respected one another. He could have been Kratos's greatest ally, but in the end, the gods did what they do best: turn kin against each other.

@@Nam3less2U Look, this is in some form true, but in GOW4 he doesn't have all of his equipment. He has grown wiser, and stronger physically, but not fighting as for a long time he wasn't really battling anyone. And he didn't have his equipment. As we can see, he is already strong enough. With a couple of punches he pushed back the ground against Hercules. Hercules is already weaker physically as he can lift the entire stage but strangles at the end. Kratos at GOW4 turned around that whole platform(don't remember how it's called). So yes he became wiser and stronger but not more powerful or a better Warrior. If he had his weapons tho he would be stronger than his past self with the weapons.

But i agree with you that young Kratos is more "*POWERFUL*" because he has the power of hope. The power that make him invincible even immune to time. Old Kratos doesn't have the power of hope, because in the GoW 3 ending he granted the power of hope to humanity.but still,,, I don't know. Cory Balrog (GoW director) stated that old Kratos is stronger than young kratos. Well let's wait until GoW Ragnarok came out.

This fight stands out to me because it’s the only time Kratos gave someone a chance to back down. He gave Hercules so many chances! Probably because Hercules has suffered the same way (killing of one’s own family in anger due to trickery by the gods) What if the brothers could have banded together instead 😂?

Throughout God of War 4, he tried to hide his son of his shameful past. Then the last piece "I have nothing more to hide" was his finale to stop hiding.

Fun fact: The air on Olympus in fact did affect his thinking.

One of the best games of all time. I played it at least 30 times and I still wanna play it again. Legendary.

Hercules and Kratos really are a lot alike. 1. Both are Zeus' illegitimate sons. (Who isn't?) 2. Both killed their own families in a blind madness induced by a god. (Hera and Ares) 3. Both were cursed and had to perform impossible deeds. 4. Both are warriors. 5. Both made it to Olympus. Probably a lot more I'm forgetting...

This is one of the most iconic God of war/Kratos moments in all of the games ever made even the most current and whatever’s next. His interaction w Hera from “Bravo. Because one of the themes in Greek and Roman mythology is pride. The gods and the demis in mythology are some of the arrogant mother fuckers in literature 😂.It’s weird though too because Hercules is probably the most likeable Greek hero though in mythology .

This boss is epic for so many reasons 1. Kratos isn’t even sure if he can beat Hercules and tries his hardest to convince him there’s no point in fighting 2. During the final phase of Hercules, it literally looks like an older and younger brother fighting😂 3. The look on Hercules face when he’s pinned down and knows he’s screwed

The fact that Kevin Sorbo voiced Hercules blew my mind and felt nostalgia!

7:18, dude i don't know why but this part here, i know it wasnt intended and maybe im just overthinking it but it was such a perfect sync, Hercules was confident that he could beat Kratos, the music was with him, the trumpets showing all his might, and bam, Kratos take his gauntles. "Final-" before he even finish the phrase Kratos start punching him, the music then changes to Kratos theme and so Hercules comes to his senses. He's alone now, all his minions are gone, Hera who was enjoying the show was also gone, no one's coming to help him, the only thing left was trying to take down Kratos, he fails and Kratos keeps punching and besting him, he starts panicking and tries to throw him off the Forum many times but fails, only to see his last moments witnessing his brother's rage while being punched to death, when you see things in Hercules perspective, it's really a scary feeling

I used to think Hercules was stronger in the beginning when he had an army. However given that all his army consists of the weak minions that can be grabbed with O he is actually stronger when he is by himself because it is very easy to inflict a lot of damage on him by running into him using his own warriors.

There are moments in a game that feel special. Where you realize suddenly that what you are doing is awesome both in gameplay and as a narrative. Where you get completely immersed and lose yourself in the moment. That is truly the best feeling when playing a game. When everything in the world disappears except the game that you are playing. In Doom 2016 it happened in arenas while fighting hordes of enemies with the dynamic music that changes depending on how good you play. It happened for me in dmc 5 while getting and holding stylish ratings. I realize how important music is in combination with great gameplay and setting. The same happened while fighting hercules and the music built up towards the part at 4:10. As this is the mid point of the game (i think) you have gotten better at the game. There are a lot of enemies and you need to use all your skills and weapons to defeat them, all while fighting hercules at the same time. Playing well, destroying everyone around me while hearing the best part of this theme was an amazing experience. And the immersion that is so important.

Hercules has insane durability, and stamina. All jokes aside about him getting mopped, the guy took more of a beating than anyone else before him and still kept going.
