Heidi, the female, was more chill but she had wild zoomies too. Both were tough little dogs but HATED the cold, except the 1st good snow of the year which was honored by wild zoomies around the backyard for like 5 minutes. My mother’s friend has a brindle basenji. He wants to meet people and other dogs.
Can confirm after having a Basenji-mix as my first childhood pet. Basenjis run cat software on a dog system. They love to jump and climb, they will patrol endlessly to make sure your home is safe, and boy are they SMART. Our dog Lindy picked up on both English and Spanish phrases we'd use and I swear with no hyperbole she could understand about 100 phrases. Bilingual dog! She learned every trick we ever taught her, she was great at getting rid of vermin, and she only ever managed to learn a soft "Bruff!" in place of an actual bark after intently listening to and imitating our second dog, a Flatcoated Retriever, which ironically is a breed known for their "talking." Amazingly enough, my parents never PLANNED to get a Basenji. They thought she was a Chow-mix at first until we started realizing she acted nothing like a Chow. But it all turned out for the best. She was a fierce guard dog but utterly sweet towards me and my sisters. She lived to the ripe old age of 17 and would have been willing to hang on longer (cause boy are Basenjis STUBBORN as well!) but we knew it was time and sent her on over the Rainbow Bridge.

My Basenji knows exactly what "Che Che, That's not your house!" means because as soon as I say it, she'll immediately move away from whatever she was sniffing or whoever's apartment she'd wandered in front of (back in the day, she'd wander IN, too 😅! Thankfully she never got very far and the few times she did it, the neighbor who's house she started to wander into found her to be delightful and not freak-out worthy). Now all I have to do is say that phase if she wanders a little and she'll immediately move to stand in front of OUR apartment door. It's crazy how much you get the feeling they understand what you just said. Cat software on a dog system, indeed! 🤣🤣

Right now I have 2 males Frankie & Limo (everyone laughs but I couldn't resist naming my extra long doggy Limo, as in the extra long car a limousine) They think they're much bigger than they are, very brave they'll take on anyone/anything to protect themselves & you. They're curious (1 of mine once decided it'd be fun to swallow a sewing needle! The vet had to carefully go thru his intestines looking for it!) Love digging! When I take my boys for a walk i have to remember my phone bc I will spend time just standing around while they dig tunnels hunting mice, gophers and rabbits. When they want attention and aren't getting it they'll poke you with their nose, we call it the nose jab:) Ofc they are unique in the way they're 3 times longer than they are tall with short little legs & round feet that make perfect little shovels, they were bred for digging tunnels to hunt badgers. when they're young they're very energetic but as they get older they can get lazy and fat, they live to eat instead of eating to live lol When it's your dachshund they are sweet loyal & protective but they can definitely be unfriendly to strangers especially if that stranger has a dog with them! I laughed so much at the "dachshund" cursing out the robber in your other video! They definitely don't appreciate a stranger just walking in to their territory & are very vocal about it!

I adopted a rescue puppy that the lady told me was a Chihuahua/Pug mix. I already have a Chihuahua that is the best. He was very cute and affectionate. After the papers were approved and I’d given her a check, she mentions, “oh, he might have a bit of Dachshund.” Holy crap, he’s MOSTLY Dachshund, I think, because he 100% acts like one. The pug smushed face mixed with the long dachshund snout came out medium length, and the tail looks more like a Chihuahua, but still curls over the back; one ear stands up and the other flops over. He’s always wanting to play-fight my other dogs, and he HATES other dogs and most other people. His mission in life is “destroy”.
I have watched all of your dog related videos so many times and yay that you are on shorts now .keep up your great work. 🙃

She absolutely hates water unless it's to drink. Won't go swimming, screeched at me when I put my feet in the water at the beach (would have absolutely NOTHING to do with that ocean stuff), and looks at me like "this is the worst day of my life, why are you doing this???" when she gets a bath (the groomers always say she's VERY good for them, tho 🤨). My basenji is from West Africa. One of my neighbors had 3 of them for hunting. She's always been a sweetheart, tho and in my town back in Africa, she loved playing with the kids near my house (they loved it, too! It was kinda like a novelty because over there, kids are more leery of dogs and petting dogs isn't really the norm). She's absolutely a little escape artist. Back in Africa, she'd slip through and get into just about anything. Here, she's wiley and good at finding little hiding spots when she wants a break from the other dog (she comes out when she's ready to play again) and she wiggles out of clothes when I put them on her and she no longer feels like wearing them.

I love these videos!
Many years ago I rescued a pitiful puppy. Even the rescue tried to get me to pick out something else. Well much love and money my new Vet told me it was a Basenji. Great baby that we had for many a year. He was so smart and he and my Jack Russell were so smart it was scary lol.
When you read find a channel then later read “you’re all caught up”, it’s time to get going with the day. Thanks for the laughs man. New sub.
So funny LOL

Obviously not because humans bred those dogs ... God had no hand in it. It's like thinking god made pharmaceutical medicines. 🙄. Humans bred 90 percent of dog breeds, for hunting or fighting or just being cute. .. but it's not natural. God /nature didn't do it, right , Soooo the premise of the joke is just not funny to begin with 🤷♀️😑. Why even bring god into it? Take it up with the humans who bred these unusual breeds of domestic animals, dude... The jokes sort of on him for not even knowing this...🤣. The cringe is strong. Any other NATURAL animal I get it but why focus of dogs that were actually artificial creations by breeding. Heck, These breeds didn't even exist until the last 120 years, for goodness sake.
The Bible jokes are clutch. Great job.
Y'all can you imagine someone thinking half husky half basenji would be a good mix? Yodeleheee~Whoo~oo~oooo~ooh!
I’m first love the content
We had one of these as a kid. It was back in the late 70s. NO ONE had ever heard of this dog and thought we were lying to them. Our large animal vet had one dumped at his door. He loaded him up and he came with Doc Warren out to the farm to deal with the calves and our 2 pregnant mares. Anyway he was great dog. Doc couldn't keep him and no idea who the owners were. He didnt even really know what he was until he heard the 'yodel ' i guess he talked with other vet buddies or something and they explained about him. Well he need a foster family until he could find a good home for him. The yodel was tough to deal with in town and he was a 'i need to run 12 hours a day' dog. So mom and dad fostered him for about 6 months...did i mention he was a 3 legged dog. Obviously named Tray. Well thats what the vet called him they ole tray dog. Mom raised white German Shepherds so we had and knew how to deal with dogs. Thats why he felt safe letting us foster an unknown dog, since he didnt know how he was was pets and kids. We made sure he was good with the larger animals, as well as poultry and cats. I think he went to an old 'retired' farmer, they don't actually retire. They just ride around in the pick up and tell they guys they are doing it wrong. He was his truck dog. Went out with him to the fields and ran around while the old man talked. Then loaded back in the front seat and off they went. He was missing his left back leg. Never let it slow him down.
We had two basenjis when I was younger. They are fast as hell we would try to catch them and as I caught up at full sprint it would put it into a whole other gear.
Rorschach Voice: "God didn't make the Basenji this way. . . We did."
I knew a family that had a Basenji. It was a sweetheart of a dog. It did, however, bark. It just did it very quietly, a barely audible woof.
Because of you I have had to look up pictures of dogs I have never heard of in my life. Kudos, job well done
"What's your problem? Why are you gatekeeping yodeling?!" Might be the funniest thing I've heard in a long time 😂
"David had a short king party last night"😂
