This call that you are accusing of being deception has already stated its proofs from all the religions (their differing sects included) that people follow today, as it is the culmination of the strife and efforts of all previous prophets, messengers and angels, all of whom have foretold of its companions and planted their prophecies as proofs for it when its time has come. And anyone who is in doubt can turn to God sincerely and humbly ask Him to testify for them whether this is the truth or not. Peace

The successor must either be publicly appointed or must invoke a previous will from the past Divine knowledge: that is, he must be the most knowledgeable of the people on earth and have the ability to know and ask any question and have the answer, to be the most knowledgeable of people. The call to God’s sovereignty: that is, he must raise the banner of God’s sovereignty

(Basa'iru d-Darajat of as-Safar al-Qumi) Abdu l-Lah ibn Abi Ya'fur said that Abu Abdi l-Lah (Jafaru s-Sadiq) said: "Ali ibn Abi Talib was the knowledgeable Imam of this Ummah and the knowledge is inherited. Not one of us passes away until he sees a son who learns his knowledge, and the Earth doesn't last for a day without an Imam from us, with the Ummah seeking refuge towards him." I said: "Can there be two Imams?" He said: "No, unless one of them is silent and refuses to speak until the first one passes away."
