I think we are moving toward an universal belief system. A universal belief system would need to agree upon the concept of God. This acceptable universal definition of God would be a one-catch all definition, for example: God is the source of manifestation for the creative forces in the universe. It would propose that: Light, matter, gravity, electromagnetic forces, chemical reactions, movements, fluctuations in the quantum fields, etc. are manifestations of God, so God permeates the entire universe. A definition in this like encompasses the accepted religious notion that God is everywhere, influences events, and is the creator and destroyer, we are part of it, it is only one, and it is eternal. People would add their personal touches to accommodate what they want to believe.

There is no one definition of God that will satisfy everyone (or God for that matter) because God is greater than any definition, religion, though, feeling, action, etc. You can only point towards it or reference God as an idea. The map is not the territory

Know the truth and it will get you free. And, that glorious truth is, there is no god, no judgment day, no heaven, no hell. There's no celestial dictator watching everything we do/say. You don't need to be saved, and you're never in danger of being condemned for words or deeds.
