Interesting that you pointed out how watching Harry fight the dragon in the distance would be boring for the audience when the other tasks were even worse with all the action happening underwater or inside a maze.
@mwakortskallo
4 ай бұрын
I don't even understand why they did that in the movie. Apparently they tried to get it more interesting than it was in the book, but at least in the book Harry didn't completely forget what his task was. Instead of going back to the egg he just travelled all over the Hogwarts grounds, while skilled witches and wizards like Dumbledore, Snape, and the dragon keepers just sat there waiting for him to (maybe) come back? They never talk about the chain breaking or anything. The task was never to fight a dragon. It was to get the egg. Couldn't anyone come and stun the dragon or come to Harrys rescue? The dragon keepers were there solely for stunning the dragon if things got out of hand, but when it did, nobody lifted a finger in the movie. By tampering with what's in the book they just create more things that don't make sense.
Odd misconception that people have is that Harry is a nerd? He's a jock that wears glasses, described as teenage lanky. That is why initially they pick on Hermione because she's into books and Harry and Ron are into quidditch... His main thing apart from survival is being the seeker. @@armyb140 Definitely. Half-Blood Prince is my favourite book of them all, but possibly my least-favourite movie (it's fighting for that ignominious honour with Goblet and Phoenix though). Azkaban is definitely the best movie, mostly because Cuarón is by far the best director of the 4 who were involved in the series (Newell was trash, and Yates started out trash - a fact at least partially attributable to Steve Kloves not being involved in Phoenix - but after two total failures, he finally learned how to make a decent film). I was really hoping that Cuarón would stick around for a couple films. He made a couple inexplicable decisions (the Knight Bus scene and the toad choir come to mind), but by and large his cinematographic vision most closely fit with the source material. If he'd been the one to direct the design of the HP universe from Philosopher's Stone onward, I think the franchise would have a lot more re-watchability nowadays.

@@VoIcanoman Agreed. But I think Columbus did first 2 movies fairly well, especially the first one (given the fact he had limited knowledge about the HP universe bc most other books weren't even out yet), making the sets from the scratch that stayed throughout all the movies and making the vibes happy and holiday-y, so when Cuarón took over and made it darker and heavier just at the right time when sht started going down it made more of an impact when comparing it to previous 2. I do wish he continued doing the rest of the movies but I think he and JK didn't get along well so he did only one. Shame really.

I hate how dirty they did Ron. I just wanna mention the fact that he’s actually really smart when you really think about it. Like just the fact that he’s amazing at chess reveals so much about his character. It shows us that Ron is actually really skilled when it comes to tactics and recognizing patterns. Because in order to actually be good at chess, it requires a lot of focus and thinking skills as well as being able to understand the opponents motives. I know he’s made out to be stupid (with always asking for Hermione to do homework for him and give him answers for tests. As well as not always doing too well in classes), but knowing that he can play chess really well is sorta proof that his lack of being able to do work isn’t stupidity, but just laziness. There’s actually a reason their hair is so crazy! Usually when actors come to a movie, they’ll grow out their hair for a while so the stylists can cut and shape their hair how they want. There was a new director/ the director decided he just liked how they had their long hair and decided to keep it how it was. The actors were apparently horrified but went along with it haha
The long hair is actually funny - Daniel R. talked about it in an interview. "For each film, the actors were asked to grow out their hair with the intention of cutting it before shooting started. However, when director Mike Newell saw their long hair, he decided it perfectly captured the rebellious teenage phase the characters were going through. Radcliffe and Grint humorously noted that the long hair made it harder for their characters to attract girls at Hogwarts, adding an unintended layer of awkwardness."
