Goan Prawn Curry | prawn curry with coconut milk | prawn curry recipe | Ajay Chopra
All the way from Goa, this spicy and tangy, the Goan prawns curry blends beautifully with the sweetness of the coconut milk as well, making it an irresistible treat. Here is a yet another mouth watering recipe by @ChefAjayChopra
Recipe Details
Ingredients:
For Puree Masala
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Sliced onion - 1 tbsp
Coriander seeds - 2 tsp
Black pepper - ½ tsp
Cumin seed - 1 tsp
Garlic cloves - 8-10 nos
Chopped ginger - 1tsp
Turmeric powder - 1tsp
Red chili powder - 2tsp
Diced tomato - 1nos
For Curry
Oil - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 7-8 nos
Sliced onion - 1 cup
Slit green chili - 4nos
Salt - as per taste
Tamarind water - 2tbsp
Coconut milk - ½ cup
Method
In a bowl add grated coconut, sliced onion, coriander seeds, black pepper, cumin seeds, garlic cloves, chopped ginger, turmeric powder, red chili powder, water, and diced tomato then make a fine puree.
Heat a pan on that pour oil, curry leaves, sliced onion, pour puree masala, and add water and continue cooking
Add slit green chili, salt, and keep cooking
Clean prawn while the curry is cooking
Add clean prawn in curry and tamarind water and coconut milk and bring one last boil to curry and your curry is ready to have..

If we use coconut oil it will taste all the more tasty. After you off the flame we can add a dash of coconut oil at last cover with a lid and let it rest for some time. Tastes heavenly

Sir, finally Goan prawn curry is here.. Thank you I am Goan, every Sunday we have goan curry is must.. But only thing we add tamarind while making masala paste and cook it without oil afterwards add kokam.. In Goa we get triphala local to Goa, we add it to the curry...

Do we have to roast the scrapped coconut or fresh coconut
I am a GSB, and this recipe will taste good. But there are a few alterations in authentic GSB fish / prawns curry. In the paste, we do not add tomatoes, onions, ginger and garlic. We add red dried chillies instead. Also, in the paste we can add tamarind pulp or ball. Also, in the paste, we do not add jeera as well. In tadka, we do not add curry leaves. We cook the paste two ways: 1. by either frying it in oil and onions, or 2. We grind the onion in paste and cook the paste in water (no oil at all). Hope this helps.

There is no such things as truly authentic. People can make it in different ways. Your recipe may be authentic according to you but someone who has been making it a different way will say its not. its just a matter of opinion.

We call it Chingri Macher Malaikari without Curry Leaves, Piyaj, jeera, dhania, garlic, tomato
Add bimbla and muli it's very good to taste eat with local in Goa .not in 5 star or 7star hotel

I read so many comments . Sayin that they are goan. But they are not they are outsiders sales in goa. This is not authentic goan curry. In curry prawns n onion are boiled first and theen masala peast is put. And garlic and curry leaves we never ever use in fish curry.
