DUCKADAM was a good goalkeeper.

I watched this final with my father. He was 34 and i was 9 and in 2nd grade at that time. He didn't let me to go to sleep. He said to me: "I don't want to let you to go to sleep. Maybe you will never watch something like that!" It was magnificent! STEAUA BUCURESTI THE EUROPEAN CHAMPION IN 1986.

@@calinstoianovici1152 i know that. but i thought the logo, name, trophies now belong to steaua. Steaua recently got promoted to 3rd division. i think if they get promoted to 1st division, some FCSB players might even move to Steaua. which club do the old steaua fans support? and which club do you support? as a neutral i think steaua getting promoted and finishing above FCSB would be amazing.

@@steve4812 CSA Steaua was founded in 2016, december and started playing in 4th League, like a new football club. FCSB has cotinuity in 1st Legue. In 2014 FCSB lost the right to use the name "Steaua" but continued to play in 1st League and in UCL or EL. That's why many fans things that FCSB is Steaua.

Da...Magica noapte de 7 Mai 1986. Aveam 9 ani si Tata m-a tinut in fata TV-ului ca sa urmaresc impreuna cu el aceasta fantastica finala. Steaua din 1986 a fost cea mai mare echipa de fotbal din Istoria Fotbalului Romanesc.

The barca keeper made two exceptional saves too.....a shame he was on the losing side.

The end caught me completely off guard And besides surprising and insulting, it felt creepy with that silent black backdrop. Turns out that word means "end" in swedish and danish, like Patrick mentioned below. What a performance, though!!

The final took place on 6th of may, 1986, at Sevilla, Spain. And it was à REAL kind of miracle !

He is the reason why I use this nickname, he humilliated Barcelona hahahahahahaha

Back then the commentators were so passionate about the game...

For those that do not know, Duckadam(a Romanian of German ethnicity ) at the night of this great achievement, was just 27 years old, with just 2 selections in the Romanian national team. He was actually considered the 3rd or even the 4th goalie in Romania by the night of this 1986 final. The sad part, it is that, after this performance, maybe because of the bad extra-life(too much eating, drinking and partying) during the summer that followed, caused by a continuous euphoric state, Duckadam suffered an aneurysm at a hand while fishing at a lake. That injury, followed by a complicated surgery, forced Duckadam to retire from football. In 1990, at World Cup, 4years later, Romania lost to Ireland at penalty shoot outs. The Romanian goalie Silviu Lung didn't manage to save any goal out of the 5 tries, more than that, he didn't even guess the side of the shoot (4 out of 5 times). Many wondered back then, what Duckadam would have done in 1990, if he'd been the goalie in that game.

During an interview I heard him saing something like this: "The easiest decision to take was for the third penalty, after two saves on my right side I was 100% sure he will think i will change the side and go on the left side". He was right...he said also that he did not study barcelona players it was just feeling, talent and luck.

This was a couple of weeks after Chernobyl disaster had taken place. I was 10 years old living in Romania and we were all very scared of the radiation especially in the city I lived in (close to the Black Sea). Steaua winning made us forget about any radioactive risk from Chernobyl 😂❤🎉

Hello Arni! Great idea to post this vid! Perhaps you can correct the title. It's Steaua not Steua. I am delighted to see that a Swede knows about this legendary goalkeeper. For a long time after this memorable match, fate was not kind to Duckadam, an ethnic German from Western Romania. Very soon after this game, he became seriously ill. This put an end to his activity as soccer player. He went through a lengthy period of hardships. Finally, in 2010, he was appointed president of the Steaua football club and his quality of life improved substantially.

Poor Barcelona keeper...Saves two penalties, which is exceptional, and nobody remembers it..

Remember this well. Ducadum was inspired. Teams like Steaua will never make the CL final now. It's all rigged to help the same teams to get through each year.

The fact that 4 countries give half of the teams in UCL says it all. This is called Champions League but England, Spain, Germany and Italy have the right to send 4 teams each directly into group stages while the rest of tens of countries have to fight against 2, 3 or even 4 teams for a place in the group stages and there are only 6 places reserved for those who play in preliminary rounds.

UEFA's rule is that no finalist team plays the final in their country. Here the rule was not respected and FC Barcelona played in Spain. Why? Because the Spanish team had money and the Romanian team didn't

That's nonsense, the venue is already decided before the Champions League phase. For example, the Champions League final in 2012 was in Munich and FC Bayern Munich also played Chelsea in the final that year.

The venue of the Champions League final has nothing to do with money, FC Barcelona would have had to be 100% sure before the season that they would even make it to the final.
