    I've got 2 of these on a RF Prime 1200.1D and I love them! Now you say they failed thermally and I was hoping you would have measured the temp after it let loose so we could see roughly where the failure threshold is . . .but 135° @ 750w after 5 minutes is impressive in and of itself for a $130 sub!! Keep up the good work!! 😉

    Now that was a good video. Lotta information but you need to tell them about what I posted a few minutes earlier. I like that you smoked it we know the maximum it will do. I like that you cut it apart to show us what it looked like after. To me this is one of your better videos. And you didn’t spend that much money. You are to talk about beginners. This is a great start for a sub for beginners. Let people know where they’re at and the price points on everything always. You seemed a lot calmer and relaxed this morning. This was one of my favorite videos so far especially the smoke. People will watch this just to see that. You will get more hits when you start tearing stuff up. Everybody wants to know what the most is it will handle.

    @bailey2517 LMFAO maybe educate yourself a bit. Sundown underrates their speakers usually. Their rated RMS is "safe" power but you can increase it by a decent amount for most of their products if you know what you're doing and give it actual clean power with no clipping or distortion and tune it correctly. Not to say running a Sundown above rated power isn't going to decrease its lifespan a little bit, but they're pretty durable and if done right you can safely do it for a long time with no issues.

  • @UnofficialAudio

    @UnofficialAudio

    6 жыл бұрын

    That's a really tough subject to document on video. There's just so many variables with different subwoofers. No two are exactly the same in every aspect except motor force. You'll also have different fs, mms, etc. which all will play a huge roll in testing. I can tell you that with all other variables the same the subwoofer with more motor force will be louder every time. In other instances a sub could have slightly less motor force but a lot less moving mass and be more efficient and louder. Or a sub's fs could match the peak of your vehicle better making a weaker subwoofer louder.

    search for "Sundown E-12 v.3 Prototype" video on youtube. You will see it being pushed about 2 times as far as in this video. And the production models have even more clearance than that. I run mine with no subsonic filter my port is tuned to 30hz and I can blast 20hz at full rms and not worry about mechanical damage.

    #SundownAudio My first Sundown sub was an E12. Had a single 12 on 1200 watts RMS. Never had an issue. Obviously I wasn't listening to test tones. Lmfao. But on music, it didn't mind the 1200. After about a half hr of heavy listening, the dust cap was pretty warm to the touch. But that was it.

    I eventually upgraded to a single SA-12 on the same amp. Similar performance. Dustcap still slightly warm after half hr. Now I'm running 2 SA-12s on 1KW each. Again, no issues other than warm dustcaps after extended play.

  • @jonpatterson6479

    @jonpatterson6479

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@AbTekpro not much sound quality difference. The subs are very similar other than the SA Series has a larger motor and higher power handling. I would make my decision based on the amp you are using. The E-series has a 3db higher sensitivity. But the SA-series can handle more power. Thus, the SA-series can get louder if you have enough power to send them. So I would say if you have more than 750 watts RMS per sub, go with the SA-series. If you have less than 750 per sub, then go with the E-series. The E-series will be louder on low power. But as far as the quality of the sound, they're very similar. They do great with music. Even during the loudest bass note, they can still beat with the kick drum. This is where cheaper subs fail. Good luck and bass on !!
