SCRIPT:
INTRO:
Coming off a relatively uneventful visit at the hot springs, we were all excited to finally roll into a big city. It would be the it would be the first time in nearly 2 weeks that we would finally get taste of modern conveniences such as paved roads and a larger candy selection!
TRAVEL TIP:
By day 12 the long drives and bad roads had us going a little crazy, so it was imperative we kept ourselves entertained. Before taking a trip of this magnitude, we suggest coming prepared with own music, audio books and a car charger so you can still see the incredible landscape but it will help you zone out better if you feel nauseous or when you feel your patience start to thin. Also, there will be lots of opportunities to get out and stretch your legs so take advantage and walk around. Staying healthy mentally as well as physically can really make or break your experience out in the Mongolian country-side.
Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake ( Great White Lake Тэрхийн Цагаан нуур and The Khorgo volcano ):
A photographer’s dream, the great white lake is a stunning body of water surrounded by extinct volcanos in a protected National Park. If I was asked, “what would be your perfect camping spot?” This would be it! During the summer months, the water even warms up a bit and it’s a wildlife spotting extravaganza! Sadly, I was still feeling too sick to venture out and explore it all so Noah had to be my eyes and ears for the day.

Hi! I have been wanting to go to Mongolia for a long time now and I have been binging these videos. The camp here is a big place I want to go to. I just have a few questions. 1) Did you book the ger when you got there or did you do it in advance? 2) Are you guys doing a tour or making your own itinerary? What would you recommend? 3) This question kind of relates to the last, but is your driver someone who you hired from a travel agency for a tour or is he going along with the itinerary? Poorly worded question, but basically I just want to know about the logistics of the driver. Thanks!

Organized tours are extremely common in Mongolia and really, independent travel is pretty much impossible there unless you REALLY know what you're doing. Finding a tour company is pretty easy since that's one of the main attractions that brings in travelers from other countries. In our case, we had the name of a hostel/tour company that we had seen in someone else's videos a couple of years prior, so we booked a couple of nights accommodation with them before arriving in UB. Once there, we just started talking to other travelers to see who'd be interested in going on tour. The per person cost of a tour generally goes down depending on how many people are in the party. After we had assembled a group of travel companions, we met with a tour company across town as a group and planned our itinerary and agreed to a per person cost. After that, everything was included. The drivers, guides, food. Everything. So it's a pretty easy process as long as you can find others to go with you to help keep costs down, but this should be pretty easy since most foreigners are there specifically to go on tour. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
