This video shows the go kart throttle cable linkage. It reviews how to install a go kart throttle cable to any predator 212cc, Honda, or clone engine so you can remotely operate the throttle with the gas pedal. It also goes over how to set up a go kart gas pedal and return spring. All go kart throttle linkage parts are listed out in the parts kit link above. My cable has the ball on one end and bare wire at the other. Do I put the ball end into that pedal hole and bypass the screw entirely, or do I put the ball end in the engine and then wrap the bare end around the screw? I am planning on making one of my own using 20" steel rods as the frame and 30" as the axle. I was wondering if making a box for gear and slots for multiple speeds and the throttle cable going to the back of the engine, I still don't what I'm gonna do for brakes but I got other things sorted. The downside is that I don't have pedal acceleration just a gear stick :) Do you like my idea! It's gonna be single seated so it's more aerodynamic and my brother ain't gonna get a joyride with meh lol

    you can try checking out with the kit to estimate shipping. If it will go through, then yes. If it stops you, it wont. Some places out of the USA dont let you ship engines, so that might hang it up if you get the engine added.

    I purchased your plans and built the standard live axle go kart. I replaced the centrifugal clutch with a 30 series torque converter. The wheels seem to spin fine when the kart is raised on jack stands but when I try to ride it, it doesn't seem to be getting enough torque to the wheels to get going. I am using the 60T axle sprocket with the 10T converter sprocket. The tires/wheels(145/80-6) and sprocket are keyed into the axle and I am using locking collars. Any ideas? Thanks

  • @KartFab

    @KartFab

    8 жыл бұрын

    I'd start with the throttle arm on the engine. Can you move the lever on its own? There is a friction nut that needs to be loosened. After pulling the lever by hand it should return automatically. Next I'd make sure the go kart throttle cable can move freely within the housing. Once you have all that straightened out, move to the pedal. You might need to buy a decent cable. The cables I use on all my karts are the Manco style and are the best type to use IMO.

    @@KartFab im also 6'3 but im 425lb but i also want to be able to load about 200lbs of bags for camping as i live in CO and we have tons of public trails that go for hundreds of miles but it seems the smallest i can figure is about 7 long 3-1/2 wide and about 4-1/2 tall on the cage to get all the thing i want and i dont ever plan on going over 35 MPH one thought i was having was 2 inch square tube for the main base frame then 1" square tube inch cage but 2 things i keep coming back to is i dont think a 1" axle will work for supporting the frame me and 200 pounds of kit even if i cut it down to 50 pounds of kit and 2 i have no idea how big of an engine i will need to push all that weight im kinda leaving the realm of go kart and dipping into small buggies i do plane on have 4 bearings in the back to stop the axle from flexing on the sprocket i already have a fresh 18 HP electric start engine do i need to go bigger in your opinion? it not going to be doing anything but pulling me thru trails and up a few hills no ripping or jumping what do you think i can do to cut this down other than the obvious me losing weight i'm already working on that

    @@Friedrich-Wilhelm-1980 be careful with the thickness of the steel, if you go too thick its just dead weight. if its an 18 hp make sure its a legit 18 hp (honda gx610-620 or briggs vanguard v twin) those duromax "18" hp engines are actually somewhere around 13-14 hp. The axle really isnt going to be a big deal, what is a big deal is how far from the bearing support you have the wheels set to. You want the wheels as close to the bearing/support as you can get them. If you dont want to go with a 1" live axle, you can always step it up to a solid 1 1/4" used in race karts. There are different qualities of axles as well. I have had good luck with the asuza flex-pruf axles.

    @@Friedrich-Wilhelm-1980 if you are going industrial 4 stroke at 18 hp the 40 series with the biggest driven unit (iirc its about 8" diameter) will be all you really need and just do the math for gearing. You would probably even be ok to gear it for 40 mph with true 18 hp.

    @@KartFab well the 2 inch i was thinking of using is 14g is that overkill? lol and my "18" hp engine is a duro/max looks like ill have to figure something else out ill try the duro/max first since its already unreturnable and ill keep my eyes out for a good deal i mean im ok with low gearing for a year to get my head around it then upgrade it later i mean the whole point of making this it to distract myself from food and hopefully get down to about 280 that said the bearing will be right off the frame and and i plan to have the wheel as close as safely possible im also toying with the idea of using dirt bike wheels because i already have them and they are in good shape OR i have a set of 4 old honda quad rims that would need rubber

    vaishali kankal just find your magneto wires, it’ll be next to the top of the flywheel. Usually it’ll have a break in it with a connector so you can just add your own wire in there and wire it to the dash. Now buy a switch that toggled between connecting the wires and disconnecting the wires
