Nope, I haven't died. Life has just been really busy, so I haven't posted anything in a while.

Man, I almost forgot about your channel its been awhile. he-he. You must be jump'n some with the kart to break the grade 8 bolts. You might have to get "Aircraft" grade or some "Stainless" bolts. Your "Jig" is real nice also. Good Work. =)

you could also cut the nut off, sleeve it,notch the sleeve and weld it up taking away the weak area of the bolt...

Very nice. Building a SpiderCarts (Granddaddy) right now. Just about ready for the motor (10kW + 48V/100Ah Li Ion). Biggest issue I've run into, aside from the somewhat janky design, are the ridiculously soft front shocks. Did you upgrade to something firmer? Oh and BTW, I widened my rear swingarm because of watching your vids. THANKS.

The shocks (front and back) recommended in the plans are WAY too light. I beefed up the back ones significantly, and want to do the same for the front (haven't done that part yet). The back shocks have been holding up, but the front are falling apart.... Glad to hear my videos have been a help.

I wish I would have built the grand daddy.... would be the same overall footprint, but have a spare seat. I have thought about widening the current one, but it would be too much work.

What you can also do is to make a video on making the JIG with dimensions.

Wouldn’t you lose steering when you angle it that much .

Not at all. It makes it more stable. Look up ackerman steering. If the angle you are referring to is the 3 degree angle of the spindle in relation to the DOM tubing, that too stabilizes things more. The front arms are unequal. As the arm compresses the angle of the spindle pitches up (allowing better, safer cornering). When at resting level the spindle is parallel to the ground (again, because of unequal A-arm lengths). Hope that makes sense.

I've been thinking about how you are breaking the grade 8 bolts. A friend used grade 8 on his sea doo and was snapping them as well. He was told to use a lesser grade (grade5) because it would be better in the fact that the grade 5 are more forgiving in some applications then the grade 8. And actually when he stepped down he didn't have that issue again. Not saying this will eliminate your problem but it wouldn't hurt giving it a try.

I used grade 5 the first time, it didn't last as long as the 8

You just need to make it for the size that is needed. The hole in the bolt for the pin is large enough to let the pin pass. The bold fits inside my bearings (5/8" I think but could be 1/2")

what would happen if ya sleeved the bolt at the nut and welded both ends of the sleeve.... it might be stronger at that joint..?or ya could try a 45 degree fillet weld might give it more support...

The company is out of business, I still have the equipment. I wonder if I get my emails correctly. Most of the time I receive an email it is just blank. I figured those are spam engines hitting my website.
