This song is throwback to their punk days. The Go-Go's music of punk mixed with pop became the start of pop punk in the 2000s. Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day said that he was inspired by the Go-Go's.

Stupid Question. What are the background vocals right at the end of the song when Belinda is singing "I'm driving in risk" ? I heard this version first on the live 81 concert at the high school and after 4 decades would really like to know. TIA!

Specifically IILWMC was written by a fellow Gina Shock[er] Roger Taylor. Someone mentioned if Jon Bonham and Gina got together...What about if the two flaxen haired drummers GS & RT got together?...
I was there man! I remember when this song came out I was making out with this 27 year old chick. She kept saying it brought her back to the good old days.I was 17 at the time. Now that I am older and it is my turn to make out with 17 year olds, I mostly just say dont tell your parents.

Or maybe she was singing about something else entirely. "Skidmarks" had a different connotation 35 years ago than it does now.
