GNU | Sanusha Naidu weighs in on the letter from Ramaphosa to Steenhuisen

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has penned a scathing letter to DA Leader John Steenhuisen accusing him of shifting goalposts in negotiations over cabinet positions. In letter seen by the SABC, Ramaphosa says he informed Steenhusinen that they found the letter from DA Federal Chairperson Helen Zille offensive, condescending, and inconsistent with the Constitution.
The DA was demanding 11 ministers and deputy and wanting to fire Director Generals in those portfolios. Ramaphosa in the letter further says the DA has been disruptive and uncooperative in the negotiations unlike other parties.
Let's get more reaction now from political analyst Sanusha Naidu.

The electorate gave this government a clear mandate. Representation in cabinet should be proportional to the number of NA seats in the GNU. Power must be shared equitably. Anything else would be undermining the people's will.

Where can I find this mandate from the electorate about proportionality. You all being carried away by DA's made up delusions. The Constitution states it is the President's prerogative to appoint his cabinet. He can even choose someone not in politics at all if he wanted to. The delusions are off the scale.

Negotiations where always going to be hard with the ANC wanting to give away as little as possible and the DA wanting as much as possible. The biggest winners of the next election will be the MK & EFF if this grand coalition fails. The DA doesn't trust the failed ANC government and the ANC sees the DA as for the white population and not for the black majority so the ANC doesn't trust the DA. The ANC shows the arrogance summed up by what Zuma said. "The ANC will rule until Jesus comes." Negotiations would of been just as difficult with an ANC EFF and MK coalition remember if your constitutioncy doesn't deliver in the coalition cause of lack of positions to make meaningful change or to have a strong enough voice you are doomed to fail.
