GMSH: Structured (Transfinite) Rectangular Mesh (4 Pt)
Ғылым және технология
In this video, we will create a rectangular, structure mesh that can be used in a CFD simulation. This is also called a transfinite mesh. In this particular video, we will be sticking with a simple rectangle defined by 4 points, defining a single zone. In my next video, we will add an extra point along one of the sides so that we can change the grid density along that side (see video below).
If you're interested in how to use this mesh in a CFD simulation, stay tuned for some future videos.

Thanks for the tutorial. Just want to ask since when i exported the file to su2. I can only see those node coordinates to the side lines assigned from physical group.
thanks it is vety helpful for me! Beginner

Hi Josh, I am trying to build a 3D transfinite mesh using GMSH for a very basic CFD problem. Would you be able to help me with it?
Thank you for the video..it's very helpful.@ 3:54 ,I can't understand why it is unstructured, later rectangular elements are made instead of triangular elements without any change in nodes...
mate, is it possible to generate 4 equal triangles in one Catesian control volume using gmsh? That is, i want to transform my Cartesian mesh to regular and uniform triangles. I am unable to do it in Gmsh. Sounds so trivial though.

I honestly don't use GMSH enough to be able to answer your question, sorry! I hope you find the answer though.
have you ever used a .msh file in fluent? it seems like the file format generated by gmsh isn't the same as ICEM
can we generate 3D structured mesh with hex elements using same philosophy?

Yes. You can do almost anything with GMSH.
We have a Discord channel for Gmsh. discord.gg/SXxvTqg , would be a pleasure having you over there as well.
