    I'm a long time viewer and love the vids. I also bought the "Kit" for my 2022 HD AT4. I only paid a Buck and a half from the GM parts store. I looked at the videos of others who had removed everything from the front bumper, windshield, dash and finally the Bolster and I also said H3ll No!! I used the new Bolster as my template and with wide tape, made a mask of the complete left side area, then cut out the open area in the tape. Then aligning the mask on the Existing Bolster and using a very sharp blade, cut out the area. That took me only 40 min. (I work slow - but meticulous). I took me longer to snake that battery cable thru the pea size hole in the firewall. A lot of back and forth from under dash to on a ladder leaning into the engine bay. Ha Ha. When I was finished It was a three beer day. Keep up your good work.

    Nice, Don! I installed the up fitter switches for my K2 Silverado integrated to the stability control switch panel. I don't have an option for the cool relay box you have but, since it's only ground activated, I think the first switch is going to go to my under hood light (same as yours) so if I want to open my hood and not have the light on, I can just hit a switch. Great video about install on the T1 platform, well done!

I have three sets of lights (light bar, cubes and spot lights) and they all come wired with a relay and a connection that runs three wires to a switch. If there are relays with this system, what do I do with the original relays? If there is only one wire now to the switch, what wire do I connect from the original wiring and what happens to the other wires? Thanks for any guidance.

    I've got the upfitter switch kit on the way, are the leads to tie into the switches right there under the dash behind the new knee bolster or do they extend into the engine bay? I was fitting up the light bar last night and wondering if I should run the wires to where the switches will be or if I can just leave them in the engine bay near the battery for now. And the curve of the 22 inch strands housing matches the curve of the opening perfectly, was sweating that until I got it last night and happy with how it looks! Thanks as always!

  • @Donslife

    @Donslife

    4 ай бұрын

    I used a 12v test light to determine which color worked with each switch. It only took a minute. As for a ground for each device. You can ground the device anywhere to the chassis, some of the mounts for the dashboard, various parts of the inner bodywork. Try not to expose bare metal in the process for areas that can rust. There is a ground post under the passenger side of the hood. It is a handy ground for items placed around the front of the vehicle.

    Ford nailed it, ram made it even better, gm decided to make it an option that doesn’t come installed, and if you do install you have to start in the back seat disassembling the center consoles to install the dash panel… this is one of many reasons why I hate upfitting on gm so much…

    I understand that featuring other Parts, including Aftermarket parts is one of the jobs to do here, but the Switching System you currently have is more capable in (My Opinion). hat is a lot of work for Five Analog Switches. Yes, they look more factory. But the Auxbeam Eight Switch System has 3 more switches, connected to your Android Box for iPhone and Eight Inch OEM Display. But again I understand 404Parts is sponsoring this video and parts. Man just a lot of work duplicating and what you already have. LoneStar Hawaiian had a video on this install about a year ago, nice stuff and pricey. Lots of work. Nice Video as always. P.S. Are you aware of the type of Commercials that show up in your videos now? Are the Commercials controlled by others? The 7 Second Poop Trick commercial was just way out there... Ugh. Why they have the fuse boxes inside the cab?? You have to fish all your acc wires inside 🤦‍♂️

    That’s the design. I would recommend fishing into the cab through the passenger side grommet too if your device’s wires are long enough.

    @@Donslife I see. They should’ve left those wires under the hood. Being under the dash means we have to run more wires from outside through the firewall

    Glad GM offers the upfitter switches, but disappointed that you mount the fuse box under the dash. Ford makes it so simple to wire their switches because they mount the fuse box in the engine bay. Having to fish wires through the firewall for each device is dumb.

    It much easier to cut a hole in the existing bolster, that I’m already paying for, and snap the switches in. Only in America do we waste products, just like replacing light fixtures in a new home, that your paying on for the next thirty years.

    For me it would be easier to cut a hole too, but to be fair, this is a demonstration of the kit in this form.

    If I didn’t have to worry about camera work and not blocking the camera while explaining everything….First time, and hour or two. Now, 30-45 mins. Fishing wires through the firewall is always a gamble, especially if you’re alone. Sometimes it takes a few mins. Sometimes you feel like quitting 😂

    No worries. Take your time. Removing the console cup holder section completely makes it a little easier to get the lower trim piece out too. I had taken it off before for a different install, so I knew how it came off. I didn’t need as much room as a result.

    Going from a RAM pickup truck with factory auxiliary switches to I now have a 2023 Chevy I don't understand the design. Ram has a better design The power from the switches goes out underneath the hood and you hook your auxiliaries up underneath the hood. Seems like with the Chevy or GM any auxiliary you want to power you have to run the wire into the cab to the switches seems like it would be a big mess running a bunch of wires into the cab.

    OH, HELL NO! First, $350 is an insane price. Way too much dismantling for generic labeled switches. I just finished installing my Auxbeam G8. Much easier install and better look. Not to mention the strobe, push and hold features. Labeling was great too. The upfitter switches are not worth the price or hassle to install.😁

    comes with a 60 amp main fuse, but the 5 switch fuses total 115 amps. Main is almost 1/2 of the total of the separate switch fuses. I'd think the main fuse should be 100 amps, not 60.
