@@disappointedsteve2962 I'm with both you and the OP. I told myself I couldn't trust a GM vehicle any more. Like you, I own a Grand Am. Those cars should have been recalled. The seals and gaskets are garbage and cause constant leaks both externally and internally. I've had to have head gaskets replaced three times on the 2002 model. Thank goodness I found good machine shops and mechanics that charged a reasonable price. After seeing this news, I can't see how I can support GM. They accepted taxpayer money to save their failing business, ran off with more-than-generous tax cuts, and repaid the taxpayers with: decreased pensions and healthcare for retired workers who already fulfilled their portion of the contract with GM and plant closings that remove jobs from the economy.

Running better then a porch 😂 i love my car men I won’t changed it for nothing. It’s better then any of these new plastic cars that Chevy is making but is a true story men it’s not a lie our American cars not all of them last. My opinion the new cars now on days are garbage, the ones that we owned are solid cars !

Mike Btrfld I have owned a lot of Ford and Chev, company cars the past 33 years, some were great and some were just crap. I just purchased a new Toyota Highlander, never thought I would buy a foriegn car, but my last Ford Explorer sealed that deal, it was terrible. The other reason is there is no such thing as an American car, car parts are from all over the world.

Give me a break..I was laid off from Jeep for 4 years and survived . GM workers can transfer to other plants , take buyout , if over 30 years take a buyout and recieve a pension , collect unemployment and get paid training.

The days of going into a company getting a job doing everything they wanted you to do and then return after 30 years with a good pension or over. Sad times we live in Money Rules once again it's going to be real hard to get through the eye of a needle for some people.

My brother-in-law wasn't affected by trumps tariffs and he says he's doing phenomenal in Nebraska, he grows alfalfa and corn. He made a huge profit this year because of low gas prices. I work in a factory that produces a large number of brakes for GM, as well as a number of other manufacturers. GM is one of our biggest contracts. Thankfully GM isn't the only contract we have.

I'm a independent CPA and our country never recovered since 2008. Employers are replacing their workers with technology and electronics to curb cost and run business 24/7. trying to catch every single sale/$. GM is trying to survive so its shareholders demand their investment back with interest. No job is a guaranteed anymore. Accept it and move on. I worked in construction in my youth then healthcare I came to the reality I didn't want to work for the rest of my life for $13hr. Took out minimum loans and I am a civilian to get my degree. No entitlement for being military or being married. My best advice is I did not eat everyday, I showered at school, slept in my car when doing business trips, daily sacrifices must be made. Do not worship Kardashians, do not buy a Mercedes because your boss and co-workers have one. Stop renting and buy a small house and build it up. Get one car a regular 1/2 ton truck without 22" chrome rims, luxury package, custom speakers you don't need. Use Your Dam Brain!

Dont be mistaken, those factories are not shifted to China from US. China is not exporting significant amount of cars to US. The factories in China is mainly to serve the Chinese market, and they are not built at the expense of American workers. GM can close those chinese factories and it will go down because China is now the biggest market for GM, not US. You have to accept the fact that American companies are getting less competitive and losing out to foreign competitors, both in the international and US domestic market.
