@covfefe I'm kind of amazed nobody has leaked his transcripts. One thing we do know is that he didn't finish well in his class. At the time that he attended, the Dean's List consisted of anybody with a 3.0 average or higher. He never made the Dean's List - we can tell that because it's a publicly published document. That means he had below a B average. And of course the Wharton Prestige is based on their MBA program, which he was not able to be accepted for even though he was a graduate of their undergrad program.

Democrats haven`t had two Senators in years. Michigan is far more of a model for a solid Democratic state. Secondly Trumps policies didn`t lead to this. Low car sales and poor leadership from GM did. @@UrielX1212 Once Trump got rid of the Fuel economy target, Ford basically gave up on cars. GM is following suit. So Trump's policies certainly were a huge part of that. You are right, almost all companies pocketed the tax cut. That's on Trump also. He said that would not happen, but it did. I owned several GM vehicles, but was tired of the crap they were producing. The Ohio plant produced lots of crap. Vegas and Cavaliers, how many do you see on the road anymore? My Dad had two Vegas, they were awful. I'm not saying it was the workers, but they could have contributed to that. I am a USW union worker so I am pro-union. But the UAW got really really greedy at times. Yet GM has sold over 3 million vehicles the last 3 years. They didn't hit that number any year from 2010 to 2014. So they seem to be doing better now then they were 8 years ago. The Ohio plant just didn't produce the best vehicles or models at this time. You would know better then me how your state votes. But Ohio and Michigan both went to Trump. And we know the polls were not accurate at all but this was unexpected. And he stated jobs are coming back. And they are not. My Maryland, huge blue state but with a Republican governor. So strange things happen. So let me ask you, if GM would have announced 3 new plants, in Ohio, in Michigan and in Baltimore, who would have been the first to take the credit?

Look, they voted for him in Ohio and Michigan. He told them “you will win so much, you’ll get sick of winning”. Usually when a plant is actually shuttered down in a city, it becomes a ghost town; houses plummet in value to the point where owners abandon ship and move on. Starting today, who would think of buying property in these towns; these are not exactly retirement locations.

If GM is gonna save 6 billion from closing the plants, why can’t they give just 1.5 billion of that to the laid-off workers? That’ll be about 100,000 per worker. It’s not like a lot lot, but it’s still better than next to nothing. Such an injection of cash in the form of severance packages and jobs training programs etc., can help those communities and cities move on from their past. GM still gets to save the bulk of the money and everyone goes home happy. I really don’t get why everyone acts like there isn’t enough money in the world. There is enough if you spend it and invest it and share it wisely and compassionately, but I guess that’s too much to ask.

The jobs left America when automation killed the worker bee. Everyone was replaced by automation. Now all that's left are engineers, management, and a few operators on the floor and that was what I saw in 1992 at a GM plant in Windsor, Ontario. The decimation of the job force was ages ago. Bringing that back should have taken place in the 70's and 80's. Addressing this 50 years after the fact isn't going to make a dent in the changes that took place.
