This bus was featured in Bus Conversion Magazine with the name “Cool Cruiser.” I did the photos and wrote the article.
Spiffy bus, thanks for the tour, 👍👌❤🇨🇦
A sweet ride, love the conversion. Best shift with a standard transmission. Good Job !
What a beautiful bus and what an awesome driver Frank is, 85 years young and still going strong.
We call that the 'Ninja' shift. This guy has got it down pat!
Don't find a very cool bus driver like Frank and at his age too often, Wow !
This bus is bad ass amazing conversation !!
how awesome is this guy, floating his gears like a pro at 85 wow to him...cool dude
Have To love the cruise control. And a very Nice bus conversion

it's a old truckers trick back when trucks did not have Cruise control
What an amazing ride! Now that’s a man that KNOWS his bus!
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
What a cool guy seems like you really enjoyed meeting these people
That’s the exact bus I’ve been looking for! I absolutely love those older buses and can’t wait to find one like Franks and give her all the upgrades she deserves and then start cruising America!!!!!
Frank can drive that thing! Very fancy conversion. I'm not jazzed by all the horizontal slats everywhere but man otherwise I love it!
That’s a beautiful coach ! I just cringed when popped it out of third and ground it into fourth ! But hay he was 85 , I’ll cut him some slack!
Awesome...When I grow up, I want to be just like this man. As cool as the day is long.. And now I must go and practice my shifting.
Happy birthday Frank!! U rock!
I did Woodworking for a living for 20 years that guy did great work These days you cant afford the price of Teak if you can find someone that will sell it You can see the nautical influence. On the Craftsmanship too Nice job on the shifting Frank ! I cant get tired of that old Bus and the videos I envy you guys the only negative thing i see was the way the blind on top of the drivers windshield Waves around would make me crazy driving ? I dont like things inside the vehicle. Moving around on me it gets too distracting
Wow he drives good I love the camper.
You rock Frank !!👍👍
Awesome, 85 and rollin! Teak wood!!!!
Nice video and a thumbs up.
Enjoyed the video and the bus. Nice conversion but now dated. Especially like that the old bus conversions don't have slides yet are very livable.
I have to say i really truly enjoyed this I'm from FLINT mi so very kool
Frank-Live the dream-Fantastic.
what an impressive conversion!
It's a beauty 😍
Holy crap, its Ernie the night bus driver. Cool bus tho. - Eddy
Buitifull bus lucky guy thanks for sharing 👍
My favorite buses are the PD-4501 Scenicruiser because of the raised portion of the rear upperdeck
That's a really nice bus
Sweet ride.
I think the only thing i would do to that bus if it were mine, would be changing the counter top, everything else is fricken awesome!!
I’d love to have one of them
My cousin inherited her Dads 4104. The engine is bad but the body and glass is in good condition. She just wants it gone and is willing to give it away. She just cant bring herself to scrap it.

Love this!
beautiful..
Wonderful
Nice rig with a "simple is better" design. ;-)
Wow, good luck to him.........
I wish I could spend an hour with Frank to educate him on how to "float gears" at different speeds and different engine RPMs. It would make his driving so much more enjoyable. If you're ever in the Kansas City area, give me a call, I love to pass on the skill/knowledge.

He’s good at it, he just didn’t have his speedometer hooked up, he uses that to know when to shift
new bushes and linkage adjustment for shifter would help
Just found the channel... excellent stuff!!! I`m going to start working on my new purchase... a 1976 GMC 9500 horse with the 6N71.... only 45k original miles... was an old Air Force truck... just sat around mostly I`m told. I have to rebuild the engine she smokes something awful. I put new injectors in... the old ones wouldn`t free up. I`ve rebuilt cat and older cummins engines so this will be my first Detroit. One question though.... can you install the liners then put the pistons in or are they tapered. Awesome channel man.... you`re a damn good wrench!!
Good on him
When I was taught to drive a truck in 1972 I was told the clutch was for first and reverse only. Never double clutched in my life. Cheers!
One thing I don't like is that the storage shelves over the sink and counter are too deep which would make for a sore back or neck when preparing food. Other than that, a beautiful bus indeed!
That "cruise control" is a old truckers trick they would use a broom stick and wedge it on the throttle that was back before trucks had cruise control
Looks like a LSU tailgate bus! Lol Geaux Tigers!

It’s just likes those colors but if he ever goes to sell it i told him LSU country in the place. ;)
What a guy.
I got a 4104 can I have power steering on it because it looks like he is steering that thing with ease
It's neat to get to see stuff like this from the past, when quality was high and people generally had good taste. Glad some moronic schmuck hasn't *modernized* it because it's *dated*. You don't see class and style like this anymore!
To float the gears you have to use the gas pedal. If it's trying to grind....increase or decrease the engine RPMs by pressing on the gas. Have you ever downshifted in a car using the clutch ?........what happens....the RPMs increase....so...to downshift by floating the gears....you have to increase the engine RPMs. Those transmissions are synchronized to shift up or down at certain RPMs........by the way....if that transmission is not supposed to be shifted by floating the gears. Eventually you will have a transmission overhaul in your future. Usually 9speed transmissions and up are meant to have their gears floated. 4, 5 , 6 speeds are not meant to be shifted that way....unless you know for a fact that it's a sychronized transmission.

Spend a little time with an old truck driver, he will show you how to properly float ANY manual transmission. It's all a matter of matching engine speed with road speed for each transmission ratio. You will learn the 'road speed band' for each individual gear, and be able to regulate the engine speed to match and allow a gear change to that proper gear at any time you are within that 'road speed band'. It sounds complicated, but easy to pick up on if you have any mechanical knowledge at all. There is no need to hit the governor every time you need to upshift, at slower speeds and less power demand, you can shift sooner and quicker by not running the engine all the way to governed top speed. I know these comments usually fall on deaf ears, but so many times I wish I could help these owners enjoy their equipment so much more, by educating them about road speed/engine speed/gear ratios.
An air assisted clutch & then you shift without the clutch? I have no earthly clue how this system is supposed to work! Is this normal for this vintage?
What brand used older bus is the best for the money under $10k ? Prevost, MCM, Airstream? Are there any brands that have no fiberglass & wood floors? In other words mainly constructed of Stainless Steel & Aluminum

Bus Grease Monkey I'd like to live in a bus. At least I think I'd like to, my ' Domesticated Partner ' isn't too fond of the idea but I think she'd come around. How did you get into the hobby of buses?
Why don't you want to use the clutch?
Cool bus! I wonder why he seems so scared to use the clutch? Grinding gears isn't "good" for the transmission in my humble opinion.
@ShainAndrews

Might be tough on his leg, knee or hip. Lots of guys float gears as much as possible. Occasional grind is not a big deal. Floating gears without a tach and the engine clear at the back takes some practice.
@79tazman

using the clutch is great if you don't have to use it much but if you do your leg get's tired after a while of stop and go driving that's why lot's of truckers float gears. Imagine driving 12 hours of up and down shifting using the clutch every single gear it get's tiring on the leg after a while

Done with help from an architect? I just can't see anything that your standard MH Conversion shop wouldn't do. Between interior designers and architects, I'm not sure which is less useful for such a project. Nice bus though

Do those transmissions have a clutch brake like the semi's do? That stops the gears from spinning so you can put it in gear from a dead stop without grinding.

Grab N Gear's
You should take lessons on how to shift, it is about matching road speed to rpm not how many seconds.
@williamdegnan4718

On the upshift, you run the engine up to the governor, put light pressure on the shifter and it will pop out of gear. Foot off the accelerator, count three and slip it in to the next gear. Been a while since I have driven a coach. But, it is sweet. I also love the way they handle in tight quarters. I remember running the driver mirror an inch off a building wall for about 30 feet and hearing passengers suck in their breath. Then cranking in a smooth, hard turn, to line up to the platform curb.

@@williamdegnan4718 again, don't count three. Listen to the rpm and then shift when it matches road speed.
