1960 GMC 4104 Bus Conversion for Sale 29K Rebuilt engine turnkey SOLD

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This gorgeous bus has been tenderly restored from the bottom up. HISTORY VIA exodusbus ... 4104 4968 was delivered to the (privately owned) San Diego Transit System along with #4967. These two 1960s joined about five other charter coaches there. When in 1967 the private company's assets were taken over by the (public) San Diego Transit Corporation, Chuck Ruane of Goodall's Bus Service in San Diego sued, or threatened to sue, SDTC, claiming that public entities were forbidden to maintain charter fleets. There was a settlement, and SDTC divested themselves of their charter coaches - I think six 4104s bought new and one 4106 obtained used.New paint in 2011 with a brand new Onan Quiet Diesel 8000 Generator. Rebult engine with new radiator and generator. Wiring all original and and works perfect. @ new A/C units on top and new awnings. Tires on alcoa rims are very good. Rust free and starts right up as you can hear. The interior has a new microwave. 5.1 surround sound system with 5 speakers up front and two remote in rear. Highest quality speakers and system. Ice Box works off propane, 12V or 110. All appliances work perfect. The bed is new. Chairs and couches all reupholstered in 2011. The bus drives great down the road. No power steering but not bad since the gearing is such to make it steer easily when rolling. Hope you like my update to my old video!

I was all but raised in a 1960 4104. It was an entertainer. Had the Spicer transmission as I recall - same as here I think. Anyway that old bus was immaculate and bulletproof. I’d sure like to have it now in the shape it was in then. I love these buses.

It is nice you left the manual transmission. Too many idiots have no clue how to drive one so they demean it. Besides, you get better fuel economy with a stick. Nice unit. I put thousands of miles on a fleet of 4104s and a pair or 4107s and have fond memories.

Thx for the comment Dave. When I was a wee lad we only were able to travel on buses due to dad leaving mom and mom not driving. I fell in love with the impressive sounding engine. I always wanted one but knew it was a crazy idea at any age. Then I found this x greyhound bus and fell in love with it. Loved learning to double clutch it and sometimes challenging myself to not use the clutch at all! The good drivers always knew how back in the day! Anyway thanks for the comment!

Such a cool classic. That, I believe, is the "screamin' jimmy" detroit engine that sounds so awesome revved up. Great conversion and it's fully self contained. I'd love to own such a machine, but can't afford it =/

OMG I love those big Detroit's, dump truck I drove years ago had them, 2 stroke diesel engines, have a blower for forced induction, to create the pressure required for combustion, they lope like that when they are cold. There is nothing you can put on them to lug them down, our trucks were overloaded often, you'd not know it if it weren't for the suspension, the engine would never lug down.

I'm laughing at the armchair Detroit mechanics in the comments. First off the loping idle is typical Detroit cold start. Notice how it smooths out about two minutes in? Second a bad injector would have a significant dead hole sound especially noticeable on a six followed with some smoke. Third I don't remember Detroit making a 8V-91. 8V-92 yes. I would also take a gearbox any day, preferably a Fuller 10 speed. These things like to stay up in the R's to hold on to the power curve. Looks sano. Nice bus!

I Don't Need to run 150 mph to the Next Red Light !!!! I want a Million Mile motor that is gonna hum a sweet song , like Only a Detroit can as I go along my merry way , To Hell with a Valve suckin Cummins , Paccar, OR AND Cat !!!! Thank you for making My day !!!! John

There's an adjustment to smooth the idle if loping continues after a couple minutes. The intermittent horn like sound is the suspension leveling. Went crazy with the GM green paint. Rear cover and air filter missing from generator. Very nice conversion. 4 speed stick shift is just fine. Bus will do 74 mph just as is.

It is a nice bus. Probably worth whatever someone paid for it. However, just like any older equipment, this baby is going to need TLC all the time to keep it going down the road. You might say that is true of any machine. I am thinking of all the electrical systems and hydraulics on a bus of this age. If it is not a total reconstruction, wheels up, I don't want it.

Not too bad noisy place to have the bedroom at the back of the bus like that the only other thing I don't like about that outfit is that short nose like on the old 1960s half ton vans, your the first one at an accident everyone else inside will be ok except the driver, they love those old buses in Mexico they drive them until there is literally nothing left of them to drive anymore.
