i wish i could see/read the game this fast. i’ve (shamelessly) lost every blitz game i’ve ever played cause there’s just no way i can read the board this quick. i discovered (and fell in love with) chess pretty late at 23, but man it’s so much fun. great video!!

I started at 27, I only play blitz 5 or 3+2, and yes, the feeling that we started too late is always present. But don't be disappointed, if you really like the game and take seriously about the theory and practice and practice you can be a very decent player.

Don knows what he’s doing, that’s for sure. We are seeing some really good games lately. Thank you. Inspiration is good. ✌🏼😄

As an English opener, I'm always on the lookout for that bishop stab and retreat! Also, that early mid-game for an English opener. Any time a knight jumps into a center square, take the extra time to explore lines. Almost always a tactic regardless of whose knight it is

Chess starts with a premise of 50/50 , equal pieces, equal value pieces and such. War is hardly ever fair or even. But chess is definitely a smart 🤓 person's game

oh did someone forget to tell you... Hikaru is one of the best if not THE best bullet chess player there is.. kinda his specialty. So... giving him just one min to play a game is like putting a fish into water.

Grinning from ear to ear, Hikaru gets it done. Brilliant viewing.

I like how Hikaru is an elite level pro worth millions of dollars showing love to regular players who enjoy the game. Truly you have to respect him for that.

I started playing chess like 3-4 days ago and ive only played like 3-5 games, for some reason youtube is flooding my feed with chess vids and ive never looker even one up before. Loving it so far

I love these videos, the variety of people willing to sit down for a game of chess is just great. I'm more inspired then ever to get good after having watched videos similar to this.

ive just started learning to play (im 33!) and this channel has made the game feel so damn hype, i really appreciate it. and excited to learn and get better!! and of course to eventually talk some trash!! :)

Maybe not. Very, very likely not - but it could have slowed Hikaru down enough to let him time out. The extra pawn could've been worth the 4 seconds

@@Ephedr1n I think hikaru is the fastest GM blitz player in the world (OTB). If he was down a pawn, he would probably play differently and in accordance with that situation. Being a pawn up vs a player 1000 ELO above you does not mean that you are in the lead. Even positionally, let alone winning the game. If Hikaru was down a pawn against Caruana or Carlsen etc I would understand that this is significant.

The thing is, that the pressure Hikaru have in the position he built almost makes it impossible for you to want to go for that pawn. Anyway Don played really well

@@michaelmurray6577 exactly being down a pawn vs another 2500+ he'd almost certainly lose but being down a pawn vs someone who isn't a GM or at the very least IM means he's still winning 90%+ probably 99%

I really respect Hikaru turning up to play these wonderful folk.
