    Great Vlog Jason! Wow! It's hard to believe you've had your car a little over a year. I remember when you first picked it up. The wheel gap is annoying and that was the first thing I had done was getting the Dealership to drop it down using the stock bolts and I went from 4 fingers to two. Huge difference. I also see your dilemma with your driveway and the experience the same I just angle it as much as possible and it barely scraps. Tell your neighbors to move the truck lol!Also, I changed out the Brembo pads to the Hawks Ceramic and it made a world of difference with the brake dust. I'm talking, night and day. Also changed out the cargo lights and license plate lights to LED!! Big difference as well. Other than that, I'm driving the Wheels off of this car!! 4500 miles in 9 months! Again great Vlog Jason. General Lee Out!!

    I’ve not read all of the comments as this is an older video, so someone likely mentioned this, but here it is. I assume you know that you can lower that car using the stock lowering bolts; it’s quite easy. Important to use the stock bolts. Your dealership can do it quickly and cheaply and you’ll get nearly an inch off of it. And easy to do yourself if you’re willing. 👍

    Excellent video Jason. I whole heartily agree that on any future purchases, the Carbon Ceramic brakes are the ONLY way to go. Like you, I have no complaints about the stopping ability from the factory brakes, but the brake dust has become the bain of my existence. I did replace the factory metallic pads with Hawk ceramics and it does help, but ultimately there is dust, just a lighter color so the dust is not as noticeable. And of course, replacing the whole system with the factory Carbon Ceramic option is waaay too costly. As to the stance of your GS, I totally agree with rear of yours. It is high. I would experiment to see how much lower you can get it using the factory bolts. That was my first step and I did gain some reduction in height and it did not effect the clearance, or lack thereof, of the front. Keep in mind my GS is a C6 with the ZR1 splitter and I am lower than your C7. I was actually pleased with the factory setting for the front and due to its low clearance I actually had the front raised up with factory bolts. Still like the stance and gained a slight improvement in ride height. FWIW, I actually have lowering bolts on order to further lower the rear. Stay tuned. As to your PDR, does that come standard with a 2 or 3 LT option pkge., or is it an option unto itself like the racing seats, or the Carbon Ceramic brakes, aero pkge etc? Lastly, have you had the upgraded suspension software installed? My understanding is that it is noticeable in tour and sport mode. Maybe the upgrade would remedy the service message you were receiving? As always, Save the Wave.

  • @FrontSeatDriver

    @FrontSeatDriver

    Hi Peter!! I didn't realize you still got a fair amount of brake dust with the Hawks Ceramic pads. I still may do that. I may try lowering just the rear. It would have to look better.

    Definitely try lowering just the rear. Take measurements of your current ride height first and then again after lowering. I only obtained about 3/8ths lower height and no alignment was necessary, all the settings remained the same, but if you're lucky to actually see a lower height, then I would say to have the alignment check. FWIW, whether you "play" with lowering or not, have all four corners of yours checked. I've heard so many comments that right from the factory the alignments are off and mine was no exception. Three out of four were off from factory recommended settings and the specialist I went actually interviewed me first as to how I drive the Vette and/or did I plan to track it and if so on which track(s) because the alignment he would do would take those factors into account. All the best.

    I would think you would have a comparable place, or two in Texas. I only became aware of this establishment during a visit to my Dentist who has become a personal friend through the years because he was a "car guy." Well, I didn't know how much of car guy he was until I told him I was going out to Bowling Green for three days and part of my visit would be to run on the new Motorsports track. Now he became very interested. He had never heard of a track at Bowling Green, but he knew a whole lot about the Nurburgring and Monticello Motor Club in NY state. As it turns out he was a member of the Monticello Motor Club, which is very, very expensive, as well as being a member of the Garden State Porsche Club and owned and raced two Porsche's that were dedicated to racing only and he was a very successful high-end amateur racer. I was educated on tires and more importantly, alignment. He put me touch with a privately owned firm which is the only place his Porsche club members go, whether they race or not. So the short answer is, just network around your area to find those that possibly track race and where they go for tires and alignment. Such a place will give you a whole new perspective as to what your Vette is capable of to say nothing of better tire wear that the out-of-alignment factory settings do not give you. I also received advice on tire brand, which is only Michelin, and on tire size which actually led me to purchase all new Michelins and went a size up in the fronts. FWIW, my C6 GS came with Goodyear Eagle Run Flats. I will never purchase Goodyears again, but that's a whole other in story. Just don't go to the dealer or to Pep Boys for tires or alignment. LOL Sorry for the length of reply, but I am known as "The Man of Few Words" and have reputation to maintain. :-)

    To me the Grand Sport C7 would be the perfect car if only they use the forged internals of the C7 ZO6. That would make it the no brainer choice for someone who intended to mod the car. The factory blower is pointless for those who want big power and often gets ditched in favor of a ProCharger etc. Had the GS had the forged engine, you could save the extra cost of the Z06, and go right to an aftermarket blower for big numbers without motor work.

    The light blue highlights on the interior are awful, they seem so out of place, its hard to believe a designer at GM made that an option, I just don't get it ( the emporer's new clothes ?) . even more surprising is the amount of people who think that is good looking. just my opinion, i could be wrong. BTW when you take your car to the track, get this stuff called track wrap ($35 for a roll on amazon) yes it looks crappy, its much thicker than expel, may actually give better protection , peel it off before you drive home.

    Your brake dust is coming from the slotted rotors, not the brake pads. Replace the rotors with the smooth surface rotors and your brake dust is gone. You will thank me later.

    I talked with Corvette World about doing it. They said I'm right at the point where I can do it but if I wait much longer I will need to change to rotors. It's still like $900 though. Seems kinda high but I guess the brake pads are pretty expensive.
