GM Bok and Mittens Meet Again...
Chess Grandmaster Benjamin Bok has beaten Mittens twice when it played a dubious variation of the Dutch Defense against the Dutch Grandmaster. However, in this game the chess.com bot Mittens played a much more solid opening. Will Benjamin still be able to win and save chess humanity?
The content in this video was live-streamed on Benjamin's Twitch channel. GM Hikaru Nakamura (GMHikaru) has also played Mittens on numerous occasions. IM Levy Rozman (GothamChess) has also played the chess.com bot Mittens and has made multiple videos about Mittens the chess bot, such as games against Mittens, Magnus Carlsen's bot, and Stockfish.

With the help of Stockfish and some trial and errors I found an interesting line where you can checkmate Mittens in only 18 moves. I thought it was an interesting line, maybe you could make a video about it? Basically you need to start with e4 and resign a few times until mittens responds with Nf6 (Alekhines Defense). Then the game goes like this (replayed it and Mittens went for the same moves again): 1. e4 Nf6 2. Nf3 g6 3. e5 Nd5 4. c4 Nb6 5. c5 Nd5 6. Bc4 c6 7. Nc3 Nxc3 8. dxc3 Bg7 9. h4 b5 10. Bb3 a5 11. Ng5 O-O 12. h5 a4 13. hxg6 hxg6 14. Qg4 axb3 15. Rh8+ Kxh8 16. Qh4+ Bh6 17. Qxh6+ Kg8 18. Qh7#

Nice game! One of the flaws that Mittens has it that sometimes it goes for losing openings

@@GMBenjaminBok i suppose now mittens can be beaten as white and as black, although white is much more standard. eric rosen made a video on the lucchini which i highly recommend, he was the inspiration for the game :)

Hi Ben, when you where calculating in the position @20:55, did you think about checking on c7 at all? Or did you know it did not really do anything, because mittens can just move the king back and keep the queen guarding the pawn?

I considered that, but the queen endgame would not be easy to win. I knew that if I would calculate the pawn endgame correctly, Mittens would not have a single chance to save the game.

After pawn to f4 then pawn h3 to h4 then pawn g2 to g4 then to g5 to attack the queen the queen is prevent from taking the pawn. What do you think. Ben

@@GMBenjaminBok At 16:19 move f3 to f4 to protect the queen then h3 to h4 in prep to move g 3 to g4 then g4 to g5 black h6 takes g5 t5hen h6 takes g5 now what does the queen do.. It is attack by the pawn and the queen . If the queen takes the queen then the pawn on f 4 takes the queen. What do you think. 4 pawn to 3 you should win. Have a great day. love you games. Ben
