This is how I glue a maple top on a 'Fender' style arm contour.

This is so awesome. I wish more luthiers were willing to use this technique for bending thicker drop tops over forearm contours. Many aren't, and the customer is forced to settle for a thin veneer top, or for having the top wood cut through (so that the core body wood shows through on the forearm contour), or having no forearm contour at all.

Thanks, yeah some luthiers find this daunting.
Huh. I want to make my own guitar in the near future, this was an issue I might have ran in. Well it's not an issue anymore ! Thanks !
Looks logical, well explained! Good solution to make those grooves in the wood... funny that once finished you don't see that contour as a straight edge ;-) If I would make that same model many times, then perhaps make a 'negative' mold in wood on the CNC, using those same pinholes, to apply even pressure across the entire top... Of course when creating custom models all the time that would be quite inefficient ;-)

+Gerald Vos I thought of that too but in that case a vacuum gluing press will be ideal.
Maestro, when is a top considered veneer? how thick in mm does a top have to be to pass as a real maple top vresus a veneer?
If you had a burl piece and needed to stabilize with resin, do you stabilize before or after gluing to the contour?

That’s a good question. I never had the occasion to do it with a burl top so far, but I will be doing one very soon and honestly I was wondering that too.
Very cool videos ... Any source of figured wood in malta? And maybe some purple heart ? ... Cheers , very nice to see someone from malta do this !!!

Thanks, unfortunately no. I'll get my figured wood from ebay, and I haven't seen purple heart in Malta.

@@ManicaroCustomGuitars there's a guy on facebook in the luthier group called derek kimbal , he has figured wood especially maple that is KILLER
did you only use a heatgun, or did you soak the top with water too?

Occasionally I did spray some water but didn't soak entirety.
Curious why tape and not just use glue? Seems as though the guid nails worked just fine to keep the top from any shifting? Not a hater just curious that’s all. Trying to absorb all the knowledge and wisdom I can! Thank you for the share!

The tape is used so I don't get glue in those channels.
Hmmm. What about the places where the top and body were not clamped together?

+Colin North there was a nice amount of glue squeeze out along all the edge, I'm pretty sure there's no issues.
Vacuum bags are like €80.00.
