@@jkapp8617 with no relegation the teams in a slump don’t tend to improve. Worcester were woeful last year. Bath this year but they can shrug it off as shit happens because there aren’t any consequences this year and probably not next year either because Ealing weren’t allowed to be promoted this year. If you finish last in a league why do you deserve to be there? You’re essentially just making the numbers.

As a Bath fan, it's difficult to say where the team can go from here. I thought the mid-season thrashing to Saracens was rock-bottom. It turns out that I was wrong. First off, Glaws played excellently here, no doubt about it. A massive well done to them! However at their very worst, Bath should at least be competitive. There was no competition here, Bath got absolutely annihilated. It seems no one at Bath cares anymore and there is this positive feedback loop of failure which has become the accepted norm. Consistent, almost routine failure for a team in any competitive sport is never a good thing. Maybe relegation would actually be the kick-up-the-backside that the management finally needs to get rid of the dead wood. Who knows? I just hope Bath can get out of this rut and get back to playing the rugby we know they can play. C'mon Bath!

Rugby is bang in trouble. This is going to be used to intentionally get players sent of, if it isn't already being used for that purpose. If that is a yellow card then every single tackle in rugby is potentially a yellow card, no matter how good the tackle technique. He had about 2 metres reaction time at full sprint (about a quarter of a second), to get to a legal contact point as a result of the players slip. Legal in this tackle would have been below knee height as the ball carrier's head was around knee height. This is physically impossible for the tackling player. The picture that the tackling player sees right up to 250 milliseconds before contact is the same as in every tackle that gets made on a rugby pitch . The player could slip , or cynically duck, at the very last second and the player is carded as a result.

Whatever is left of rugby as we know it is finished if that is a yellow card (Seabrook, minute 64). This kind of interpretation will be used to intentionally get players sent off, if it isn't already, and sooner or later it's going to determine a major cup final and then the shit's going to really hit the fan. If that is a yellow card then every single tackle in rugby is potentially a yellow card, no matter how good the tackle technique. The tackler had about 2 metres reaction time at full sprint (about a quarter of a second!), to get to a legal contact height as a result of the carrier's slip. Legal in this tackle would have been below knee height as the ball carrier's head was around knee/thigh height. This is physically impossible for the tackling player within that reaction space, unless they don't go for the tackle in the first place. Most alarmingly, the picture that the tackling player sees there right up to 250 milliseconds before contact is essentially the same as in every tackle that gets made on a rugby pitch . Any carrier could slip or cynically duck deliberately at the very last second, and the tackling player is off. Cards open up the game of rugby and are essential deterrents, and I generally think there should be more of them in rugby personally, not less - but for the right reasons. Rassie was right about the standard of officiating (in the Lions series, and his action plan to save the game looks good. World Rugby had better quit making him a scapegoat for their own actions and omissions along with every other player or coach who speaks up, and act quick, because there's trouble up ahead if that's a yellow.

He’s probably 95-100kg, running at full tilt - how in the f are you supposed to stop. He made the effort to dive over the top of the bath player, that should not be a yellow at all. Looking back at it again, the bath player didn’t start dropping until Seabrook was about 30cm away. Absolutely impossible to avoid. Penalty AT MOST.

@@mylesmw Yeah I gave him a couple of metres for argument's sake but if you factor the milliseconds it takes him to actually register the player is dropping, he bascially has zero reaction time. Yellow card for that is bullshit in my opinion as the only way he avoids giving away a yellow there is by not making one at all, at which point we're obviously not playing rugby anymore. Other than letting players be the owners f their own health and welfare decisions and rugby recognising there are going to be occasional head contacts in this sport, I really dont see how rugby gets out of this. One of the fundamental aspects of rugby used to be respect for your opponent. It set rugby apart from other sports, especially given the physical nature of the game. It’s what attracted many of us to rugby in the first place. You could always tell the classy players and organizations by the way they conducted themselves on and off the pitch. That fundamental respect is eroding, as illustrated by comments like yours that think it is acceptable to taunt and demean a defeated opponent. Kids watching that behaviour at pro level will emulate it at club level. There’s already far too much poor behaviour throughout rugby. A kid on the receiving end will go do something else. A young referee subject to abuse will walk away. If you truly believe that behaviour is acceptable, try it at work on Monday. Get in your boss’s face, scream at him, wave your fist, and mock his effort if it doesn’t meet your approval. See what happens.
