Whoa, the new guy fits way better than I expected. Still hoping they invent a new persona for him, since another guy as Angus McFife in an Angus McFife outfit feels wrong no matter how good a singer he is. Thanks for the upload!

@@SilverGreyscale quite late response but Angus Mcfife the 13th died in the last album, and the first album told the story of Angus the 1st, and as said by chris the next album will be about angus the 5th iirc

Sozos Michael has such an amazing voice! Of course, Thomas Winkler's voice is the OG shit and all, but give the "new guy" (stop calling him that, its disrespectful) a chance. His voice might be softer, but he has great control over it. Also, since Winkler started doing music as Angus McSix, we now have Winkler's OG voice on its own, and GloryHammer aswell. Look at it like this, we technically have Gloryhammer and Gloryhammer 2: Return of the fallen.

Awesome job by Sozos!!! This is quite reasuring and I think the case with him and Gloryhammer is similar to what happened with Dragonforce with Mark Hudson (in my opinion at least). While Winkler is a great vocalist and Sozos is not necessarily better, the fact that Sozos has a different style will bring freshness to Gloryhammer's sound in their future work. But yeah, definitely a great replacement.

I’m glad they didn’t pick somebody similar to Thomas, feels like it’s not a replacement as much and is different so don’t feel like I’m comparing as much.

@@earlenglish4674 i think it's actually pretty damn hard to find someone who sounds like thomas. probably his voice techniques are too harsh to his vocal chords in the long term. hell, he was sounding quite bad in well recorded footages well before he was quicked. so it's very hard to find someone for a "silly" metal band who have the technical capacities do that vocal style, without fucking himself in the long term.

Thanks for uploading this Joseph! Still miss Winkler but I think Sozos is doing a great job all things considered!

Hes got the voice like easily, but like other people are saying there was a sort of energy that is missing right now. Probably cause he just started and getting used to the energy of what Gloryhammer has, and I'm sure he will get to it too just more practice. It feels like hes there to just sing not be "Gloryhammer". But again his voice is damn good and he got it for Powermetal style.

I'll wait for some studio recording, as it's hard to judge by this recordings quality - but for me his voice is too "clean" and soft - I really don't know how to describe it. It just does not have the power and grit that i expect in this song.

Fair enough, each to their own. If you want a studio recording of his vocals check out his channel where he sang Legendary Enchanted Jetpack. Also album 4 is in the works so we will hear more then.

@@josiebullock117 i was thinking more of a high quality recording of siege of dunkeld to compare. I just went back and watched the live at Wacken, and for me that one was 10 times better. I'm not saying that the new guy is bad, his voice is great, but it lacks the power that i know those songs have in them. There's just too many high notes and not enough aggressive lows. (Sorry for my bad english)

Just goes to show you that the more technically proficient singer isn't always the best option to go with. To me the classic GH sound and style will never be the same without Thomas Winkler at the helm. Considering Sozos's mannerisms they probably should rewrite the GH rulebook a bit for the next album.

For me, he really has a voice perfect for musicals. Broadway would kill for this guy

Also, Sozos sounds surprisingly a lot like Winkler here.

To me, personally, Thomas was bringing something unique, which, I think, has attracted me to the band. And this guy, can't deny he is quite skillful, but he is felt same with a lot of others, kinda plain. Maybe It's just cuz he is still doesn't have his own character in the GH universe and seeing him singing songs about Angus is pretty awkward also, new album will show I guess Updated: Well, checked Legendary enchanted jetpack on Michael's channel, and.. yeah.. he made it look so easy, now I got why many people were writing "incredible" and staff. At this point, I think, it is just that psychologycal thing, when you like the most way you saw (in this case - hear) something for the first time, because Tom for me is still a soul of those three albums' story. But now I'm not that sad at least and looking forward for a new album

About a month or so ago Thomas Winkler was kicked out of the band for reasons not fully explained and at the first gig of the tour new singer Sozos Michael was revealed. While it is sad Winkler is gone Sozos is absolutely incredible

Winkler was fired for reasons we don't know other than it was over "business" and organizational manners, most likely it had to do with character rights or even money, probably both..

Sozos is the much better singer… Any more of this show please please post!? are you gonna? :)

Sadly I didn't get any other full songs recorded from the gig since it took up a lot of storage on my phone. I got a few clips but really not much of his vocals. I believe there are a few other videos people have uploaded across the tour of his incredible vocals.

He does sound good but he doesn’t give me the same vibe as Thomas did when I first started listening to gloryhammer it made me feel like banging my sword against my shield and shouting glory to Dundee also the king 👑 of Dundee

He sings great but he's lacking Thomas' goofiness on stage.

True, but it might be on purpose. Consider how the split between Gloryhammer and Thomas happened and how the fans reacted, plus the controversy that followed with the leaked dms and all of that stuff. Sozos was in a very tough spot in this debut and he had to convince the fans he fits right away. Probably the best choice was to focus mostly on his skills as a singer and considering what I read around it was the right choice. His voice is different but it fits the style of Gloryhammer and on a purely technical standpoint, he's very likely a better singer than Thomas. Most fans were very impressed with him. The goofiness, the "character" work can come later, especially once they create a character that is just his, whether it is a new Angus McFife incarnation or a brand new character.

@@BlackWind90 I agree. Copying the Angus McFive character like Thomas portayed him wouldn't be the right choice. They should give Sozos a new character together with the next album. but right now Sozos is acting like your generic power metal singer and that takes away alot of the special charme of Gloryhammer. I don't know if Thomas had anything to do with the lieaked chat protokolls and the alligations of abuse. I would rather assume someone else took the opportunity. My guess is the fired Thomas either because he wanted too much money, too much right to have a say or he didn't want to do certain dates they had planned. Maybe all of it. But that's just my guess.

Sozos' voice was absolutely amazing live and he did have a fair bit of goofiness on stage, but I do think that copying Thomas' stage presence would be a bad idea. Best to have his own way of doing things on stage.

Guess Thomas Angus has taken the hammer with him when they split. The Gloryhammer without the actual fucking hammer. Kinda feels very shitty that they killed him off in The Fires of Ancient Cosmic Destiny and then kicked him out. Very sceptical about this new guy, but I guess I'll have to wait till the 4th album is out to judge properly.

They did have the original hammer with them, they brought it out during the song Gloryhammer. It was one of the things Thomas didn't take, but he did take the armour with him, love this new armour though.

Great and all, but I miss the real Angus...

Sozos is great singer and in terms of "quality" he's fat better than Thomas. But he just sounds like generic power metal singer.

Disgusting, this lost all the strength it had. I'm not saying this guy is a bad singer. But his voice tone is absolutely normal. One more among many singers. The identity that characterized them has been lost.. Bye Gloryhammer.

I'll tell you if you heard it live you'd think otherwise. While yes Thomas had a lot more "gravel" to his voice, Sozos is still brilliant and powerful in his own right. Each to their own though I guess. I'd also rather him have his own vocal style rather than try and copy.

Without Winkler, this sounds just like any lame power metal band. Soft, tinkerbelly, and forgetable

Compared to Tom, it's like a kid is singing.

Gloryhammer without Angus? RIP For such a band, based entirely on the concept, to lose the main element, which in this case was the singer, is equivalent to distorting the group. the only thing that could work is to create a new character for the new singer but it would be difficult to understand if people like him. Sticking thomas pg to the newcomer in my opinion is bullshit ...
