This version of the song is my favorite and this is how we sang it in mass as a child. I've heard other versions. but to me this is the most reverent version.

I love singing this at my parish! Every time I sing the Gloria remember the saying that who ever sings at mass prays twice as much.

My church where I went to school sings the Gloria this way...it's one of my favorites, it's so beautiful. Back home, however, we don't even sing the Gloria...it's just spoken. The same with the responsorial psalm...and it makes me sad because I love singing in church.

why did they change the mass from this to what they have now, which is like some commercial tune. This is majestic and wonderful, now it's trite.

John 5:29. Those who are not evil will not perish into eternal suffering. 2 Samuel 14:14. After death there is a chance to accept God. Ignorance does not deserve hell. The Christ is above all and loves to a degree that we will never understand. Ignoring Jesus will bring suffering in this life we are in but unbelief is not an automatic ticket to hell. I believe hell is for those who are truly evil.

If anyone at all can provide me with the sheet music OR EVEN THE COMPOSER WHO ARRANGED THIS, I would be so grateful. I grew up listening to this version and then moved away from the church I had gone to, when I came back a year later, the music had been changed, and it just doesn't feel right to me anymore. I don't want to lose this, if anything, so if anyone knows this particular arranger, please let me know. God, do I miss this...

It is clear that Jesus will separate the Goats from the sheep, the wheat from the chaff. To suggest that everyone will get to Heaven no matter what is a False Gospel that gives people a false hope. Jesus tells us the path to Heavens Gate is hard and narrow and the road to Perdition is wide and easy. Have no doubt Jesus will discriminate against those who have ignored His Gospel.

You may be right, however, the original Latin is not necessarily right. The Church and its people have become more sophisticated overtime. We are more inclusive today. I find the new lyrics both offensive and bigoted. I refuse to sing that the Lord only wishes Peace upon a select few. He wants Peace for ALL OF HIS PEOPLE (AKA all of Earth). "Peace to people of goodwill" is taking the Church back to the age where only certain people (Those who agree with YOU) are due the peace of the Lord.
