Glock 30 .45 ACP
Спорт
We give our thoughts on the outstanding Glock 30, in .45 ACP. Accurate and hard hitting, it's a good option for folks looking for a.45 in a relatively small package. Note:This was a dead tree!
The Glock 30, chambered in .45 ACP, is a compact and powerful pistol with several advantages, particularly for those who prefer a .45 caliber handgun. Here are the key advantages of the Glock 30:
Key Advantages
Compact Size: The Glock 30 is designed to be compact, making it an excellent choice for concealed carry. Its smaller size compared to full-sized pistols in .45 ACP makes it easier to carry and conceal without sacrificing firepower.
High Caliber Power: Chambered in .45 ACP, the Glock 30 delivers substantial stopping power. The .45 ACP round is known for its effectiveness in self-defense situations due to its larger bullet diameter and energy transfer.
Magazine Capacity: Despite its compact size, the Glock 30 offers a respectable magazine capacity, typically holding 10 rounds in the standard magazine. Extended magazines are also available for those who desire additional capacity.
Reliability: Like all Glock pistols, the Glock 30 is known for its reliability. It functions well in various conditions, including adverse environments, making it a dependable choice for personal defense.
Durability: The Glock 30 is built with a polymer frame and a Tenifer-treated steel slide, which are resistant to corrosion and wear. This durability ensures a long service life and consistent performance.
Safe Action System: Glock's Safe Action system includes three passive, independently operating mechanical safeties (trigger safety, firing pin safety, and drop safety), ensuring the pistol is safe to carry and operate.
Ergonomics: The Glock 30 features a comfortable grip that is designed to fit a wide range of hand sizes. Its design allows for a firm and secure hold, which is crucial for managing the recoil of the .45 ACP round.
Modularity: The Glock 30 is compatible with a variety of aftermarket parts and accessories, allowing users to customize the pistol to their preferences. This includes sights, grips, and other enhancements.
Ease of Maintenance: The Glock 30 is easy to disassemble and clean, making maintenance straightforward. This ease of maintenance contributes to its reliability and longevity.
Recoil Management: While the .45 ACP round has substantial recoil, the Glock 30's design helps manage recoil effectively. The dual recoil spring assembly reduces felt recoil and enhances the shooter’s control over the pistol.
Summary
The Glock 30 in .45 ACP combines compact size with the power of the .45 ACP round, making it a formidable choice for concealed carry and self-defense. Its advantages include high stopping power, reliability, durability, and ease of maintenance, along with a user-friendly design and customizable features. These qualities make the Glock 30 a popular and effective option for those seeking a powerful and reliable compact pistol.

I live in NYS. Got my CCW license after waiting six months. (a short wait in this state!) Picked up my CCW license at 10am. Went immediately to gun store. Took possession of a Glock 30 at 12:30pm. (had to run back to the Pistol Permit office from the store to get the pistol registered, then back to the store to pick it up, with a 40-minute drive time each way!) After a forty-minute drive to the gun range, I was nailing the bullseye from 50 feet. That was a good day.

Sir, a good way to work on accuracy is to start at 3 yards once you can put all your shots in a string of 5 shots. Once you have those 5 shots within a 1 inch spread, step back 1 yard and do the same thing ... Keep this process going to you find your max distance where you can accurately deliver Hits. I have worked with several students in my classes who struggled with distance accuracy until they practiced the process mentioned above. Give it a try.

I have two of these in the standard frame and their big brother, the Glock 21. They are without question my three favorite Glocks in my arsenal. Thanks for sharing.
I discovered your channel on a recent research project on the M&P Shield - I enjoyed that video as this one. You have a nice approach to the reviews and display very good technique on drawing and grouping. Thank you for the video.
Lucky you. This gun belongs to a good friend. I wish I could keep it. Thank you for watching!

you still liking the g30sf? Is it still your favorite?
Thanks for the video, I was at my LGS today asking about a VP9 and the sales rep asked me ,"Why Not A Glock?" I told him I just never liked the feel of Glocks and have no issue with the firearm itself. He offered to let me take a look at his customized Glock 30 since I am a fan of the 45 ACP and was only looking to broaden my 9mm collection. I am still leaning towards the VP9, since I already own a P30 with 8 magazines, but I figured it was worth a peek at something completely different. Keep in mind this will be my first striker fired pistol so it's a good idea to get it right the first time. Thanks Again for the videos!

I love my Glock 30 & 21. 30 is a perfect carry piece imho and does have great capacity.. Great Video and info keep em coming
I've carred a 30S for 3 years IWB CrossBreed holster. No FFE or reliability issues. None. Compact length, Slim Slide and 10 round capacity - that's why LAPD special units and many other LE's order them so often that Glock made it a catalog item. I rented a Glock 36 from RangeUSA for one hour and had several FFE issues during a 100 round session.
Picked up a 30sf recently and it is a sweet shooter. The G36 will remain my #1 CCW, with a P380 BUG but I'm going to work the G30sf into the rotation when I wear a jacket or another shirt to cover. Great video.
I love the energy!
Rick thanks for the feedback. Many people have no issue with the extended slip stop. However, some people like me do because of the size of our hands and the position of the thumbs on the slide. If this is a non-issue for you, then excellent... many people prefer this type of slide stop. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Thanks for the great review brother!!! I bought a G 30 and I love it!! It is just as accurate as my G 21, if not more so!!!!
This is my EDC concealed weapon. Good review.
Sweet little pistol. I've been looking to buy one but am still undecided. Good demo it helps decide. Thanks.

thank you. I enjoyed your shooting of the g 30. it shows how the average joe on the street can perform with the g 30. there is hope for me yet.
Good video and an excellent overview of the G30. I am considering one as a baby brother/carry piece to go with my G21. Stay safe out there. Scott
I assumed as much, but you know how it is I overheard some good ol' boy at my LGS saying they would fit, but after handling it and comparing it to my 19 Gen 4, I didn't think so. Thank you for your response.
Nice.... I love mine. It is my everyday carry in a 'MIC' holster. Its always good to see posts from fellow granite staters.
the trees must get very heavy in new hampshire great vid brother. have a g30 myself, and it's always been one of my favorites
I had a guy in Orlando hold me up he was pointing a gun at my chest from less than 5 yards away. this was a real hold-up! a car pulled up and he took off, lucky for me:) . I like the Glock 30 because jt shoots like a 9 mm. hardly any recoil and its a 45 thats why it so popular.... I love the sig sauer p220 too... will never Jam! thanks for the review I need to practice more:)

I own a g30. If any of you are worried that the grip is too small. The g21 13 round mag fits the g30 and you can also buy a grip extension for the 13 round mag. It's a great set up.
I absolutely love this gun.
Had 2 of these, one 3 and one gen 4. ended up selling them both but still have 3 15 rounders left. Now i have a mod 2 in .45 and love it more

My EDC' is a Glock 30 SF carried in a Mitch Rosen PREM. FD holster for the Glock 30/29, I just love this combo.....Good video..........
Love your videos, they have helped me in a few of my purchases, (such as the Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm). I have the Glock 36, but have considered picking up the 30 so that I can use the same Mags with my 21. How does the 30 compare with the 36? Thank you for your videos!
Just added a new Glock to the family. A good looking OD green G19. Fits in well with the G17, G21SF, G23 and G26.
I wish it were a new addition to the gun safe. However it belongs to a good friend of mine. Unfortunately I have to give it back. Thanks for watching.

Many of my students start with a small compact handgun rather than a full-size service pistol. It is far easier to learn the fundamentals on the full-size gun and then migrate to a smaller compact version. Please check out some of the other reviews I done on both full-sized service pistols and compacts... That may help.
I've owned the Glock 30sf for 2 years now. The only change I did and would totally recommend is adding the Pearce PG-30 grip base for it. Makes it very very comfortable. Beefy gun, but soft shooting for a compact.
Excellent presentation, better than a table top review.

great video, i just picked up a glock 30 for my EDC...
1 thing I learned when handling my Glocks is if you want to avoid depressing the slide release button all you have to do is pull the slide back then release.
Thanks for the video. Currently have a G26 and I'm looking for a 2nd home defense/occasional carry firearm. Down in MA, we are limited to the 10 rd mags. I'm torn between the g17 and the g30. Without that high capacity benefit of the 9mm it doesn't seem to appeal to me as much. However, I work over nights and this 2nd home defense weapon would be available to my wife... I would be concerned about her ability to handle that recoil and make effective hits. Not sure if it's a valid concern or if I'm underestimating her. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I find the G19 9mm flip to be hard to handle. I have no problems with the G30 45acp. 45 is a slower round and pushes into your hand more than flips. The G30 is quicker for me to come back to target. A lot of folks agree with me.
Thank you for the video.. the G-30 is my EDC ...for reliability, bullet capacity and size the G-30 can't be beat I carry a G-21 magazine for a backup..
I have a G 30 love it. The thing I like is that the recoil is very manageable for a sub compact ....... 45...

Mine did not. However the Gcode holster seems to work great.
No trees were harmed in the making of this video.
The G30 is a great gun but chunky and feels like a brick in the hand. A G26 or G27 is a little thinner and more comfortable to shoot. But if you still want a compact 45ACP take a look at the thinner G36. It may carry a few less rounds but the thinner profile may fit your hand better. Personally, I wish that my G30 was a G36.
@2:07 were you doing some reverse "mozambique drill" or it just happened? However, it looked cool...
Nice shooting tex! What kind or anatomical targets are those?
nice shooting location ! is that glock a new addition to your arsenal? i've shot one of those before...very nice
Currently carry a glock 19 and thinking of purchasing the glock 30s, recently had the xds 45 and sold what are thoughts on the recoil vs xds cause I was shocked by manageable recoil in the xds 45, if you have experience with xds 45, I am new to channel, thank you for your time
@Guns and Gear & On Target Training, LLC: Let me start by saying I watch and appreciate your videos so much I enjoy your opinions. With that said, I was wondering what you thought about a dilemma I’m having. I have been on the Glock platform for the last year and use Glock 22 for Home Defense and both Glock 23 and 27 for my conceal and carry. I’m trying to justify, to myself, a reason and use to purchase the G21 and G30. Is it common to carry different calibers at different times?

Thanks for your kind words and for watching the channel. I carry and own different Glock models mostly because I can. The Glock 21 and Glock 30 would be a great addition to your collection! The Glock 21 with a TLR2 is my bedside go to gun... Check out these older vids... The Glock 21 (and G30) in 45 ACP and Glock 21 .45 ACP with TLR2 streamlight - review
Eric, very difficult question to answer. I have to say it all depends. The upside of the 45 is it's a big heavy round that is known to be very effective from a defensive standpoint. The downside is the G30 is not a full-sized handgun. Full-sized handguns like the Glock 21 or G17 are easier to shoot and learn fundamentals on. Finally with ammunition costs what they are 9 mm is far more affordable to shoot. So u r more likely to practice. See my video on selecting your first handgun. May help
cant wait to pick up my glock 30sf! live in Ca, we have to wait ten days before we can take it home... even though a few years ago federal court ruled the waiting period unconstitutional....

Have you had an opportunity to shoot the Glock 30S yet? Just wondered what your thought were on it.
Read what you said makes absolute sense..... the 1 inch rule consistent step back and keep them( tight-ish ) again makes sense thank you too Sir.
Hey there, so looking for my first gun that would be used as a home self defense and maybe turn into a concealed carry someday. I've shot a 9mm baretta and thought the recoil was a bit much for me just because im not used to shooting much. The area that i live in is the more urban side of Phoenix (Arizona) which is known for people on drugs and generally not being safe. My biggest concern is getting something strong enough to stop someone from attacking me that is on some sort of potent drug (ive heard that cops used to use 380s but ended up not being strong enough for that reason) ive been looking at the glock 17 and was pretty set on it, but stumbled upon a glock 30 for almost the same price. Do you reccomend getting the bigger caliber or should i just stick with the 9mm i had originally seen?
@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC

Really depends on what you're looking for. Both would work. I personally would choose a G19, as it's concealable but easier to learn to shoot accurate (and ammo cost less). That being said, I also love the G30. Bottom line take some classes and practice with any handgun you purchase.
I really like that Glock 30! I've never owned a Glock. I'm very curious.

To the maker of this video or anybody else, how does the glock 30 compare to the glock 30 slim or gen 4?, as I am assuming this is gen 3... Also this was a nice video, great shooting
I have the Glock 30 Gen 4. I love the gun. The only problem i had was i had to add an exstended slide release. It's tuff to release the slide with out one. Other then that it's my CCW. I own nothing but Glock. I have a Glock 19 Gen 4 love the gun. A Glock 22 Gen 4 another great gun. I have a Glock 23 Gen 4. awesome CCW.
Thank you so much man !!
It's the 30s that would fit into the 19 or 23 holster... It will fit most. As long as there is some leather, usually if its a full kydex it won't
did you get the SF model? the reach to the trigger is slightly less.
does it come with the exstended release stock if so can one get a short release
Nice review. I'm actually trading my Taurus 1911 for one of these tomorrow.
Why are you shooting at a Tree? Do you have a steel plate or something behind the target to protect it? I am fan of your channel and I would very much appreciate if you would use a portable stand and not a tree to put your targets on, thank you...

Thanks for your input. Good feedback The tree I was using had been been struck my lightening, three weeks before so was essentially dead but with enough mass and pitch in the tree to stop any handgun rounds. In addition I made sure the angle of the shots fired placed or any misses of would go into a area that is a back stop Behind that there is about 10 acres of land and a hill. Never the less, I agree with you need to know your target and what is beyond it.

Both the G30 and G21 are great perfomers. My personal favorite is the G21 with 13 rounds of Winchester Ranger T 230+p ammo and the TLR2 flashlight / laser attached. Thanks for watching and commenting
Recoil is subjective. I like both the G30 and the one XDS in 45 I shot. there are reviews on both guns on the channel. The question is why do you want a .45 vs the Glock 19? If you can shoot the G30 better and faster, then it's a great choice! Remember... confidence, shot placement and speed of hits on target count most. So IMO there is no "perfect" gun. Whatever works for you and allows good hits. Both the G30 and G19 would serve you well.
Obviously with that nice group you shot its working well for you. I did not mean for my comment to sound that way. Great shooting.

I recently acquired a Glock 30 Gen 3 without rail and I am very pleased with it. I find it to be an excellent shooter and the recoil is very manageable. My only gripe; however, it that it lacks a rail for a light attachment. While I don't have to have one, I would prefer to be able to attach a light since it is my primary home defense weapon. Do you know of any lights that are available that can be attached without a rail?

@@GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC Thanks! I always felt like a Glock absorbed a lot of it and the lower bore axis helped as well. Only shot the G21 & 1911 so far, and even though the 1911 was heavier the G21 felt softer shooting, to me. Also with a revolver I feel like the recoil is completely different since there isn’t any locked breech or similar system to soften up the impulse. It’s basically just weight soaking up the recoil.
