I really wish S&W would bring us an updated Shield and Shield PC plus in .40 with higher capacity. .40 rocks and for me preferable to the 9mm.

Been screaming this since the plus came out. It took me 5 years to find a used M&P 2.0 40SW sc ( 10 rnd pinky mags) only came with 1 mag.

.40 S&W is the result of duplicating 10mm Auto FBI load performance in a 9mm size frame. Most people who talk down on .40 don't own or shoot one and haven't looked into the amount of effort put into honing the .40 S&W into an incredibly balanced round made to be the best possible fighting and defense cartridge in frame most hands can hold. Full power non +P .40 S&W is potent and can achieve almost 600 foot pounds of energy depending on the loading. I find a 150 to 165 grain bullet to be a good medium for penetration and energy. Winchester ranger T 165 grain .40 S&W is a good example of the full power .40 S&W available.

@@joshbonds3599 I really enjoy 180 federal hst.
You nailed it on the conversion aspect of these pistols. I carry a glock 23 and j-frame and dont believe in "carry rotations" and stick to these. For fun and recreation ive got that Shield 40 performace center. When I want to shoot something different i will bring it along to shoot and its my recreation trail pistol when going lightweight hiking and biking. The little Shield 40 fills my recreeation roles well as its small and light. It could be my primary carry pistol but im just used to the glock 23 and its habit
That pinky grip makes the pistol taper than a compact model. You could use an SLR Rifleworks extension to add four rounds while also being shorter than that pinky extension. The +4 uses the stock spring because the subcompact spring is the same one that is in the 27. They are sold as +5 extensions for the 26, but they work for the 27.
I have the edge grips on my G27 too. Actually discovered them over the talons from your channel man. Only difference between my G27 and yours, is I have the truglo night sights on mine

Based on your videos, I went to a newly opened firearm shop in the area and made my final decision to get a Shield Plus. Employees were awesome and ended up finding me a slightly used Shield Plus with Night Sights, Optic Ready, and came with a Tier 1 Concealed Xiphos Elite holster and walked out the door paying $360. Only thing it didn’t come with was the original cardboard box so they threw in an extra magazine. The condition is like new and has zero wear marks that I can find.
Honestly the conversion are enough to make someone buy a .40

Outstanding video! Great analysis. I've been researching and testing these guns extensively for weeks, months even. I'm a range attendant at a gun store and these 3 have been my focus for a long minute. My conclusion is that you couldn't go wrong with any of these. Trust , reliability, and capacity of the Glock vs. trust, reliability, and thinness of the shield. Personal preference or needs I suppose. The recoil of the Glock is remarkably less, the shield recoil is downright violent lol, yet manageable and more important, masterable. Fantastic review bro!!! Top notch
I get why people like the Gen 4's and Gen 5's... but I just prefer the Gen 3's, except with the G42 and G43. I think they're Gen 3.5 or something like that, but I don't recall. They have the Double Recoil Spring and the new style slide stop (but not ambi). It really amazes me that .40SW isn't a more popular round. It really is an excellent self defense round and I think it's the best replacement for .45acp, because .45acp is getting antiquated. It's just larger than it needs to be, especially for the amount of power it has... it limits capacity by a fair amount and it almost always requires a larger gun/frame.
I been putting those Handle-It grips on a lot of my pistols. Especially my Glocks, I like it more than Talon and I do however have a few Hogue grips on a few others.
Can you do a video going over the .357 sig and 9mm conversion for the shield in .40? In terms of specific parts and mags needed, what drops in and what doesn't. It would be really helpful to know how to put together a multi caliber gun. Thanks :)

If it's 40 just change the barrel to 357 and boom. For 9mm you'll also need an extractor but that's it.
I love the Smith & Wesson guns.. BUT.. I really do prefer the Tactical/ Scissor style triggers. They seem to have a cleaner more predictable trigger break that helps me w/ accuracy..
I rotate my carry between the glock 27, glock 33 and the S&W Performance Center in 45acp. What's 9mm 🤷🏾♂️😂😂😂
Looking to get either the taurus G3C in 40 or the stoeger STR40. leaning towards the taurus, It comes with 3 mags compared to the stoeger, which is only one Mag. for base model.

Dude tbh, go with the Taurus, it really does get shit on unnecessarily. They run like butter especially after 100 or so rounds. I’ve had 2 failures to eject on mine out of maybe 10000 rounds, maybe less but not by much
Interesting comparison 🤔 mayve one day, ill get into the higher calibers. Sometimes i feel like i still got alot of learn from 9mm

Thank you. And keep training. You’ll be where you want to be! Respect
Just bought my first baby Glock , the Glock 27. It offers some great assurance while holding it in my hand. And the ability to adapt to larger size magazines certainly helps. I bought this as a police trade in Also own P365, Shield plus, and a 642 with laser grip as carry guns.
The 40 is not dead❗️i own a g2c 40, and it's not my nicest gun, but it finds it way in my rotation because of the 40 cal round, love the power
I rock a gen 1 .40 Shield with magguts and a hogue grip for an off body carry everyday.
Thanks for the presentation. Personally, I prefer the G27 over the M&P 40. The slim grip and the poor first gen trigger in the Shield were really the pistol's downside for me. Even though the Gen 3 Glock has finger grooves, and a wide and stubby grip, I have no problems shooting it accurately--even with the flush mag. It just fills my hand up much better than the Smith. (I have the same issue with the SIG P365 as well...but at least it has a better trigger!)
40 Shield is really the only decent Derringer I've owned. Just 6 rounds, a wee beastie. Unlike real Derringers it's safe, has a decent length barrel, and actual sights. I call it a Derringer because it's hard to get a great grip and has a real kick. Must be carried chambered due to stiff spring.
Can the 2.0 hold larger /higher round count OEM mags ?
I remember you mentioning HandleIt Edge a while back, do you prefer those or the Talon Pro texture?

Hey SPN, I have a very special request to ask of you. Can you do a video of all the holsters you use for the Walther pps m2? Especially for sweatpants/jogger style pants? That I could really benefit from the knowledge of! ❤️🤍💙

The advantage of 40 is you can blindly grab a box of 40 and pretty much be assured of a solid weight of bullet (165-180) and solid ft-lbs of energy (350). With 9mm the FBI decided 147grain is best, that's more rare than common 115/124, and you need to get either NATO spec with over penetration risks (no hollow points are NATO spec or a defensive proven hollow point which is a $1.60 per round. Can't beat 9mm for cheap plinkimg thought, 115 grain round or flat nose is the .22LR of the centerfire world.
👍
What .40 ammo do you like?
