Glock 26 - 9mm Carry Perfection

Taking a look at the Glock 26 "Baby Glock", in my humble opinion one of the greatest concealed carry handguns ever made.
I wake up every morning and try not to be a Glock fanboy, but I tend to fail.
If you get anything out of my videos, I'd appreciate your thumbs up and your subscription.

@@OutSkirtz Idk. You have to put a foreign magazine and magazine release in the G43X to get the 15 round capacity which negates the battle proven reliability of the Glock. Plus you can’t put your 33 round mags in it like you can with the G26

A couple of years ago I usually had a 19 on me. I have 2 of them and considered them all I needed. I had a 26 but just didn't like the grip length. I used a +2 Glock extension. I saw a KZread video about Xgrip extensions so I got one. WOW!!! This changes everything!!!! Now the 26 is my favorite. It feels so good in my hand. Shoots really good and it's lighter than a 19. My 26 is my EDC now.

I did the same and shoot better with my 26 than my Glock 19. Sure I upgraded sights and a few control upgrades. I bought used. It has a Glockstore Titanium striker installed. They run about 75.00 back then. I would have not done it on my own, but I like it. The seller included the origional -stock striker. It looks like an old nail compared to a shiny striker pin. In addition I bought a Sig 365. I live the thin profile. I like it a bit more than the 26-I am thin and print easy. Take care. If you are considering an additional carry-the Sig 365 -The origional one may be one to check out. It sounds like we have similar results with smaller pistols-Good luck.

I’ve since sold my g19 gen 4 and bought the g34 MOS installed a stream light TLR-1 HL 1000 lumen rail light in it along with Ameriglo Spartan night sights , this is a fantastic gun and fun to shoot and is my bed side gun . The 26 & 34 are a great spread apart and I liked this idea so much I did the same in 10mm I bought the g29 and the g40 MOS and installed a Holosun red dot optic , now I’m content with my glocks 😁

That said, not giving up my 26 for anyone. Cannot beat the overall versatility, as I've got a pinky-extended 10 rounder, plus 12, 15, 17, 19 round magazines (with spacers).....all of which serve the all-around purpose for EDC or home defense. G26 EDC since 2001 except for a few mandated breaks due to work and a short love affair with the 43, the G26 has been on my hip or in a shoulder rig weather permitting. Great advice for having spare parts on hand because ALL things mechanical will eventually fail. The beauty of the Glock is that you can usually fix them within minutes if you have the parts on hand. Also the magazine interchangability (is that a word?) is awesome. I carry G19/17/18 mags as spares. Lastly, I've fired thousands (30K) rounds most of which were Speer GDHP 124+P. Now retired I have been shooting a lot of 124 FMJ. As you stated, the G26 is not for show or bling, it's a hard working ultra reliable handgun. Thanks for your great review!

Something else I don’t hear much, but I liked the 26 (or shorter barrels in general) due to the reduced muzzle bounce. Maybe there is a trade off for a little more recoil (negligible) but I always felt my 26 was back on target with less bounce than any other gun. Trigger cuts make a world of difference on the 26 as well.

It's the best combination of size, weight and round count. The only two things I need that you don't have here is the +2 extended grip, it adds nothing (almost) to printing but makes it way easier to draw, just more reliable to grab out of my waist, also, and this is a biggie, switch the ammo to Underwood 65 grain Extreme Defense rounds for more energy, 1,700 fps and less recoil for follow up shots, truly barrier blind because no hollow point to clog , less weight to carry, it's superior ammo all around, also leaves a bigger damage track and won't over penetrate but will go as deep as recommended, in gel test of about 18 inches, it's the most predictable, devastating, ammo you can carry and that's good. With 12+1 in the G26 and a back up 33 magazine, yes, it fits a jeans front pocket, you have things covered better than 9 out of 10 others with guns. Big guns suck in gunfights, little ones are quicker to get on target(s), in a game where being first is everything.

  • @InGratitudeIam
    @InGratitudeIam5 жыл бұрын

Thanks for the review. Well done! I'm looking at taking one of my G19s and shortening the grip to a G26 length. The longer sight radius with the shorter frame and light rail are pretty compelling. This is analogous to the Colt CCO - Officer's frame with a Commander slide. You should try shooting your G26 without worrying about your little finger being on the grip. Then compare those groups to the groups you get with your little finger on the grip. Not having the little finger on the grip eliminates the tendency of "milking" the grip as a reaction to recoil. Eliminating this reaction tends to make for more accurate shots and tighter groups. Thanks for taking the time.

I have a gen 4 G26 (among several Glock models). The 26 is undeniably a great carry option but when it comes to subcompacts, I find myself preferring the CZ P10s, Springfield Hellcat and the Sig P365xl. Yes I have all of those and then some (a few are technically "my wifes"). But if I could only choose one pistol to carry and that was it - I would most definitely choose the CZ P10c with the G19 gen 5 close behind. That's just my personal opinion and there ALOT of great compact(ish) size pistols out there these days. The Steyr M9 and MP 2.0 4" are also great choices but not quite on the level of the CZ and Glock(19). My Canik Tp9 elite is also a beast, but again not quite what the CZ (and then G19) is. I know that nobody gives a shit but I'll drop this experience based info on you anyway - judging by the experiences I have had with just about every popular modern handgun out there (both personal and some rentals), the CZ P10c is the best polymer framed striker driven gun i have ever shot, followed closely by the G19 and Steyr M9. The next tier would include the MP 2.0 (the original 1.0 model was just not that good), Sig P320 and 365, Canik Tp9 series and most definitely the XD mod2 series and the FN 509. After that there is a whole mess of pistols that are good-not-great but will get the job done, this included the surprisingly good Taurus G series (I love the G3).

I bought a Glock 26 Gen 5 with the "Ameriglo Night Sights Option" From Glock..... By Far it's the Best EDC Pistol because you can use a high capacity magazine as a backup mag.

_Today the contest between which ammo choice is better is over_ From: Active Armed Self Protection *Their DATA* CCW Calibers used in America: - 70% of the U.S. use 9mm - 10% use .40 S&W - 9% use 45 ACP - 11% use *"other"* caliber Notes: - The 11% *"other"* calibers include the .22LR, .25, .32, 380, .357 mag., .44 mag., 10mm, 5,7x28mm, etc. - The Worlds usage of 9mm is probably even higher than above U.S. figures. *Informed (opinion) conclusion:* 1. Mouse gun & large gun calibers are not recommended for self-defense. 2. Best caliber(s) to use for CCW is the *9mm.* World police & World military agree with this as most folks use the 9mm including US police & military. *Note:* these figures are from an Active Self Protection video (Nov. 27, 2017): Biggest Takeaways of My Survey of 6,000 + Firearms Carriers | Active Self Protection Extra kzread.info/dash/bejne/hI5k2Jmzn7nghpM.html *The 2019 & 2020 top U.S. soft shooting CCW firearms* (through sells only) - in no order: The S&W M&P Shield The Glock 43/43X The SIG P365 _So it is more _*_in 2020_*_ which 9mm Parabellum/9x19 firearm is the better _"sub-compact'_ After owning three (3) G26s, one G42 (.380ACP), one G43 and one G43X, I can say the performance (reliability, manual of arms, accuracy) is the same but... - the Glock 26 is easier to hold - logically more surface area to be in contact with. - the Glock 26 is easier to shoot faster - logically heavier pistol so it is more stable. - the Glock 43/43Xs advantage of being lighter in weight makes for all day carry comfort. - the Glock 43/43X being smaller is much easier to conceal. - the role of a concealed carry pistol (a true sub-compact) is fulfilled in the G43/43X much much, more than the G26s outdated design. *_Of note:_* Last month I took a _CCW/CHP class_ to get a concealed carry license in my new state. In my class saw for concealed carry, - nine (9) folks with 9mms, - one (1) small .45 ACP and, - one (1) .380 ACP - one (1) unknown caliber/I did not see it closely _No one was using .40 S&W anymore (at least for concealed carry)._ users out of 12 people - the limit due to COVID-19. Remember in life and handguns everything is a *compromise.* God bless. *EDIT* - _Don't forget Father's Day 21st of June 2020._

Question If you had to use the grip extension for the 26, would it be better to just go with the 19? I can’t hold a 26 comfortably without an extension.

If you don’t mind the bigger grip while concealing it, get the 19 bro. It’s basically identical, but the 19 obviously has the longer barrel and bigger grip. Which will make it a little bit more accurate. That is literally the only difference. Personally I have a 26, gen4, I have MASSIVE hands and have no problems with it 🙌🔥 and they’re both double stack magazines so you can go 10rd, all the way to 100rd drum magazines as long as they’re 9mm.

I'm thinking about getting a glock 26, how bad is the trigger guard against the middle finger if you don't make that groove with the dremel?

  • @matthewtobeck3409

Juno Wilson I have a 26, and I don't think it's bad. That being said, this is a concealed carry gun, so it's not going to be super comfortable shooting like a full size or possibly a compact might be...this being a subcompact. Never seen anyone dremel the trigger guard like that, but to each his own. The negatives of this gun are your pinky is going to hang off, it's thicker than a lot of concealed carry guns nowadays, and it's also heavier than many concealed guns are today. However, with a shorter grip, you also will print less depending on your holster. For me, even with my pinky hanging off, because in part it's a little thicker grip, I can actually get a really solid comfortable grip on it when using a combat grip, despite my pinky hanging off. Feels a little awkward at first but I took to it pretty quickly. Also, even though it's a little heavier, that makes it more evenly weighted and a more stable shooter then many concealed carry guns. Overall, it's nice little gun, and reliability is second to none. One other thing to note is this gun is a lot more versatile than many other guns considering it does take the Glock 17 and Glock 19 mags as well, which means a 17 or 15 round capacity respectively, plus one in the chamber. So you can always just carry one of those magazines as a backup mag and still keep it super concealable with the stock flush magazine. That's pretty nice. You can never make a gun smaller, but this gun you can always make bigger, if you want. Big advantage there. The only other gun I might look at right now if you're looking for concealed carry is a SIG P 365, but a Glock 26 should be right at the top of anyone's list for concealed carry. Glock has proven reliability and that's the number one thing you need for any gun, especially conceal carrying.

I agree with your statement and heres why: I had both the G21, G30, *G17 (two of them),* G23, G36, *G26 (three of them),* G43, & G42. Plus many, many other makers handguns Sold them all over the years & now I will buy just one gun after the upcoming 2019 Shot Show. If there are no new revolutionary small pistols coming out I will get the best CCW pistol (from my experience): the *Glock 43* in the best CCW caliber (9mm). So why is the Glock 43 the best CCW pistol? - After shooting the G43 I find it very accurate. - It's small and yet fits my XXL hands fine. - The G43 is really a slim-line G26. I always thought the G26 was just too thick for carry. - It is a Glock = well known reliability & great customer service for life. - The G43 is a gun that can/should be left in stock configuration as only night sights are needed for 24/7 CCW (Stock guns are better for reliability & court). Stay frosty.

Nothing beats diminished round capacity and magazine incompatibility across platforms. But if that's what works for you... There are those rare instances when my G26 is obvious with my clothing selection, That's when the G43 gets used. Otherwise, it's my G19 with the G26 as a "NY Reload" along with a spare G17 mag, or the just the G26. The fact that G17 mags can be used with either the G19 or G26 is a tremendous advantage. Even in states with capacity restrictions, a 10 round G17 mag makes reloads quicker and easier due to the added length.

@@InGratitudeIam Interesting, by your sarcasm you seem to think: 5 or 6 rounds in a CCW pistol is "diminished round capacity"?? Also, you guess that I and other people own more than one hand gun. Plus, you think my and other gun owner's other handguns are the same type or platform. That is a whole lot of assuming going on in your mind *In Gratitude I Am.* Just curious by your wisdom & knowledge of self-defense guns, answer these questions: Question one How many bad guys/gals have you shot? Question two In using your Glock 26 (10 round magazine) how often have you shot people and either *run out of bullets or almost ran out?* Quest three How many bad guys/gals do you think you will shoot in the future if you are situational aware? Question four Which is better: A. pepper spray, B. a high capacity gun, C. avoidance, D. run-fu? Thanks for your high I.Q. & experience in the future answers.
