Glock 19 vs Glock 26

Ойын-сауық

Long story short, go with whichever one you were secretly hoping I'd say at the end to validate your idea. If you are truly torn between the two, get the Glock 19 first, and if you don't like it, sell it and buy a Glock 26.

Not correct. *Augustus Heyliger,* Bro you are over thinking this. Correction to you statement: _"You can make the 26 bigger...."_ Yes, that bigger G26 is called the *Glock 19.* _"but can't make the 19 smaller..."_ Yes, we can make the G19 smaller. It is called the *Glock 26.* EVEN BETTER to the Glock 26 is the Glock 43/43X. The Glock 26 is now outdated.

The "subcompact" Glock 26 is outdated as it is just a fat cut ✂️ down Glock 19. The true 👍 subcompact Glock the Glock 42, Glock 43 and Glock 43X, are the updated 👌 modern Glocks. They both conceal well for me @215Lbs. My accuracy is very good with both except at 50 feet or greater the G19 wins out, sight radius does matter. As with any gun, range time and how you use it matters. I most always use the 3 rds. in under 3 sec. rule as the clock is my stress factor.

To me, that's the tipping point towards the 19. Both conceal well, I'm 5' 9" 220, athletic shape and I have zero problem with concealing either. I'd say go with the 19 first unless your a smaller person. Ymmv.

*Long Comment Warning* Here goes: I'm 6'2" 235ish and I've been carrying a 26 for 4-5 years. I always carry with a 12 round in it and 17-21 round backup. I've used it in several training classes and I've never felt like the gun put me at a disadvantage. I bought a 26 because my 17 is not very concealable/comfortable. The longer slide was terrible for everything other than standing straight, and the long magazine was difficult to conceal. I went fully the opposite direction and got the shortest of both (G26). The funny thing is now I carry the 26 in a 19 holster because the extra length puts a little leverage on the bottom of the holster which keeps the top of the gun from flopping away from my belly. The 12 round mags still hide better than a 15 round in the 26. I guess I could try a 19, but they aren't cheap and the I have no problems using the 26.

Our shapes are similar. I've learned to wear my buckle off to the left a bit to offset any bulge from the firearm. It has worked well. With your belt buckle bulging out slightly in the center, it brings your attention to the fact that there is something else hidden under your shirt. The G45/ 19x have the same grip handle length as the G17 but the barrel length of the G19, from what I have seen from other people's opinions, the handle length is what affects concealability the most, not barrel length (I wouldn't know cause I don't carry guns inside my pants like appendix carry) So with the G45 you're losing barrel length, and the same grip length as the G17, so I believe it would be better to just get a G17, if you care about ballistics that is For instance I carry the G19 mad my brother carries the G17, if you compare both the size difference is not as big as people think, I could carry the G17 if I had to without a problem

The G26 shoots better than its size would suggest. I wish Glock would make a G26C. If Glock wanted to make all the inter web commando heads explode, they would adapt the 26 slide to the 19 frame, provide the MOS system and compensated. Then add a Streamlight tlr-6 and a magwell and you've created yourself the inter web head exploding roland special. Boom.

A 9mm conceal carry pistol needs to be small and have decent round capacity. The G-26 meets those requirements and is accurate, easily handled and reliable. I carry mine with Pearce mag pinky extensions, as I don't want or need the +2 extension. I load Federal HST 124 gr +P JHP's which are an excellent round for the G-26, and I prefer a 2 o'clock, IWB carry. I don't see the point in carrying a larger G-19 for conceal SD carry; you don't need the extra rounds, added weight/size, and the G-26 is very accurate and handles easily, so why make SD carry more of a hassle ? I also carry a G-29 - 10mm, which is a tad longer and thicker, but conceals very well.

Just to be clear - are you carrying BOTH guns simultaneously - one as backup or are you alternating?

I've seen, and witnessed personally, the G26 jam a lot. Not knocking it at all but my wife's has jammed and FTE. TICKS me off because she wanted it and loves it, it's her CC, and I don't know what's causing it to FTF or FTE. Brass ammo too. FMJ and HP. Help. Thanks Thanks for the upload, and I know it's old but I just saw it. So, thanks

Honestly, for concealed carry the G26 is a better gun. With the factory set up, the G26 needs in my opinion an extension for me to get a full grip. Now I dont have gigantic hands but I dont have small hands either and I cant get a full grip without it. I happen to feel the G26 is better than the G43 for the same task as well if only because of the extra capacity. Now, the G19 isnt exactly a hard gun to conceal in my opinion but it's not a "compact" gun either. It's a full sized gun and frankly, the G17 isnt much bigger to carry and I think I'd rather have the G17 myself. Ultimately I feel it comes down to comfort. Be that comfort in your hand, comfort when firing, comfort in capacity limits, or comfort in holsters. I feel a good quality holster for either will carry equally as well so that to me is a bit of a moot point. I think I'd go with the G19 just because I prefer larger guns and having fired some smaller sub compact guns I typically dont find them to be very comfortable and lack of comfort equates to less time training with the gun which ultimately equates to you having less experience with your chosen weapon and that for me is a no go. If I'm going to go small, I tend to go with a smaller caliber like a .32 or .380 in a semi auto. I do have a Glock 39 with a +2 extension for 8 shots of .45 GAP, which at it's worst is equal to .45 ACP but with proper loads in the 185gr range it operates closer to .45 ACP +P in terms of ballistics. It is a bit snappy but it gets excellent expansion and penetration. And when compared to .40 S&W I find it's a bit more comfortable to shoot while offering similar ballistics if not superior in a short barrel. But the G19 is a good sized gun, 15 rounds is plenty, and it can be concealed relatively easy.

I have always heard the rumor that the 26 is the most “accurate” of them all. Not sure why when the 19 and 26 use the same locking block. It’s literally just a shorter barrel and slide.

  • @jefferybrown8062

    @jefferybrown8062

Keith Gemmill people tend to shoot the 26 better because the hump on the grip hits your palm in the perfect area to get a tighter grip. On the 19 the hump is much lower and doesn’t provide the same feel. Well that’s what I’ve noticed at the range.

@@OreGear I drove 10hours to Oregon for Fighting Pistol. Woke up late at hotel, was going 100mph in a rental and I pull up to meet up spot off road next to a minivan and 2 dudes who say where's the fire. I get a better look and realize it's friggin Hoss & James Yeager(both super cool guys). It's like they were waiting for me the last late dumbbell. I wouldve never found range as it was 30 min drive up the woods. The Second day I got mixed up and couldn't find range and I was driving in mud in a sedan all over mountains, bout to set a tire fire signal for rescue when I see guy hiking trail, it was Friggin Ben mookie who jumps in car. James was cool that I was late, but I felt bad that I missed part of 2nd day lecture.

I work out so I am in pretty good shape, I have flat stomach and abs, and I don't like appendix carry, cause it gets in the way of moving around, and sitting down If in your state it's illegal to open carry, then you might want to use appendix carry, thankfully down here in TX you can open carry, and nobody cares about the greyman thing either, everyone specially in my area carries a gun, it's the norm. I carry mine at 3🕒 or 4🕓, cause it's the most unobtrusive and comfortable way I found to carry on my person (my daily carry is a G19), but I usually carry it in my bag

Making a lot of excuses for the 26 haha. You should consider changing the title to Custom 19 vs Custom 26. The sights and the longer barrel on the 19 gives it an unfair advantage.

I tried a 26 recently, and the recoil/muzzle rise is much less than that of the 43x and is almost as a small as what I had with the 45. I used the Recoilmeter program on the MantisX to measure it. By personal feel, the 26 is really close to the 45, while the 43x is noticeably snapper. The 26 is truly a marvel for being a two-finger grip pistol.
