I gotta say as an owner of a real steel Glock 17, this is pretty realistic to the actual function of a real firearm. Was never an airsoft person but I might get into it after seeing this video

@@TheAcolyte01 I train with 22LR. You might consider the G44. I have a G17, but my EDC is a SIG P365. My training pistol is a Ruger SR22. You can get 22LR as low as .15/rnd. It's more fun to train with than greengas or co2. It also seems more simple, just get ammo and a gun. No finicking with gas and all the stuff that goes along with airsoft or BB. I also like going to the range. At some point I may get a BB blowback just to take shots while I watch TV. Most ranges will have the G44+ammo and will rent it out to try.

I have to say, I wasn't expecting too much as I've never had an airsoft gun, but Andy's reviews helped guide me to this gen 4. Having a 9mm gen 5, the weight and feel of this Umarex airgun is awesome, it actually feels heavier than the real thing! It's a little more balanced in the grip area due to the metal mag, but the perception of quality is awesome. The metal mag is genuinely nicer than the actual plastic Glock mags. The full blowback and features make it an awesome practice tool for when I can't go to a range or a rural backyard. I'm thoroughly impressed by the job Umarex did!

Andy, you are a great salesman. I kept watching videos on this one CO2 pistol and bought it. What I find so refreshing in your videos is you know what you are showing us. Like you went through it's manual. Why would I say that you may ask? I watched another "Reviewer" on this very same gun and he hadn't a clue how to remove that small cover at the bottom of the handle for inserting a CO2 cartridge. I sat here having a grand ole time as he went about his way of removing it. He did say the Manual was excellent so I wondered to myself why didn't he...READ IT FIRST before making fool of himself online. Getting back to you are your great videos, I enjoy them and will be waiting for any new videos from AAR On Air !!!

I love Umarex, but it'd be nice if they could roll all the good bits into one Glock instead of having various models that do certain things better than others. I'll still be picking up the Gen 4 though, as I'm a big fan of realistic looking and working pistols. Thanks for the great review as usual

Thank you for making this video. I have real G22 Gen 4 with a 9mm barrel and needed a BB for home practice. I thought this was one I needed, but the magazine not dropping freely was a stopper for me. I went with a Umarex Glock 17 Gen 3. It was cheaper and felt close enough. I did notice the tinny sound, but was worth it for cheaper price and mags. I got mine because the G17 Gen3 mag drops freely and it helps with reload practices. All in it was $85 shipped to me. I picked up a 19X also hoping the magazine was reusable in my G17 Gen3.

At the local store they sell a Glock gen 3 without blowback and I was excited to get one. Before making a decision to buy it or not I looked online and found your video and was surprised at how much more improved the gen 4 version is, and how many fun features it has. I went to an airsoft website and found the same BB gun from your review for only $50 more than the asking price of the gen 3 and made a purchase. Thanks for the great review of this BB gun. The one I ordered will show up in the mail next week.

I saw on reddit that some people are having trouble with the screw cap going back on after inserting a CO2 canister, some have even completely stripped it trying to get it back on. You don't need force, the key is that it doesn't screw on flat, but at the angle of the mag, so the back will appear tilted down and the front will appear tilted up. Just use the wrench at the same angle as the mag and lightly spin it and it will grab.

Great review ,i actually purchased the m17 .177 pellet pistol based on one of your recent reviews and that in my opinion is the best co2 replica pistol on the market right now, back to the the gen4 glock ..accuracy is not great..but if you work with it you can get get results, but like you say its about "ownership" this thing is pretty dam near to the real thing in terms of feel and operation, if you are looking for more of a collectors piece then this is for you, great trigger that almost goes single action on reset , also the trigger will stay locked back if dry fired with no mag/empty mag (no c02)or locked back slide, the mags DO drop out when you press the mag release (not sure why you would release a mag side ways) . This gen4 model is a lot lot better than all the recently released umerex glocks including the pellet/bb version , that was a big disappointment as i really wanted the pellet version and i had both in hand ,also purchased the non blowback 19 and gen3 17..both sold on. if you want a good as realistic glock 17 gen 4(uk) then i don't think you will be disappointed ...but the sig m17 pellet..great pistol and very accurate.

I finally got mine today. After literally scanning the entire planet and checking the inventory of every air gun store on the internet, I finally found it at Amazon. And no, I'm not shamelessly plugging for Amazon, I'm mentioning where I got it to hopefully help people out who may be looking for it as I was. From what I understand, this particular model is in very high demand. I've seen these things on Ebay for over $500 bucks and used! And as badly as I wanted one, I managed to keep myself in check and not dare spend that much...especially on something that's used. As you say in your review Andy, it's very well made and very sturdy. I have a Umarex Glock 17 Gen 3, a Umarex Glock 19x, and a Umarex Glock 19. Out of all of them, this is definitely the best. I haven't gotten it outside yet to test its accuracy, but I'm keeping my expectations realistic and hoping for the best! I loved this review...thanks Andy, your doing a great service for guys like me.

I thought so! I just ordered mine today (along with a leather holster for training, and to protect against scratches, and a drop leg holster for open carrying the 9mm version of the G4 I have), and I was hesitant as the original review for this gun featured the baseplate, but the last two I've seen including Andy's didn't. I have a Beretta APX by Umarex as well (in addition to the brand new Ruger AirHawk Pellet - that gun is insane), and the Beretta does feature only half-blowback and a tinny slide. Very pleased to hear that the one I've just purchased is exactly what I'm looking for.

The slide was what gives it away and the authorized by Glock writing but yeah I had fun with it since my teenage years and still using it now for fun. Kids outside playing with springers and when I go out and play with it shooting cans, those kids goes crazy it's fun. I'm letting them try it too. The safety is of no concern for me personally, but your defo right in your comments about this. As for the pellet version, i would say dont get your hopes up, it will have the tomo old fashioned magazine that is totally pants. TBH my accuracy was as good as any other air pistol i own (bb anyways) so it may be an individual gun problem. I still hold fast in what i have said, it is the best bb shooter i own, and most realistic i own too. This is a must have for any glock fan. I LOVE IT. Again ..... great review. Just shot this G17 gen4 yesterday for the first time. Looks and feels good. Shoots okay - as all other BB pistols like this one. Shoots horizontally center - but waaaay low (as in this video). Not bad of a grouping though appears under the aimpoint. Used lots of co2. Only a bit over 60 shots - so probably 4 full mags totally.. The fit of the mag into the grip was nice and snug. Sweet that the follower is lockable down - although I do not really use that option myself while loading BBs. The follower spring is not too hard, but just perfect. The slide sits really well on the lower receiver. Love the way they have done the guide rod+spring, barrel and inner barrel setup. All parts easily removed. Those pin locked inner barrels have been annoying to take apart (as on the HK USP and Colt M45 CQBP for example).. Basically a decent BB replica pistol - even though shoots very low.

@@jorgeo1492 I think the backspin is more beneficial for airsoft BBs on longer ranges. My G17 shot 2-3 inches under bullseye from just 6 metres. No hop-up can rectify that. Besides, I already rebuilt the inner barrel setup a long time ago. Is accurately on bullseye now

@@VenomShadows305 I took completely off the original plastic shroud from the tip of the inner barrel. Added a few strips of electrical tape underneath the barrel, where the groove is. And around the inner barrel tip I put a slightly too large rubber o-ring. I then just filed the top part of the o-ring flatter so it lifts the inner barrel tip more upwards but also sits snug within the outer barrel. It kinda is a trial and error thing. If shoots too high - then just do it again with less of inner barrel tip lift. But the original setup shot way too low and was just unforgivable.

Awsome channel Andy an excellent reviews, but when you've fired your last shot and the slide has locked to the rear, check theres no rounds left in the chamber, you then take the mag out first then let the slide go forward and fire off the action, not the other way round 👍

As something to include in the reviews of any air pistol that has the simulated "blow back"/recoil, can you include a quick look at how much the barrel moves around relative to the sites on the slide? It would be a good indicator if the thing can be accurate, and for the small sample I have shot, has been horrendous. For some, an air pistol that can at best shoot a 2 inch group at 25 ft is useless as a tool to practice with at home.

  • @roadhog9974

I bought one of these on the day they came out in the UK (I'm a big Glock fan so have been waiting for this for a while). I think this is about as close as you can hope for to a real Glock 17 with current CO2 tech. It feels pretty nicely made and as Andy says does have a good weight to it, and the recoil is really nice for a CO2. Obviously not close to a real pistol, but again, probably as close as you'll get. The "flaws" with the gun are mainly down to the design of the original (ie the infamous safety), and generally you either buy into the Glock design or you dont. I'd also say mine shoots pretty damn accurately out of the box at around 7m - certainly not low. My one gripe is the price. Whilst it does feel well made, I wouldn't say it feels any better made than my Cyberguns P226, which was around £40 less! I'd also love to have seen something like the shell ejection system in the new Winchester rifle make its way into these, but I'm guessing that's a way off yet due to the limits of space etc in pistols. I think Andy is bang on the money. This gun is all about the realism. If you want a faithful replica, that's fun to shoot, and you like Glocks, you wont be dissapointed. Just wish it was a little bit cheaper!

Good points. I think we are paying for the deal Umarex made with glock. That branded glock name licensed out bumped the price up. Also they were due to be released with laser engraving, but fortunately they heeded the advice of gun fans and shipped the slides back to Germany after assembly for CNC engraving (thank god). Love mine, but have to disagree about it being the same quality as the p226 (which i also own). A lot better imo. Enjoy, cheers, Andy.

This gun is unique in that it uses the same lower as my real glock 17 only difference is two holes drilled to except the co2 conversion when i saw this i was amazed that they were sold because you can buy these with no FFL and you can go to glock and buy a trigger group and a completed slide with no FFL shipped right to your door pop out all the pins drop out the co2 parts drop in the new trigger group pop on the new slide wala working glock 17 and now the left has a gun problem so when they do come to the us its gona be interesting...

@@andyakarudolfhessiansack7936 A quick update a few months in. Andy, you're right, the quality is definitely better than the P226! After a few months the P226 was showing some wear and odd bits of paint had started to rub off. The Glock is still pretty much as it was when it came out of the box - and it gets A LOT of use ;) I pretty much only shoot this now as its so satisfying.

That “hop up” screw that is visible when the slide is off the pistol, I have adjusted mine up and down and it makes no difference at all .. it shoots low either way , just wondering if Andy could enquire or look into this with Drapers? Have read through the comments and a few people have low shooters and one has a good (accurate) out of the box. Not a deal breaker as it’s more of a collection piece but if I can improve the accuracy that would be nice.

Excellent video (especially for a newbie to the hobby). The only downside of this gun seems to be the low shooting tendency and I take what you say about not being built for accuracy but.... Red dot sights can be cheap and despite needing an underslung adaptor to bring a rail up top (as I don't believe the rear sight is dovetailed and therefore doesn't offer the option of a rail plate on top - could be wrong), they would seem to offer a way of compensating for the error. Does this seem plausible or am I missing something and barking up completely the wrong tree?

Hop-up adjustment screw. Theoretically it controls how much backspin is applied to the bb as it travels down the barrel but I've only heard about hop-ups being on airsoft guns so don't know how functional it is.

Four inches low at 8-10 metres? Mine too. Field strip. Take out inner brass barrel assembly and turn the plastic, shouldered split collet back to front. This lets the rubber mounted barrel move within the outer barrel. Not a tack driver but will scare the bullseye of a paper target rather nicely. Very ammo sensitive. Brand new unused Umarex bb's only.
