Great review Andy, I guess this is something I am going to have to save up for, curses, even the sounds it was making while you racked it sounded quality. I like the chalk option, my friend and I have used reactive targets to have an extra indication of hits for years, having it built into the ammo will save a lot on targets. Thanks for your enthusiasm while shooting it, it was nice to see how happy it made you. Peace, love and unity from a fan in Cornwall.

For those asking if you can fit a red dot - no you can't For those looking to buy this gun - be very careful, I bought it, and after using it for a month, the striker piston came out flying and broken in half. I gave it back to the gunshop and they had to send it back to Germany for fixing. Apparently my gun wasn't the only one with this issue, there's plenty of them floating on the market with a manufacturing defect. So when you buy and if you buy it, ask the gunshop seller whether he is aware of the manufacturing issue and whether your model can be confirmed to be from a good batch. Other than that, this is the best-feeling T4E gun you will ever own. Totally worth the money, if you ignore the manufacturing defect, which Umarex will hopefully fix soon.

The rear sight looks like the original which can be tapped lightly and moved left or right in it's groove. I'm surprised to see that they have gone back to the smooth straight pistol grip like the first Glock 17's. I carried both a Glock 17 gen 3 and Glock 19's when I worked in Iraq. It doesn't matter how mucky or dust filled they are, they just keep working!

Nice review as always. The replica look really well made and .43 cal is great for training. I don’t mind the price only if the slide had a bit more blow back like the gen4 bb pistol. I’m training with Glock 45 6mil pistol as it’s blowback is great throw a heavier spring and it kicks like a mule with red gas and even better with co2. Hopefully the realize it’s time to improve or even design the internals in a more realistic way to improve the performance as much as they improve the receiver and slide. Keep up the good work Cheers

Having ummed and ahhed for ages, and already owning a T4E .50cal revolver, I bought the Glock. It really is very good!! I love it and having shot a lot of guns in my life (live fire, air and co2) I can see what all the hype was about with this model. It is a great platform for training as well as lots of fun and is extremely well made. Feels incredibly close to the real thing, and not something I would want to be down range of either! Compatible with many Glock based equipment too, so for those who like to build a collection of 'stuff' around a specific gun, there are many extras to add from genuine issue lanyards, holsters and sight systems. I was lucky to be given a genuine Glock case some years ago and although this comes in that very good quality hard case, mine does look nice in the official Glock garage!

I was concerned about using any all steel rounds, partly due to possible excessive wear on the barrel and mag. but also they would be potentially too heavy to be of much use to me over distance. They would drop a fair amount I should imagine. I have also not tried the rubber and steel mix balls. Not sure I can see the point really. Have fun and stay safe....and legal!

I was so excited for this, something to possibly dethrone my 17 gen 4! Sadly you lost me though when I saw the magazine, for me that style of mag takes away a huge amount of realism and fun in the aesthetics and tactile nature of ownership. That aside, looks like a phenomenally well engineered blowback. If they had a more realistic style mag I’d convert immediately. Thanks for the review!

same, i absolutely hate the magazine, the half slide action, and the ugly metal in the chamber when you cock it. total deal breaker to me. but the rest of the gun is phenomenal.

Couldn't agree more. The bb versions mags are near perfect copies whereas the supposed (Training for engagement) one is rather reminiscent of a cheap 1960's pellet gun. This and the fact it can't fully blowback, or be field stripped, make the Gen 4 bb version a far better choice as a training tool.

Mixed thoughts. High quality fun plinker vs serious paint ball player's gun vs actual FAC Glock 17 user's training tool? It is expensive but beautiful. I have the Dual ammo 17 which is much cheaper and prefer the pellet option.

Hi, I own a Glock 17 gen3 dual ammo but can't find a way to pull the rail off for maintenance and cleaning. Do you have a way to do this? Greetings.

Hi Andy, nice review of a fantastic replica. Are you planning to review the pellet barrelled Umarex M29 at any point?

New to pellet guns and keen to get involved. I think this looks like a fab gun, though I want to use pellets. Does the pellet version need any form of licence in the UK for use in a back garden (we have 1/3 of an acre so plenty of space)? Also do you know when the pellet variant will be available?

Hi Andy. Is this available in black similarly to an air pistol? Or does it fall under the airsoft rule where it must be purchased in two tone colour unless you have a skirmish license?

Would be nice if they did a Beretta M9 and a SIG M17 as well.

We use this Glock 17 Gen 5 T4E ".43 Cal" with our police team, as real combat training. So really shooting at each other, without further protection. Only your eyes are protected. He senses and shoots like our Glock's service weapon.

Hi, does it have a nice blowback kick? It looks weaker than most airsoft pistols from what I've seen.

@@cater4anytink45 you just need to be 18, as its a paintball gun. Can order it to your door, providing you have ID on the day of delivery.
