Actually it's Wadi just trying to get in Ned's head You can tell there's friction after that spike Wadi landed, so he's throwing disable out to get Ned to fear it, and humiliation

@@edwinvega6330 Both characters are barely used. Mewtwo because of his weight and tail hibox problem. Sephiroth because of his horrible frame data, tipper dependent, lightweight and attacks that sometimes do not hit or work at all.

@@Yokai_Yuri Sephiroth is still generally considered top 20 or top 15. It's just that he's not as broken as most of the characters that are super-represented, because he has clear weaknesses, but he's still an excellent character. Mew2 is good after all the buffs but nowhere near that level.

@@Yokai_Yuri sephiroth is not bad. He's insane. Some argue best in the game. I don't agree with that but the arguement is there. Top 20. Mewtwo however is a niche because tail and some inconsistent moves.

Anybody else surprised that the commentator just knew mewtwo’s weight in the games off the top of his head??

Problem with that is that Mewtwo has two ways to deal with Sephiroth counter: Shadow Ball and Confusion. Since Sephiroth counter is a projectile confusion punishes the auto-release as well as being the grab hitbox that doesn't trigger the counter like you saw once in this set. And since Sephiroth Counter doesn't really do anything to projectiles a charged Shadow Ball can just break it. Sephiroth counter is better against other characters, but it's one of the reasons I favor Mewtwo in this matchup, along with the generic projectile superiority.

WaDi with the sweat wipe off his brow was so theatrical and amazing. It's tough for Ned fans watching him in brackets tbh

They do share a few similarities. The devs are known to start with existing characters when creating new ones (like how Bayo used ZSS as a base). Been suspecting Mewtwo was the base character for Sephiroth.

I was debating in another video who the Greatest Mewtwo Player is. Turns out, I was wrong. Wadi has convinced me of this now.

I, as a mewtwo main, think this has to be one of the best smash tournament rounds yet

As a Seph/M2 main this was such a treat to watch. It's not every day I can see some pristine Mewtwo gameplay that actually makes me yell at the screen. I feel guilty for leaving my M2 on the shelf now.... But is it just me or did Ned seem salty that he was losing to M2?

didn't look like it to me. I mean, you literally don't get to see Ned's expression after he loses, so I don't know what to judge it by. And they seem to know and respect each other with all the friendly T-Bagging they did. I doubt he was salty.

Damn Ned. I won’t lie that was the most one sided 5 game set. I feel like Ned wasn’t looking for the right things in this mu and spacing things correctly but then again it’s easy for me to say since I’m not going against wadi. GGs Ned definitely showed off this tournament

Idk man ned is so good at turning shit around when it counts i mean after all it got him two games in a row where one loss would have meant it was over for him. I feel like his playstyle is to meander for a bit and go for things he knows wont work the best to condition to make people fall for the hardest hitting counterplay when it counts the most. Especially that game 4 comeback it just seems like he was waiting to really exploit the tail hitbox up until that point and when he revealed his trap card while having wing it got him the match.

Sephiroth's not really a clone but they're both bioengineered superorganisms.

Fun fact: these characters have the same weight. Further, they both weight the same as pikachu and Fox

Mewtwo has superior frame data, ledge traps and actually good attacks thay can help for the situation. Sephiroth can have all the range he wants but he hits like nothing if he does not tipper, he does not really have a set up combo/ traps and on tops of that Seph is mega light and shielding +punishing is super effective against him.

@@alexneuman600 I mean, Mewtwo’s kind of been relegated to casual main and Robin is going horribly right now (I’m not giving up, but I would not use him in a competitive match at all). But maybe I should give the legendary Pokémon another competitive chance.

I feel like no one knows how to edge guard with sephiroth. They don’t utilize his flare ability which is excellent for edge guarding

@@cornesalvo9366 it’s not punishable if your opponent is off stage and you’re center stage. MkLeo uses it like that all the time. It can’t be punished as long as you use it for edge guarding. Once your opponent is off stage you charge it up and throw it to where it explodes at the ledge. It’s a great edge guarding move

People can wait out the flare with their recovery, and chars with teleport recoveries can pass through the explosion and smack sephiroth for it, like Wadi did in the video with Mewtwo's upB. It's probably only good against characters with bad recovery, but those guys are edgeguarded by everything so yeah

@@doogy947 I have seen it hit although it is rare. An attack doesn’t necessarily have to hit to be effective though. Sometimes it can be used to force your opponent into a position they don’t want to be in and set you up for a punish

Painful to watch someone play Sephiroth and just completely ignore his counter. It's so obscenely strong and would have absolutely punished some of these plays. :/

Sephs don't know their character at all lol. He's similar to cloud and Mewtwo. High potential but no one good played him. (Until spargo picked cloud)

Ned has to down b counter the shadow balls that's one move i almost never see him use Also fake out the blue balls into d smash or dash grab not dash atk But props to him and wadi i love both these players and i play both these characters

@@DudleyOP it has good range once it catches one though i tested it The range is about as big as the space in between the two platforms on small battlefield. You don't have to be directly next to them for it to work, you can be up to a few steps away, and it's a better option than shielding when you sorta close cuz if you shield shadow ball, mewtwo can just grab you

Try out in training mode sometime, on small battlefield. You'll see for yourself how far away seph counter can punish mewtwo for sb And how absurdly early it kills him for it Like at 40% with wing 50% without
