Ramakrishna was a spiritual giant, but there are many spiritually advanced beings even today of a lesser manifestation of ishwara whom we ignore simply because they don't fit the norms of society. It's very easy to hear stories of these people and be devoted, but if we met them today, chances are we would mock them or avoid them.

Thank you so very much, Swami, for giving this beautiful talk about the life and spiritual journey of Sri Ramakrishna! I appreciate these stories and thoughts more than I can tell you. Advaita Vedanta itself helps me to make sense of the visionary experiences I have been blessed enough to receive, but I fear that if I had never had them, then all the lovely rational arguments and explanations about Brahman and Atman, etc. would not have moved me toward actual faith and actual experiences of the Divine in my daily life. Thanks to the glories that I have beheld and thanks to the eloquent and patient way that you describe and unfold Advaita Vedanta for the seekers of the world, I am filled with the divine light every day... but I owe one more huge debt of thanks, and that is to Sri Ramana Maharshi, Sri Ramakrisha, and of course, Ma Sarada Devi herself. I owe the greatest debt of all to Holy Mother. These divine incarnations and the experiences they underwent, as well as the things they told and described to their contemporaries make the journey all the more possible for uneducated heathens such as myself. There is a precious doorway opened when the divine presence takes on a human form, for we can see both the light of God and the childlike faltering nature of humanity entwined, and somehow that co-mingling of forces beckons us all toward God. We are shown that it can be done, and that it can be as awkward and strange as it is beautiful, at times. God welcomes us all though the lives of such people, and hearing their stories is a profound and precious blessing. Thank you, thank you, and a thousand times thank you. Your light and your message are reaching farther than you can probably guess. May you be forever and in all ways blessed, dear Swami. Sincerely, Naomi.

I just wonder the greatness of Rani Rasmani ,Mathur Babu ,Jagadamba! What Sri Ramakrishna was doing during His initial days ,even in today's society, we ,the so-called intelligent people would have considered Him as madman ,as,His every actions those times were abnormal. When at later stage ,Sri M ,Narendranath, Kesab Sen visited He already finished all sadhnas & behaving quite normally. Hence, those persons who recognized Him & treated Him with respect, when in normal eyes He was behaving madly,they are really highly advanced ones spiritually! Those pundits & sadvi who at His initial madly bhava days,considered him as Avatara ,--Vairabi Brahmani ,Vaishnava Charan, Gouri Pundit they all were highly advanced spiritually ,otherwise, normal intelligent people those time were convinced about His sheer madness! The lives of these extraordinary people should be analyzed till they left their body & be remembered, as they themselves are great & played very important parts in this great Ramakrishna movement.

No where sri ramakrishna said you and brahman are. He said final is jivatma is a soul and it is an instrument of Brahman. Swami again tries to establish his shankaracharya advaita through ramakrishna.

@sreevalsans1869 sri ramakrishna did not preach shankaracharya advaita. His advaita sides towards ramanuja advaita. The world is illusion explained not as per shankara's way by ramakrishna. This is evident in swami vivekananda sayings for one's own liberation and welfare of the world. Also, word advaita is common word in upanishads. Shankaracharya advaita is known as kevala advaita or attributesless advaita.

@@regardsk3815 I am not expert on this subject. So you are saying atman is not Brahman and world is not an illusion according to Sri Ramakrishna.

Adding of puri after monastic ordination was never done by 16 direct disciples of sri ramakrishna anywhere. Swamiji never told or signed that he is vivekananda puri Swamis you came after 16 disciples wanted their recognition only from shankaracharya lineage. They were against other vedanta schools. Word advaitiyam is not exclusive word of shankaracharya philosophy. This is just personal prejudice. Totapuri becomes disciple of sri ramakrishna later.

@sumitdutta7043 totapuri learns from sri ramakrishna. Finally, ramakrishna corrected totapuri's nirvisesa advaita. Ramakrishna order is started by sri ramakrishn and not shankaracharya. Sri ramakrishna teaching differs from shankaracharya. Swamiji says one's own liberation and welfare of the world. He did not say the world is mirhya.

@sumitdutta7043 nothing for sri ramakrishna to learn. He already had vision ma kali and attained the highest. He was an incarnate. He corrected his gurus Jatadhari Haladhari Bhairavi Totapuri. He gave the audience the opportunity to correct the understanding of imbalance prevailing in understanding of vedanta in the above people. Comments should be written to registered feedback
