An excerpt from an article defending this album (primarywave.com/goulds-uninvited-guests-is-out-now/) makes the correct claim that Gould was a musical iconoclast, and a innovator willing to defy conventional expectation - making an implicit comparison of Gould and his interpretation of the Goldberg Variations and this group's use of Gould's recordings. To the passing reader who makes no effort to actually listen, this could very well be a compelling point, but obviously, to anyone who's seen the content above, it's beyond ridiculous. Beyond what can be thought of 'remixing', the underlying problem is how unrelated this album is to Gould. The album, as this clip shows, takes very little, or even nothing, of value from Gould's recordings. For starters, this clip is so short that it is pretty much impossible to distinguish the piece that it is from, and even less, any sort of the unique phrasing or interpretation that Gould is well known for. To make matters worse, even the content layered over the repeated clip has nothing to do with the piece or interpretation of the recording from which the repeated clip is drawn from. Anyone who's actually listened to this and still claims that this is 'innovation' is a fool. And this is regardless of whether one likes or dislikes Gould, or for that matter, any sort of classical music. Such people are the type of cretins who'll drink urine, while paying top dollar and nodding their heads in approval, so long as it's served out of a bottle labeled Dom Perignon - a la the 'cannibal' food critic in Sacha Baron Cohen's show 'Who is America'.

This album is just the biggest marketing mistake ever made.

The cringe content on this channel just keeps coming and I doubt that those involved even have the good sense to be embarrassed by it. This is what you get when posturing and affectation are valued over discipline and talent.

I have loved GG since I first heard him playing the Goldberg Variations over 30 years ago, and his innovative interpretation and often unpredictability set him apart for me. What saddens me most here is the unbelievable musical snobbery on display in the comments. Glenn was ever the musical innovator and I don't feel this is an any way disrespectful to his work or his memory. All I can add to those commenting that they are now leaving the channel is, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out

Glenn Gould? Not even close. This is a bad joke.

It actually sounds quite nice really; but I think its a bit silly to have only those two chords from (I think it's from a Beethoven sonata?) Gould's performance, in this song, and claim that he had a hand in its development. His contribution is totally negligible. Which then begs the question of the exact purpose of this music on this specific channel. There's no clear connection to me. But, again, this is fine music, nonetheless.

You tried! Is this a success? Fuck no but you can try again. You reaaally got to listen to a lot of gould to make something like that good. I think gould was the least important part in this “song”. So what is the point? How about you include more of gould playing, rather than looping 3 notes which he played.
