Glen Campbell 1st Time on TV with Bagpipes Amazing Grace 1973

Музыка

/ glencampbell
Glen Campbell performs Amazing Grace on his first set of bagpipes on the BBC in London in April 1973. To the best of our knowledge, this is the very first time Glen performs with the instrument on TV, as he had recently learned how to play them in the year preceding this telecast.

So let’s get this straight. One of the best singers of the twentieth century, a chart-topping recording artist, and a world class guitar virtuoso. Then he comes out and tops it all with Scottish bag pipes. Players gonna play.

The best part for me is that by the Amazing Grace of God and through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as having paid my sin debt in full, I truly once was blind but now I see. I was saved over 44 years ago and have never been the same person since!

Beautiful performance ~ Glen Campbell was a Piper for nearly 45 yrs! A few bagpipe purists have told me that he wasn’t a REAL piper. I’ve played for 2 1/2 years, and yes, I can hear that he doesn’t exactly play the ancient “embellishments” (and ONLY those). Yet he has applied modern “ornamentation” beautifully to his Piping. Fine by me.

Charlotte Fairchild - Aw c'mon. They can be tuned. The problem is so many so called pipers don't know how to. Another problem is most people listening don't know the difference and wouldn't know a good piper if they fell over them. Anyway....Do you know the difference between a dead snake on the road and a dead piper on the road? There's skid marks before the snake. Don't blame me for that one. I'm a piper.

@@mudskipper0075 - As you are obviously aware, that's not only true for a solo piper but if a band isn't tuned spot on to each other the sound waves cancel each other and the volume and tone of the band goes down the tubes.
