Originally Twinkies had banana cream filling inside. During WW II there was a banana shortage and they switched to a vanilla cream filling.

I made these with my boy as part of his home schooling (weights and measures and following instructions). He loved it and the doughnuts were delicious.

That's so awesome! Most children learn much better through fun and practical activities than being told to sit down and shut up to look at a whiteboard. I'm sure he learned a lot of information that he'll retain easily from that experience! Good on you.

After weeks of people hoarding food I was finally able to find some flour and sugar. So this looks like something I will definitely make this weekend.

Quarantine bake: did them at night......it was sooooo nice!!!! It's fluffy and sweet and because the banana I used had a tangy taste, it brought a while new dimension. Really enjoyed it, 10/10♥️💗

I'm making these with the kids during my lockdown (Quebec). They are such a morale booster for the entire family! Thank you so much for the recipe! Instead of custard (I didn't have all the ingredients) I put strawberry jam, triple berry jam, and a lemon pie filling. These wonderful banana donuts will definitely be made very soon in our home. I wish my mom was still here. She always loved banana cream flips (flipped cakes with banana cream in the middle). We used to buy them whenever we could dind them. She would love these. They are laying people off so they can collect unemployment. The other way they get nothing. Many small businesses cant afford to pay people for not working during this time as they have no customers becaused they are closed.

Emma these look amazing Tip: U can ad citric acid, lemon juice or orange juice to the banana to prevent it from browning. Just a tiny amount since it's only one banana.

@@EAnaomiEM U can try half of the 1/4 tsp, that's 1/8 tsp. Citric acid and lemon juice have a strong flavor. It just there to preven oxidation. I can't give u the exact measurement for this. Maybe u can experiment with one or two bananas beforehand. One with 1/4 and the other with 1/8, taste it and see how it goes. Hope that helps.

Hi Emma... Your recipe turns out great everytime. U r perfect as my baking teacher. All the science and tastes incorporated in your recipes. Plz tell me u use dairy heavy cream or non dairy??? I need to learn this. Coz in India we get less percentage of dairy heavy cream. Does not turn out to stiff peaks. Plz guide.
