Coloring Book still my favorite release by them
What a show I remember this so vividly I just wrote this to share this video to FB, figured some of you might appreciate it: Nearly 10 years ago Glassjaw played at the Forum, the show was great, they played all the bangers, they played their most recent music off Our Colour Green, they left, we all got ready to leave.... it’s what happened next that matters. It was at this point they returned to the stage and played new music that no one had heard, it took us all by surprise given they had released an EP (our colour green) in January of 2011 only a few months before this show, and they’d played most of it in the previous 90min set, but this was new, and different. No one really knew what it was, the encore simply opened with Daryl Palumbo stating “we’ve been writing some music and we’d love to play it for you” at which point they played, and they didn’t stop to chit chat, they just immersed themselves and everyone else in the room into their music. Come the end of the encore Palumbo thanked everyone for “being a great audience” and screens lit up with the words “collect your copy of Colouring Book tonight” on it. If you were at that show you left with an EP handed out free to everyone as we all left. Until this last week that EP has not been on streaming sites, nor could you buy it, either you were there, or you weren’t. Of course it ended up online and shared between friends, but it wasn’t easy to find. It was always special to me, to the point when I was handed 2 as I left, I still have one sealed, on a shelf. I had no idea until now that this was filmed, I’m there, somewhere, and I still remember the feeling when they came back and played new music, but it’s the fact they kept the new music for the fans who went to their shows, kept it special for so long that makes me reflect on my experience fondly. In an age where some artists don’t even bother with releasing an album, and simply release tracks when they are ready, or by the time there is an album you’ve heard 5 of the 9 tracks already, I commend Glassjaw for keeping music special. If you don’t have time for the whole 28minutes, or it’s not your bag, then skip to 24mins, the last 4 minutes of this set just gave me the same goosebumps all over again. 10 years later.

This is honestly incredible. As someone who got into Glassjaw around 2017 because people were hyping up Material Control, I didn't know of any such shenanigans. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and, Coloring Book is imo their most mature, consistent and easily my fave release.
Very underrated record that surprisingly not a lot of people know about.

@@monchiscastorena8768 nah dude, I've seen them live in every incarnation including with Todd + Larry. They had great energy with that lineup, but they sound 100x better, tighter and more powerful as a 4-piece

@@Strizz484 so have I....each one multiple times.....they might sound tighter but it can be boring at times without the chaos...that's what it was all about....also IMO Larry was the best drummer.....he allowed them to go nuts but at the same time keep it together.
I just fucking love Daryl Palumbo. Everything he does is epic. I was so close to the stage he was screaming into my face at a club show I went to when I was in high school & I've been hooked ever since. It was the highlight of my life.
Beck’s sense of rhythm is so good. Awesome performance

my favorite release of them. god tier drums and bass
Some of the best drumming I've ever heard.
One of the rare bands where every member stand out at some point. They've been putting out some of the craziest vocals melodies and breakdowns for a hardcore group since the 90s. RESPECT🤘

I come here every month just to hear "Black Nurse" live. Been down since Worship & Tribute dropped when I was a very young man. Lol
Only just got around to listening to this in full, god this ep is outstanding. Every song is a standout, love the story behind this 2011 set & how everyone was given the ep afterwards. Such a classy gesture for their fans

Да, это так круто, что на уровне Эйба Кэнингема!
coloring book is so motherfucking underrated
I still have found nothing that has compared musically to Coloring Book. It's so unique in and of itself, but it came out of nowhere from a band WELL revered within the confines of the NY-hardcore scene, and the post-hardcore genre as a whole. Saw them on the tour with Coheed in Florida when they were handing this out as a physical CD, sort of like a companion piece to the digital EP Our Color Green.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen something so original.
I got to go to the tour when they were handing this record out for free on your way out the door. So sick. ✊🏾
Best album all time
Glassjaw is for the people 💪
February 2011 in Houston. Badass show. My best friend growing up introduced me to Glassjaw. It was our last concert together. RIP.
This album is fucking incredible and sits in a category all it's own. I wish I had way more of this.
Saw that shit in Orlando 2011. Didn't know I witnessed history watching CB performed front to back. Thanks for the free cd.

I was at the Firehouse show, as well. I remember the encore well, thinking "how have I not heard any of these songs before?"
I fucking love them having the led backing behind them for those silhouette shots
Durijah is such an amazing drummer. Playing open handed like that let's him do things that will be much harder for traditional drummers to pull off. Ask how I know lol
This is their best release, in my opinion. Justin’s guitars are what make it my favorite. Incorporating different styles of music into the Gj fold is admirable and appreciated as a fan.
This is the lineup I wish they kept

Ape Dos Mil, Must’ve Run All Day, Trailer Park Jesus, Convectuoso, Oxycodone… Список можно продолжать долго
Great great mix

UK 2022 ANYONE ?
I have loved gJ since blindly buying the debut just because it was a roadrunner release....i was hooked from the first track, played the album entirely..was in a moment of reflection daze as daryl says for the last time pack your shit and leave....only to be further inspired by the hidden track ...their follow up record?.not the same reception...tho there was certainly songs that made my day many times over..2017 release was incredible and unexpected to see a album out by them...but this???..over my head ?... acquired taste?...
I wonder when I'm gonna see Glassjaw live....

I remember seeing Glassjaw with my best friend back in 2011 when the Coloring Book EP came out. When they came back for their encore, they played this. We were like “what is this?” since this was new material. They were giving away free Coloring Book cds which was fucking sick. While W&T is my favorite GJ album, this is second for me.
Wow, definitely a peak for this band creatively. I missed an entire album? Maybe more?
