Glass Etching Made Easy

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Marlene Watson shows Pattie how easy it is to etch on glass with Armour Etching Cream. Lately Pattie has been etching names on wine glasses for friends so that when they stop by to hang out in her new studio they have their own personalized wine glass. So easy and very cool. Shawn, yes, you can cut your own stencils from regular contact paper and it should work fine. Hope that helps.

You'll have to check your local Michaels or Hobby Lobby, or other craft store-depending on where you live. You may also be able to get it on-line.

Do you need a special vinyl stencil or would any vinyl sticker work as a stencil?

Steven Myers I believe any stencil will work, but to be certain you can check their website for help: www.armourproducts.com/ecom-catshow/Armour_Etch.html Thanks for your question.

+Steven Myers You can use a personal stencil but you need to spray the other side with adhesive so it sticks firmly to the glass. Any bumps will let the etching cream seep under and destroy the design.

If I want to etch a 2ftX2ft glass completely, will it work? I've heard it comes out blotchy unless its sandblasted. Any thoughts?

+Slap Stick It doesn't etch well on large areas. Plus that would take an enormous amount of etching cream and it's really expensive.

+Slap Stick No but I imagine that would be easier. Are you looking to make a sign, or just cover some glass? You can use Vinyl, or window cling.

Lori Peterson I want to "frost" " a 2' x 2' square window which is part of a cabinet...basically cover the glass, but look decent, letting the inside cabinet light show through.

why is the etching cream yellowish ? armour is white

  • @PattieWack

The etching cream yellows as it is exposed to the air. One of the nice things about the cream is that you can reuse it, by scooping it back into the jar. Thanks for watching videos at PattieWack Designs!
