Glashütte Original Watches 2019. Hands-on the cool SeaQ Divers

#glashuetteoriginal As you might already know Swatch Group did not attend Baselworld in March. Swatch Group decided to leave the world watch and jewelry show and to create an own format how to present its novelties. Today is the 17th of May 2019 and I have been spending the last three days in Switzerland to discover the novelties of the luxury brands of Swatch Group. Among them of course also Glashütte Original!
So, you will now be able to discover the following new watches in different executions:
Glashütte Original SeaQ 1969 (only 69 pieces - what a limitation!)
Glashütte Original SeaQ
Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date
Please stay tuned since this is only one of the first videos going online. In the next days I will also show you the new luxury timepieces of Blancpain, Breguet, Harry Winston, Omega and Jaquet Droz.
Please do also use the comment section of KZread and let me know what you think and/or write me if you have any questions. I am very curious to read your comments and more than happy to get back to you and answer your questions.

Since exactly 2 montha now, I am owner of the Seaq Panorama Datum and I LOVE it. I took the black dial because the applied numbers are in a soft mint green. The watch is stunning, gorgeius to watch. At first I felt it heavy on my wrist but after some weeks I started asking myself if I still wear.or already took it out. The dial is so beautiful...I really enjoy the watch and I think and thank you it was good that you told before nearly one year that you recommended the seaq over the overseas. I not get bored with the watch like with the Polaris I had before. Also the superluminova works perfect, I remember being in the cinema with the Jlc and not being able to read the time... Well I hope I can enjoy the watch for many decades. Thank you alot and stay healthy

I agreed with you in all your statements, the dial is so amazing and I love that I’m able to see the gorgeous movement (something I couldn’t do with my Rolex) the lume is juts insane ...I have the gray textile strap which make it looks more sporty but I will order soon the stainless steel bracelet as I would use it for the office as well (suit and tie) ... the Panorama datum is juts such of amazing feature - it really make the watch more special. Cheers and enjoy the German machine 👌🏻

Both, Blancpain and Glashütte Original, are high-end watch manufacturers. Glashütte original manufactures less watches per year than Blancpain, so you might consider the SeaQ being the more exclusive watch... In terms of quality, haptics and calibre I would only see minimalistic differences... Both are stunning beautiful divers! It would be very hard for me if needed to decide which one to buy...

It is very informative and you are professional in handling timepieces. It is the correct and only way to handle timepieces wearing gloves on both hands. Most video uploaders do not even bother to. When they handle the watches with bare hands, they start to introduce ridiculous amounts of fingerprints and oily smudges to especially glossy parts of the watches; that is a great injustice to the intended beauty of them. I have even seen a greater joke, some wear gloves on one hand but leave the other hand to stain the watch while introducing it. Thanks for sharing this video! Fantastic watch with superb finishing and detailing! The Panarama Date is definitely on my list for next purchase.

WatchAdvisor hi Alexander - finally I made my decision and got me the SeaQ Panorama Datum- black dial (as I will use it daily) to replace my Rolex Submariner. The Glashütte SeaQ Panorama Datum is by far the best diver available in the market (Accuracy is at the moment spot on +1 minute per day) the legibility is amazing and the lume breathtaking. It’s a great feeling to be able to see the movement beating throughout the case back (something I could never appreciated with Rolex) ... thank you as always for your advise....

Alexander. Thank you for this elaborate and well made review. As a german expat abroad and a relatively new and younger watch enthousiast I decided to transform my yet small swiss collection into a german-only collection. For the more sophisticated dressers I would want to get an ALS but those seem to be way beyond my budget so imho Glashütte Original would be the closest I could possibly get to german haute hologerie. I already love the PanoMaticLunar but haven't tried it on yet (PML might turn out too bulky for my 16.5 cm wrist) But if it fits my wrist well I'm playing with the thought of dressing it down with a vintage leather strap to make it more suitable as a daily "beater". Do you think that makes sense, or would you consider that blasphemous? I would love to see GO come up with an awesome equivalent of the Rolex Explorer (I would actually buy it if it weren't a Rolex nor a non-german brand) I also start to like the 39.5mm SeaQ. It's a stunningly beatiful timepiece. However...Since it's equipped with a phenomenal GO manufacture caliber I think it's a shame the 39.5mm version has no exhibition caseback. I would also like to be able to opt for a blue dial and/or no-date configuration. As for a proper dive watch I would have appreciated a bit more water resistance although with 300m I should not worry to go for a decent swim. Ergo: To me the SeaQ is not really a proper dive watch (for that I'm considering a Sinn EZM3) but at the same time the SeaQ is too sporty to be this versatile daily watch (which the Explorer is. I hate to admit that) How do you see this? Do you have suggestions for my all german collection? Cheers!

  • @WatchAdvisor

    @WatchAdvisor

    4 жыл бұрын

Tim, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! Where shall I start? Nothing is impossible or a no-go if you like it. You can wear that Glashütte Original with a vintage leather strap. Why not? If you like it, then go for it. I wear a Senator Chronometer blue dial with a blue matching nato strap and it looks absolutely cool... The 39,5 mm SeaQ would be a watch that comes close to the Explorer and the Explorer also has a closed case bottom... See ist this way: You know about the beauty of the calibre used and most of the time you wear a watch on the wrist and you don't see the calibre anyway. 300 meters are more then enough to do almost everything with a watch. Everything more is cool to have, but who really needs it. Therefore I would consider the new Divers of Glashütte Original to be real Divers... The Sinn EZM3 by the way does not have a German calibre, but an ETA from Switzerland. So is it really a German watch as you want to see it? What about the Seventies Panoramadatum? Have you ever considered this watch? Or the Seventies Chronograph Panoramadatum? Both with metal strap look cool I think ...

@@WatchAdvisor Wow. Thanks for the quick reply Alexander! Regarding the PML I guess I will just have to try it on and see what a vintage strap will do to it. I could also opt for the blue dial version which in my opinion would already make it slightly more casual on the other hand a bit more difficult to match with formal attire. I know there is not a single watch that perfectly suits any situation, but nearly perfect would be nice hahaha. Regarding the EZM3: I do not intend to compare it to the SeaQ! For that they are too different and play in totally different leagues (also in terms of financials) To me a sportswatch doesn't necessarily need to have a beautiful in-house movement, perhaps I would even prefer a reliable, easy to service and reasonably priced ETA or Sellita movement such as in the Sinn watches (which are btw nicely regulated, modified as well as decorated) So for rugged sports or travel watches I'm not too rigid when it comes to the watch components being entirely german. I consider the exclusive in-house movement in a diver such as the SeaQ a bonus that wants to be admired every night before going to sleep or picking it up in the morning. You probably know what I mean hihi The seventies line I have never considered so far. I just checked them out on the GO website and I must say that I am a bit hesitant towards the case design and I am not a fan of integrated bracelets. But I won't dismiss them right away. When I go to try the PML I will ask to also try that Seventies line and see if it gros on me. Thank you very much for your input and your suggestions. I appreciate it. Have a nice day.

I like the whole spectrum of watch types, from dress watches to divers, so no limitation there😄 In my case I don’t like special design elements, for example arabic numerals (except on a few watches). I think here it is also too much in combination with the arrow-hand and numerals on the bezel, although I know that for this watch ‚form follows function’ with respect to readability of course. If I had to mention a diver I would pick the Omega Seamaster 300m, simple indices in combination with the striking hands, for me a perfect balance. A watch has to speak to me in three (four) points: 1. Design 2. Quality/Function 3. History (4. unfortunately Price🤣) I hope this answers your question it‘s hard to describe sometimes👍🏻 To mention one of my watches of my collection: Sinn 104 St Sa I

So daring must not mean having success... Bulgari dared with the Octo Finissimo and now has a lot of success, but there was a risk....

I really wish the 39mm model had smaller Arabic numerals! I realize it is an homage to the past, but it’s an homage to a time when the company was under Communist control, when everything was designed with a brutalist and deliberately crude mindset. It was designed to be an extremely inexpensive and cheaply made watch, and things designed under the Communist Party were supposed to be ugly as to avoid capitalist decadence. So reissuing this design as such an expensive piece is weird. You don’t see anyone reissuing or admiring vintage Soviet era cars, buildings, etc. For the larger model, love the blue but kind of wish they had a no date version.

Tastes are different! So you don't like these huge Arabic numerals, others instead do and will like them. This was a clear choice to design and manufacture a tool watch with perfect readability. For me the proportions on the dial are perfect! The only flaw the SeaQ 1969 and SeaQ have is their size. For me these watches are too small. The SeaQ Panorama Date is perfect in size and its look is great. I would also like to see a pure version with no date. Could be an alternative and nice extension in the new Specialist collection.
