The Glashütte Original PanoMatic is an amazing watch and I immediately fell in love with it when I saw it on the web. I obsessed over this watch and spent many hours looking at pictures and watching videos. On a recent trip, I had the opportunity to try the blue and green dial on wrist and came to the realization that although it is extremely beautiful, it is not for me! My wife and wallet thank me for this epiphany. LOL. Awesome video! Love your content!

One regulator adjusts the beat error (how far the balance wheel spins to the right vs the left) and the other changes how quickly the balance wheel beats. It's nice that they include two swan neck regulators so that both can be finely adjusted. Correcting the beat error otherwise is a pain, especially for an amateur like myself. Usually several minutes of overcorrecting a tiny lever in both directions until I get it right by accident.

Great video, and I think you summarized my watch taste / choices vert well. So many watches out there exist which are outside of my budget for what they are. If I spend an exorbitant amount of money, I want to wear the watch. I want to enjoy it, and I expect it to be a part of my life. During that time, I don't want to be afraid to live my life with said watch. So it has to be water resistant for me over a certain price. I also have a bad habit though where I look at my watch expenses by the price per time spent on the wrist. Sporty watches tend to be a better value at the end of the day. While far outside my budget, I'm really hoping to someday see a video of yours with the Gronefeld Delta works. That watch appears to be perfection. The urban Jurgenson One would be another watch I'd love your take on.

Hey Chris. Just wondering how versatile you feel this piece is. There's a blue model on watchrecon at the moment for $7600. Way at the top of my range but seems like a good deal on a brand new watch. @@daviddigilio3036 like you mate I'm not a suit fella but find it very versatile. As the vid suggests, it's not a dainty watch and wears quite sporty in a dressy way, if that makes sense. Highly recommend bud, if you can snag one and not skint yourself I'd say go for it 👍

Off-center dials only exist to make room for other complications and to show off a watchmaker's prowess. I thought that because they're so popular with German brands, they'd have some kind of cool practical function, but beyond being easy to read, but it's just another way to arrange displays in a tiny circle.

Great video of a great watch from a great company. BUT I wish you had examined the strap more closely. As I recall (and if I'm wrong, someone correct me), this strap is secured to the deployant clasp with a small screw. This is super secure, which is great. But it means that you cannot adjust the length of the strap on a warm day without getting your tools out and trying not to lose a small screw. This, more than the thickness of the deployant clasp, is a deal-breaker for me (for the strap, not the watch). This is especially odd considering that GO bracelets are famously easy to adjust on the fly. Your solution -- a simple tang buckle, makes all kinds of sense.
@gelmibson883 Жыл бұрын
I never would question that GO built in a "Großdatum" and a "Mondphase" into that model. Nether the less they wrote it big next to these complications. On the other hand, I nether questioned the "Stunde", "Minute" and "Sekunde" either but they didn't wrote it big next to it. I really don't know what to make of it.

My grail watch is a Lange 1, however, I will never be able to afford one. I have frequently looked at this as an alternative. But I have bad OCD and the gap between the minute markers at 24, 25, 35 and 36 really bothers me!!! The 15 and 45 second markers on the sub second dial don't seem to synchronise in with the hour dial. The sub second dial on the Lange 1 overlaps the main dial perfectly. (Maybe this comment is better suited to the AD Guy Channel !) The Glasshutte is a beautiful watch nonetheless. Great video.

I think GO is an under-rated brand. The more affordable Lange. I have an example from the Senator line on my "must buy one day soon when I have enough money" list. My wrists don't love the 40mm, and I find the thickness/diameter ratio on this watch to be unappealing. I don't mind diameter on a watch (I have a large contingent of Panerai in my collection), but thickness without the corresponding diameter, meh. Love everything else about this watch though!

You could likely get a watch with better horology for less money (JLC), or more history for less money (Blancpain Fifty Fathoms). It’s the second most prestigious German brand. Crazy piece… might get one for my birthday 👍🏻
What a great watch! I'm not fond of complications but this one is ❤️
Great video, and I think you summarized my watch taste / choices vert well.
I'm not a huge fan of the watch but they nailed that green. One of the best and I love green dials.
I own the silver and in a way held out for the green even though I love it. Totally agree regarding thickness, I was concerned at first but like you didn't find it a problem. The deployant does indeed suck!!! The movement and finishing on this though is another level. Great vid as always mate

Hey Chris. Just wondering how versatile you feel this piece is. There's a blue model on watchrecon at the moment for $7600. Way at the top of my range but seems like a good deal on a brand new watch. Seems like any watch can be dressed down nowadays, and as I'm not a suit and tie guy, I'm wondering how much use I'll get out of this one.

@@daviddigilio3036 like you mate I'm not a suit fella but find it very versatile. As the vid suggests, it's not a dainty watch and wears quite sporty in a dressy way, if that makes sense. Obviously I wouldn't go mountain climbing in it 😂. I find it works great in t-shirt and jeans, and the blue would be even more versatile. Highly recommend bud, if you can snag one and not skint yourself I'd say go for it 👍

@@daviddigilio3036 I have the exact one in blue for about half a year now, and I can't stop looking at the dial. I like that the blue uses blue discs for the date instead of white on the green dial. The blue is definitely more sporty and can be dressed down easily. Go for it, once you have it in your hands, look at how well finished and fascinating the movement is and you will quickly forget about how much you paid for it!

Evan, you’re the absolute best at this watch-video- review-make me want to be a Watch reviewer-thing. Interesting that I’ve been thinking about this model in blue as well as the SeaQ 39 blue. Not there yet on either but very close. GO is killing it right now. Wish they did a more modern looking diver and they’d probably already have my money.
A real beauty for a watch connaisseur!
I have to say that your reviews which are focused, informative, with some great humour and done within a very acceptable time are the best I have come across. As such, I have been watching a few of your old ones and would love you to make good on a promise to review a brand you looked at 10 months ago. So, how about a review on the Christopher Ward Bel Canto?!?!? I will settle for your view as I am sure you would want your hands on one - which I don't think will happen anytime soon!
I also own the silver dial, and really enjoy wearing it. The thickness as you point out is the downer. I’ve no issue with the clasp. Thanks for the excellent video.

Thanks for making this video. It’s on the top of my short, next acquisition list. Blue or Grey variant. I only wish it was Nomos thin, like 9 or 10. Also I love the look of the moon phase, but the practicality of the other one with a power reserve indicator.

You should try it on in real life if you havent already, the thickness is nothing that bothers me tbh.
I’m a little obsessed with this watch at the moment.
I love it as well and keep trying to find reasons as for why it would not be reasonable to buy it but one day it will be in my collection! 😇
Great video. This watch has serious appeal. I might just have to check it out in the metal.
God that movement is insane
What a Beauty 😍
I owned the white/silver model for a few years and just sold it to finance a few other watches. The only niggle I did not like for a dress watch was the thickness. Deciding to sell it was a difficult one because it was a well built watch and different than any of my other watches.
You should take a look at the Seiko SPB299, would be a nice winter themed dial to talk about.
What a beauty 😍
I set out the other day looking for a birthday watch. Checked out the green IWC pilot chronograph. Then looked at the green dial speedmaster 57. Oh my decisions. Then went to Teddys newly open storefront. And what was sitting in a stand alone case. This exact watch! Just fell in love with. What to do? Which one for my Birthday?
My favorite OG is the Senator Chronograph Flyback panorama date white dial!
IMO the finishing of GO's watches is best in class. I love this watch. My only gripe would be all the labeling. Oh, thankfully they tell you that's a moonphase- I never would have figured it out. Apart from all that, I think this watch would be a constant reminder that I can't afford a Lange 1.
That’s just about as beautiful as I might have guessed. Hopefully I’ll find one under the Hannukah Bush ✌🏻
From your GO reviews, would you take this or the SeaQ Pano Date?
I'd love if you checked out the VC 56, not many videos on that watch - would love to hear your take on it
Great video as always Evan! Who do you use to insure your watches? I have been meaning to do this..
Great video as always! Just wondering, did you do something to change the mic input on this video? Your voiceover sounds markedly different to other videos, but I cant put my finger on it....
Off-center dials only exist to make room for other complications and to show off a watchmaker's prowess. I thought that because they're so popular with German brands, they'd have some kind of cool practical function, but beyond being easy to read, but it's just another way to arrange displays in a tiny circle.
Great move, and great video again! I can only sympathize: I'm on the lookout for a Panoreserve myself (silver dial). And guess what, the Panoreserve is exactly 1mm thinner (thanks to the hand-wound movement).

Panoreserve is the way imo. Myself i got an automatic but might trade it in the future for a Panoreserve. Its just so hard to let go, i got the earlier version without lume and moonphase. Super clean.
Love it!
Frick yeah, more dress watches please!
In a world of Trolex and BB58 its a thing of beauty
I feel like the panomatic lunar gets all the love, but I will be honest the panoreserve is what I would get if this watch fit my lifestyle/budget

I can’t understand why Glashutte is such an overlooked brand.
I am very into the white dial version of this watch The green is very nice too tho
I really like this a lot, but perhaps like the 70s line more and the JLC ultra thin moon even more. That said, I am legit a sucker for big dates.
Great video, as always! That doesn't look like a Fibonnacci spiral (minute 3:28)...looks like some random spiral. Doesn't look like it was constructed using squares whose side lengths are the sum of the side lengths of the adjacent squares.

@YoureTerrific People usually blow the fibonnacci spiral and the golden ratio out of proportion, in this case it's quite literally out of proportion. It's not a fibonnacci spiral. Prove me wrong, show me the squares used to construct it 😉
I agree with your closing statement, for $10k it’s hard to trust myself to not beat the hell out of my watches. A $10K diver can take a beating where a $10k dress watch, I’ll take the beating once I look down and it’s not ticking 😅. Love the look of dress watches tho!

The dial looks beautiful but too many things counting against it imo. Thickness, low WR, mediocre power reserve etc. Hopefully they can fix the thickness and low power reserve so I can consider it again.
I'm not going to lie, the blue one caused my heart rate to increase. The only thing, and I mean only thing holding me back, is the brand logo. It just doesn't jam for me.
I love it in blue, but for some reason I can’t bring myself to buying one.

This watch is a bit heartbreaking. A bit too thick. A bit too little power reserve. A bit too little water resistance. Absolutely gorgeous and beautifully made. A dress watch in a sports watch era. Thank you for the excellent review!
This is a stunningly beautiful watch but the price point makes for a hard sell. You could likely get a watch with better horology for less money (JLC), or more history for less money (Blancpain Fifty Fathoms). It’s the second most prestigious German brand. You just really have to love this watch or have ridiculous amounts of disposable income for it to be a factor.
I don't like excentric handsets (small seconds excluded), because of the worse legibility, emptier dial and overall bad aesthetic balance. This one, though, is a stunner.
It would look absolutely amazing on my 7.25 inch wrist. Again, ON MY SEVEN AND A QUARTER☝🏻 INCH WRIST 🤣
I have one to sell, green, FullSet. Want to buy te PanomaticCalendar.
Somehow in green the whole watch pops, and it doesn't look like a dress watch anymore. Strange.
I am a delicate fancy boy….😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉. Shit man what a dose of reality lol.
”Wouldn’t be prudent”…. 😂😂😂
And here’s the big chunky butt. I’m noticing a theme to your quotes! (I like big watches and I cannot lie)
Can’t swim with a 10k watch goes for speedy as well 😂
Do you really swim that much where you have to be constantly concerned about ending up in water with a watch on? Alternatively you could, you know, either not wear a watch or just wear one with more water resistance. I found myself constantly saying the same thing for years--"I don't like that I can't swim with this"--until I realized I've swam like 2 days in 3 years.
