Oh, how I want an A. Lange & Söhne, and oh, how an A. Lange & Söhne continues to evade me. Flying this close to perfection has its price to pay, and that’s quite literally the price you have to pay for an A. Lange & Söhne. Excellent, they are, cheap, they are not, and no amount of feeling like you’d really appreciate it more than anything else in the world makes that RRP come down any lower. But can you scratch that itch for a fraction of the cost?

The Glashütte Pano Reserve had me literally stopping breathing in admiration: an absolutely gorgeous piece with a degree of finishing that greatly surpasses anything I've seen so far at this price point. It's instantly become my grail.

Yeah I agree - it beats the blue.
The funny thing is that the GO Panoreserve has a better date function, with both numerals on the same plane, while A.Langhe has them one above the other so they use a date divider to cover that up, while GO shows proudly how it's done!!!
@Kpiotr

I agree, I like the GO big date better. The difference with current models is that all new Lange 1 have date jumping at midnight, which I'm sure a GO doesn't yet have.

I have to disagree,i think the divider hides the shape of the circular wheels of the date wheels. And i think the angular look of the GO looks unsightly to my eyes. I'm glad Lange puts the divider there to hide this unsightly flaw.

@@TwentyOne_Five Hi, I am also interested in Panomatic Lunar watch. I would like to know more about date being changed late. Is that normal for all mechanical watches? Or is this only happening on this particular model? Thanks
Glashutte Original might be the most underrated watch brand out there: 7:48. They make all parts and tooling (!) themselves. They are on the same level of Moser in terms of hand-finishing and hand-engraving and have more elaborate dials with the Senator Sixties but they are even more underrated. Thanks for bringing GO to our attention. But they deserve a own video and not just to be seen not as the little brother of Lange.

I have to say this is my favorite watch channel. Every detail from the shots to the dialogue is as immaculate as the hand work on the as the Lange 1
I recently got a Nomos Orion and my grandma bought a Saxonia Thin at the same time. Having worn both back to back, as much as I love my Nomos, I must say there is just something so special about Lange that you can’t put your finger on...

Reza R 37mm in rose gold and it’s absolutely gorgeous. tbh for me the nomos works quite well as an everyday watch since i tend to dress quite formally anyway. but it’s also my only “nice” watch so i’m sure if i had a great sports watch i’d wear that for my more casual outfits.
First lottery win purchase right there in this video. I wince when I see people wearing £20K Daytonas, when they could have had Lange 1. There is no comparison.
That ALS 1815 with the blue print on white dial is gorgeous. That and the Datograph are my grail chronographs
I comment on social media super super rarely. But I need to break the rule. And I’ve to tell you - you are the best narrator ever! “…the need for a Monet to hide a stain on the wall…”! This is superb! And, even more, you are not only entertaining, but also very informative, often delivering good information unknown to me before. So, well, I’d say you are the full package, kind of…! Good job, sincerely! Chapeau!
If ever this presenter stops presenting these KZread videos, I’m off . His delivery matches his subject (watches) perfectly , IMO !!! He’s dry ,funny , educational , and best of all , well spoken . I understand every word he speaks , and his delivery is like that of every great thespian , beautifully weighted and timed to perfection . This guy is a gem . And he’s saved me thousands of pounds in watches I haven’t bought but enjoyed vicariously through his intimate descriptions of them . Rye chuss!!!!!
Another absolutely outstanding video. I’ll say this again; the writing, the visuals and the watches - this is by far my favourite channel on KZread.

I am a proud owner of a Nomos Orion 301, it is absolutely beautiful. When I went to the store to get it I even got a 15% discount on the list price without even asking. Maybe it helped that I speak German :)
A. Lange & Söhne, how incredible simple and very elegant simultaneously. The Glashutte's are a steal for their price. Good clip.
Thanks, Been eyeing up a panoreserve in blue for a while now and the price will no doubt be going up!

Such an amazing channel with great content, thanks for the knowledge and advice guys, I’m learning something new everyday for which I’m grateful and appreciative. Keep up the good work👍🏼
How you worked a buzz the tower reference into a watch video was the best thing I have seen on youtube.
Glashutte Original has the longer continuous history. I won't say their entry level watches are the equal of ALS but some of their higher end ones certainly are. Much as I'd love any ALS chronograph, the chronograph on my grail list is the GO PanoRetroGraph. You need it to count up, it does, you need it to reverse and count down, it does that too, you need to be able to set a timer and have it chime when it hits zero, yep. That's assuming you could stop looking at the movement long enough to actually use it which is a danger with both ALS and GO.
I enjoy these reviews the most , one can certainly appreciate the etherical level of skill and craftmenship that goes into an ALS or Patek ...etc ,but few of us can afford or justify the cost to have one , to see similar watches that are attainable to the enthusiast gives one hope and inspiration to rise to that next level ...
That GO panoreserve is crazy ! I’ll take it
I love your videos, the way you speak about the watches is the best, I’ve learned so much, thank you
You know that you are a fan of expensive watches when a 11.000$ watch is considered a "budget alternative" lol
The last one was so nice. Great video.
3:50 The only chronograph that makes me drool
I must be truly perverse. I had decided to buy a Lange Große 1, but, when I came to do it, I saw the Panoreserve in blue -- and I preferred it. I preferred the harmony of the dial, but even more I preferred the coplanar big date implementation. Once you have seen the fact that the two numbers on the Lange date are not in the same plane, you cannot "unsee" it. The good news is that, with the "saving" I made I bought another GO, a Zenith, a Nomos, and a Moser. I now have seven watches from the small town of Glashütte, but still no Lange. One day soon -- but it will have to be a "no date" or a "hand date" model.
Very interesting, thank you. I´m new to L&S and seriously impressed.
I recommend anyone who likes AL&S apply for the 'brochure'. It is beautiful. A hard back book with full page photographs of the movements. Truly awesome.

What's the point of an Uber expensive watch you never get to truly wear and enjoy. To each their own though.

I have decided that when I retire (in three years), that I will celebrate with an A. Lange & Sohnne watch. I am a poor state employee who has no need for such a thing as this, however, I will have it.
GOs happen to be pretty darn expensive on their own. But nothing matches an A Lange & Sohne.
I love how dramatic you are. Really adds the extráñese this watch deserves 👌🏾
I think a more fair comparison to the Saxonia Ultra-Thin is the D. Dornblüth & Sohn Kal. 99.1 which retails for just over US$4000. These watches are completely hand built from the ground up by a father and son team in the small town of Kalbe, just outside of Dresden. The quality of hand craftsmanship is quite incredible for the price.
I completely sympathize with your comment about Lange & Sohne being out of reach but greatly desired. These three definitely were more affordable options, particularly the Nomos. But the Glashutte Original watches did give the design of the Lange's shown competition in design. In fact, the 2nd watch, I found the GO dial to be a bit less busy and more balanced in design than the Lange. Even the 3rd GO I found to be a bit more appealing. I've also eyed the Muhle Glashutte watches in addition to the Nomos and the Glashutte Originals. Some really fine watches coming from German watchmakers.
I would live to own an A. Lange & Söhne, but I can't afford one. Liked that the alternatives are also German made watches; good German made watches for that sake too
I tried on a panoreserve today, oh wow what a watch, it is everything you hope it will be, it’s my attainable grail watch and like I say it’s everything I hoped it would be. Glashutte is one of the most underrated watch brands. I love my Lange 1 but the pano moon is definitely on my list just waiting for the updated movement with a longer reserve.
That glashutte orig. but with the moon phase I was looking at it recently and was really stunned like wow this is a beautiful beatiful watch. When I saw the price was less than 12,500 American dollars I was blown away. It reminds me of Today’s Tudor watches. Most ppl think if that’s a cheap version of rolex, but then when you hold and wear a BB, especially the bronze ones you realize wow this is, all on its own, an incredible watch. Better than a sub to me honestly.
Love me Nomos Orion Datum 38. Great pick team

You can judge me for posting about a sub 1000 dollar watch here but the Sugess moonphase master is a super cheap but still fully functional chrono that imo looks great and has the “vibe” of the 1815. Theres a guilloche version and an enamel version with lume. It uses st1908 which uses the ty2528 gears for moonphase and a date pointer as well which for me makes it the most useful and most good looking watch i own.
