This piece may very well be one of the best piano solos Joplin ever wrote, right alongside Magnetic Rag, Maple Leaf Rag, Eugenia, etc. Your interpretation of it does it great respect, good job!!!

Check out John Arpin’s album of Joplin. He’s also a jazz pianist. Has a unique way of playing. “Sugarcane” is the name of the song in his instead of Gladiolus. I can’t figure out what the true titles are for several of them. I guess people mix them up or disagree on it.
Kristen I'm so glad you played Gladiolus Rag. It was a joy to hear you play that. I love to play it too but cannot play as well as you can. I always look forward to your next performance. Thank you so much for posting such wonderful tunes. X
Love Scott Joplin. I used to play a few of his tunes a long, long time ago. Never heard this one before. Wonderful! 👏👏👏
It is just so nice that this old time ragtime music is still being played in modern days. Always great to watch and listen to you playing this great music in such an impressive way. Thank you for sharing your love for this music with us
Another Great Song from the Ivory Tickling Queen. 😘
I've been waiting for her next video to long, but it was worth it. Love her talent, with a beautiful smile. ❤

That smile is well worth the wait when she does it. My favorite on YT. I was born to late, I missed all this great music. Thankfully, this young lady brings it back. ❤
Very nice performance.
Kristen, you and Scott make beautiful music together. So happy you bring all of these numbers to us, your followers.
Great playing and super-authentic sounding piano.
Midnight and listening to the best ragtime piano. What could be better? Sleep?? Nah.
Love it as always!! Also, haha, the turn to the camera at the end 😄
I love the little smiles you do when you play a fun part flawlessly!
Nicely done Kristen!
Listening to ragtime is one thing but seeing it played is eye opening. You are so talented. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
Beauty and talent is a very rare combination but have it in spades, and all topped by that gorgeous smile a such a great achievment. You lfift my soul make my day every time I listen. Thank you. Rob
A beautiful performance. I have to say, it's interesting to hear this song at so fast and bouncy a rhythm; I'm more used to hearing it almost as an epilogue to "Bethena", continuing on from that piece in a similarly slow, almost somber or melancholy tone. This performance is quite the change.

Recordings from Joplin's lifetime go much faster than this. Check out the recording of "Gladiolus" made by the Pathe Dance Orchestra in 1914 elsewhere on KZread.
I love this song!!! Wait. I say that about everything you play…but I really love this song!! 😊
Best version i ve heard on youtube live.
I was having such a bad day-and then I found this. This really turned things around. Thanks so much, Kristen.

I'm so glad! 💚
This is one of my absolute favorite Joplin rags, and you play it so well. I was wondering when you would tackle this particular tune! been anticipating this one for year and was so thrilled to find out that this video was uploaded just an hour ago! I particularly love the 3rd and 4th part. Has a really happy upbeat feel to it! :)
Hi Kristen, I've played a few Scott Joplin rags over the years, and, like you, I'm sure, I have found that memorizing them makes them easier to play so you can focus on all the left-hand "jumps" especially, and not have to worry about turning pages. Nice job!! 😊
Kristen, well done you play really beautifully you must've worked very hard. I always enjoy listening to your videos thank you so much❤
Always look forward to these. Thank you
One of my favorite rags! Great job!
Always a joy to listen to your performance. Crisp and distinct rendition, which is your trademark.. Looking forward to your next video.
Brilliant as always! I was saddened at Tom Briers accident but you make up for his loss!
Kristen is the queen of rags. Very nice song, love the key changes.
Magnificent! Thank you.
What a joyful ragtime!!! It’s awesome to watch you play 🤩
Fantastic Kristen - well done, a tricky rag to master, especially sections 3 & 4. Quite a lot of that rag was used in "The Sting" movie as well. One of my favourite SJ rags along with Magnetic & MLR !
Awesome as always
Awesome!
Very nice!
Bravo, made my day!!💯💕

Still rockin it out!! Love you and your piano skills ❤❤❤❤

That's because Kristen heeds the directions of the composer: "Do not play this piece fast. It is never right to play ragtime fast." (Note from the composer included in many of the rags Stark published for Joplin.)
Very nice! I never had the dedication to learn anything past the A section on this one haha
Still my best, though I love your total Joplin opus. You're the tops. Would have loved to see you live but as an old codger, I never will. But as long as I have the internet and my old laptop to see your performances I am a happy old odger! Lol Thanks for your talent, joy you give and smile! Roby
Thanks for this!
i love !
Great performance! You have always been such a great inspiration to me as a hobby pianist, I found your channel when I was much younger and started trying to play rags. Thank you!
Well done !!!!!
I like it! Nice!!!
Great !!!👍👍👏
とても素敵です。他のラグタイムも聴きたいです。 i’ve followed your performance in silent, finally i can comment. you are so wonderful!
You are so incredibly talented, just amazing
your playing and beauty is so amazing!!!
I thought that was great, and I love how you really can hear the left and right hand parts quite clearly
Love this so much!!! Shut the front door!!! Wowowza!!!!
I love your videos! 😁👍
That piano's hint of a honky-tonk sound adds to the character of this tune.
Beautiful playing i love to see young people playing the piano i didnt any people knew what a piano was any more let play it so well bless you my little friend keep posting
As ever, talent and beauty combine to make you the best in the world on Joplin rags. Loved it! Old English Jazzer, Rob!

Wow , Just Wow!
very well played! and what for an impressive piano instrument!
Lovely tune
Perfect tempo!
good sound quality, everything first class, wow!
Very well done!
You are fantastic, perfect!
Very lovely
Excellent syncopation! 👏👏👏
Fantastic! This was always my favourite Joplin rag when I was younger - probably still is actually. I always struggled with those last few bars though - the unusual key modulation - for some reason.
THANK YOU.
Excellent work 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿Bravo💯‼️
Wonderful! 👌✨ Perfect tempo and combination of self-restriction, swing, and ornamentation! 😎
Absolutely Phenomenal!!! Bravo!! I don't know how you do it. It was a flawless performance and it sounded wonderful. I am a new student to the baritone and tenor ukulele and in my late 50's and I practice for a few hours every single day, and even with practicing and focusing on small sections of a song and playing it everyday over many months I make frequent errors. I own a piano and play on that a few times a week and I am just amazed at how your hands hit the exact keys your wanting to hit while moving at supersonic speed and without a single wrong note. Your talent is mind boggling.
Very nice. Keep up the good work.🙂
