Gladiator Nitro Loses His Cool When He Meets His Match | American Gladiators

Ойын-сауық

Nitro does not like to lose - and sometimes that gets him into trouble!
Hang Tough: The Gladiator and contender swing across hanging gymnastics rings, with the contender trying to make it to the opposite platform without the Gladiator forcing them off.
Tug-O-War: The Gladiator and contender face off in a tug-of-war while standing on tilting platforms.
Assault: The contender must attempt to hit a target while a Gladiator shoots at them using a tennis ball cannon.
Gauntlet: The contender needs to run through a half-pipe, with five Gladiators trying to stop them using handheld pads.
Snapback: Contenders and Gladiators are attached to bungee cords, with an aim to grab scoring cylinders from the center of the field and bring them back to their own bins.

ABOUT AMERICAN GLADIATORS:
Welcome to the official channel of American Gladiators, home of patriotic spandex and giant cotton swabs.
Beginning in 1989 for 8 seasons, this competition swept America. Two men and two women compete against each other and a roster of "American Gladiators". Events included, The Assault, Joust, The Wall, Breakthrough and Conquer, Hang Tough, Powerball, and many others, all culminating in the final event, "The Eliminator", a difficult obstacle course race. Every season there is a tournament to determine its "Grand Champion". For two seasons, there was an "International" competition taped in England where the champions from 4-6 countries competed similarly.

Nitro was standing upright, way too high, and got absolutely trucked. He got up and tried to finish but he was totally screwed. The other guy ran and dumped like 4 or 5 balls in on his side real quick. Ill never forget that one. Nitro is a pretty tough dude to get up from that on his own lol

Ninja Warrior is easily the closest we have in spirit. It's like Gladiators without the combat element. It's a better designed show, for what it is, than Gladiators was, but I miss the old element. I still don't know why that vacuum isn't waiting to be filled, why a revival failed as early as the 2000s. I would think it would be a strong, timeless concept.

I went to tryouts for this, and they angled the challenges for smaller, agile players so in the show, the contenders were always at a power deficit to make the Gladiators look more massive.

My Dad used to always say the gladiators were too musclebound and would lose at certain events as a result. They are glamourous, but not useful in all athletic events!

He had to throw in the "little man" comment after losing the tug of war. Well, I guess the "big man" still had lingering brain damage from getting run the F over by that Craig guy in a prior episode.

Yeah that was a pretty fun backhanded compliment. Of course Nitro was by far the smallest male Gladiator (despite injecting a truly reckless PED protocol just like the rest of them) so maybe there's a bit of psychology there. That dude is just crazy short, that's all. He looks damn well as impressive as Nitro, and comparing himself to the Pit bull terrier was obviously appropriate! I love Nitro and I love it when competitors get all badass like our "little" friend here!

I guess my memories and impressions at the time were decidedly naive and laughable at that time. Never considered steroids I tended to root for the competitors Never considered it to be fixed or compromised in any way The gladiators were well-placed insofar that scoring points was kinda indicative of the players' skill and maybe, will to win... Nitro was formidable and what made him appealing was that he exhibited competitiveness that anyone who enjoyed competitive sports could relate to. He was def. a role model of sorts in that regard.
