@@LivingTucsonArizona Hi there! Firstly, thank you for yours and your wife's service!! That is very awesome! So, I did discuss this over with my wife. We will not be house hunting on this trip; only going to the various areas/neighborhoods in the Tucson area and checking them out. Basically, getting the vibe and determining if it is a place we'd consider moving to. I've been to Tucson a few times for work, but my wife hasn't. Timing-- no clue. We were considering leaving our current area to get to a spot that we could get older more easily (we're mid 50s). We live on a 10% sloped road that is icy 6 months per year. This is a walking town, and we are 170 feet above Main Street. I always assumed I'd be the first to lose mobility due to residual Army boo boo's. But, my wife had 2 major surgeries this year. So.....the clock is ticking. We were generically considering maybe a Summer 2025 relocation to somewhere; specifically up to Grand Junction Colorado. But...my wife said she wants to look at Tucson; so I'm like "heck yes"!!

@@LivingTucsonArizona Hi there! Thank you very much. We are both looking forward to it. Yes...over our week and a half, we'll do some drive by's of the various suburbs and neighborhoods. I am finding it hard to determine, without having been there yet, what kind of area we'd favor---- fairly close to services, shopping, and restaurants......or, possibly further away to get some space. Hmmmm....chose close access to live music....or a place we could get some burros. a general military question.....does Arizona have any specific perks for retired military such as tax free retirement....or no car registration for disabled...or free state park passes ? Have a super rest of your week!

@@campingalan that's a great question about whether it's tax free retirement in AZ. I do not believe it is. Reduced car registration, yes! You should only have to pay taxes on that, so that will save you $$. I know that disabled vets can have their property taxes waived IF they make less than a certain amount ($30k ISH annually - do not quote me on that). Yes - free state parks!! Show them your VA ID and you're g2g! Enjoy all of the parks!
