Icelands glaciers have their own micro climate. Vatnajökull is more than 10 times bigger as the city of New York, but Iceland’s volcanic ashes heat up the ice leading to an enhanced melting as the result of global warming. We take tour up the glaciers where the story starts. We show the collapsed hiking pathway up the glacier from last year ! Do not go hiking without a guide ! An early morning glacier hike offers amazing views with incredible pictures. If you take the first tour you will be alone - the ice is untouched ! In the next step, the melting water forms extensive lakes with icebergs at the feet of the glaciers. From the glacier lakes the ice ends up in the ocean..... where it gets a fine water polish and forms.... diamond like ice structures freed from any ashes. Looking like diamonds on black velvet !
