Thanks Brotha! I truly appreciate that. That hike was mid June last year. It’s a great short hike not to far from Red Lodge, Montana. Once you get to the dam keep going across and to the left of the lake. There are a couple more lakes that we didn’t get to explore that much. We heard mountain goats as well but couldn’t find any. When are you planning?

I was looking for somewhere cool to go just outside of Yellowstone... saw your vid... and Red lodge area it is! What an epic hike! Anytime you have to put on gaiters and spikes!?! That's going to be a fun one. Those views are magnificent and heck of a spot to have lunch. That lake with the ice on top was pretty cool to see and you're right that it doesn't get much better. Haha...yea the effort of getting those "gram" photos!

The Beartooths are awesome!! So cool you got to experience them! I got to do some water quality research near Red Lodge in that range when I lived in MT. You should go back and summit Granite Peak, highest point in MT in the Beartooths. Great video!!

You and your daughter would love it! It's not that far of a drive for us here in MN. Probably the closest best mountains we can get to by car👍🏻 Red Lodge is a great town right at the mouth of the Beartooth Hwy that you would enjoy!

The lady and I spent 7 days in Silvergate MT in a lil cabin on a wildlife photography trip this past summer. We explored the Beartooths a little bit but I definitely want to get back there again. Wonderful edit my friend! Happy Thanksgiving!

We were in Cooke City the day before this hike for a few days👍🏼... Silvergate/Cooke area is amazing! We loved how it’s fairly quiet up there for being so close to Yellowstone. Love those little mountain towns, it’s going to be a long winter here in MN😫🥶

Red Lodge is only about 13 hours. We spent a week around the Beartooth Hwy between Cooke City and Red Lodge. It’s a gorgeous drive once you make it half way thru N Dakota😉. Thanks!

@@UpNorthAdventures it’s a fairly quiet area, everyone drives by it because the NE entrance to Yellowstone is right nearby. The Beartooth Plateau has tons of trails!👍🏼

Recently found your channel and have been going through all the videos. We are heading out to Yellowstone next week and plan to do this hike thanks to this video. Are there any hikes inside Yellowstone that you recommend? Would love to see a video of all the essentials you pack when you are doing these hikes. Also, what are the requirements for fishing in these areas? Thanks for the great videos!

I’m glad you found the channel and hope the videos are helping 😁. Avalanche Peak is supposed to be a good one in Yellowstone. I believe all you need is a state fishing license to fish up there. Dalton is always fishing on our trips and I’m fairly certain all he does is buy a state fishing license.

Yes, I'm assuming so. I saw a couple tents up near the lake that day. It's a fairly quick hike up to the lake if you're not interested in camping though.

Hey Matt, I might have asked this on another Beartooth vid, but about what month was this? Is late May a little too early for hikes in the Beartooths due to snow?

I hate to burst your bubble Drew but most likely yes. Especially after this high snow winter. That video was shot a couple days after Father’s Day a bunch of years back. Beartooths are a different kind of animal.

I would highly suggest an SUV. A bad winter will definitely beat that road up. Hopefully they will fix it up enough to get up there by then 👍🏼. The road definitely keeps some of the crowds away. It’s a short tough hike that packs a punch! If you travel up the Beartooth Highway near the summit you can see the lake area you’ll be hiking, it’s gorgeous!

@@TheMountainMatt Yeah was thinking if we can't get an SUV may just see how it goes. Right now all Hertz shows available are SUVs and I have Hertz Gold and can usually upgrade free if one is available. Will let you know if we make it!
