The pretty town of Gjirokaster is obviously wise to the advantages of careful tourism - infrastructure work, street cleaning, landscaping - even the portions of town still to be developed show signs of hope. I predict good things for this community - if they continue to be judicious about the influx of both money and people.

I agree and definitely see it keep going towards that way. Actually, the places I have been in Albania on this trip shows alot of positive renovation. Looking forward to see how it all turns out in a few years. I am definitely adding it to my yearly visits :)
