This is a great idea for a video series and there's no question Andy earned that GSR. Those are sick cars and I really hope it doesn't get stolen.

This series is actually one of the most educational that you guys have put out, up there with money pit. Just a short amount of time to diagnose and get a car running, no fluff or lengthy talk. @@JohnSuave The main difference is that garages don't get ideal conditions like this though. This is a clean car with not much rust and it's a fairly simple model that's over 20 years old. Parts have room for access unlike a modern car that tightly packaged to save space and requires you to remove 4 other parts to access the one you need to replace. Mechanics also have to deal with tonnes of built up road grime, mixed with water and salt if you're from Canada, Eastern USA or UK so they'd spend more time just trying to remove a bolt. It's hard to know if they're charging you 3 hours labour for a typically 3 hour job or if they're charging for 3 hours of wrestling stupid stubborn shit for a typically 1 hour job.

Literally three things for every car ever. Fuel, air, spark. Check the fuel system, check the ignition system, check the intake. If all three of those are good and it still doesn't work the list is even more specific: crank position sensor, starter motor, neutral safety switch. That's it. Get through all those and you can start any car. The actual trick is knowing the car well enough to know where to look without having to waste time searching or google everything.

this is actually such a good series in the sense of teaching someone troubleshooting for engine faults. I work on jet engines and previously worked in a backshop style job where all maintenance was scheduled and no troubleshooting was required. I now work where troubleshooting is the main focus of the job and having that simple baseline of knowledge is such a boost in efficiency of diagnosing and fixing issues. This is a great series and fuck its funny to watch them penalize him for commodities like power tools lol. Great work guys I continue to learn more and more about cars through this channel and my 1982 Datsun 280zx thanks you!

Shitty technician. Any real mechanic wouldve caught the no fuel right after the battery and main fuse. No the fuel was NOT good. it didnt even prime out of the filterless hose LOL. And he failed to check spark plugs, cap n rotor while popping off the fuel line. Pretty amatuer to be honest. He couldnt even take off rust free nuts covered in oily soot. Pathetic.

Saw something similar at a mall once, the NHRA had brought out two top fuel dragsters and they had a competition to see which team could fire it up, strip it down and make a few changes, and then re-fire it. Something like that would be pretty cool to see.

The gas thing… so devious! Soooooo wrong lmao cuz it’s not necessarily something that needs to be “fixed” but it is oh so very much needed to start the car, easily over-looked. This series is amazing, a complete game changer, I love it. Everyone loves it. It’s a win win no matter what lol You know what I see this working up to ?? A huge gamble when someone puts their own vehicle up for the fixing !! Like this is the perfect way to get all those cars rotting away in peoples driveways running, someone either gets some free repair work or the mechanic earns himself a new ride!
